Fertility

Rules Questions

Looking through spell lists, I'm not finding any spells relating to fertility on the Druid lists.

I'm specifically looking for crop boon spells and birth boon spells, increased production or increased chance of conception, etc.

Seems like that would be a Druid thing, and/or a Witch thing, but I'm not finding any spells.

Are there any?

Plant Growth. Specifically, the Enrichment version.

Quote:
Enrichment: This effect targets plants within a range of a half-mile, raising their potential productivity over the course of the next year to one-third above normal.

Control Weather to make rain for areas in a drought. Though "gentle rain" is not listed, it should still be possible.

Big problem with most roll playing games. large number spell to turn people you dont like into vapor, but not many spells for day to day living. I could use a spell to find car keys or find TV remote more then a fireball spell most days

Spells for day to day living tend to be the domain of alchemists, adepts, hedge wizards, and witches, and tend not to have to mutch direct effect on play.

Locate object.

Also good daily spells:

Prestidigitation
Mage hand
Unseen servant - or my favorite 3.5 variant Servant Horde that summons 2d6+Cl I'd cast that every day. Probably more than once. "Clean my house" "do the laundry" "Make me a sandwich"

but I may be off topic.

Even if it was the place for adepts or witches, etc, are those spells listed anywhere? I'm ok with it being the 'domain' of another class but see no spells related to this.

I have no issue with developing my own spell, I just don't want to re-invent the wheel if it is in the core rules, or in a 3rd party ruleset. Seems like an odd omission for Druid IMO. Certainly, not all Druids would use it, or not use it all the time, but that kind of spell seems well within their realm.

Looking for a starting point, and making sure I didn't miss something in previously published material.

You can always pray to Lamashtu. She frequently grants children when prayed to.

Yeah, Lamashtu is all about fertility.

There are items, spells and feats, specific to her that allow you to literally smell out fertility, breed with animals/magical beasts, and have children with the Fiendish template.

Of course, it's all at a price.

Shadow Lodge

As far as I know, Paizo has no spells either improving or removing human or animal fertility. Plant Growth is about the closest you'll get, or those items associated with Lamashtu (I'm not familiar with these), or Pharamsa's Icon of the Midwife.

I'm not sure about 3rd party materials or previous editions of the game.

Void where prohibited

Results may vary.

"Results my vary"

That's what I should have gone with!

I wonder if there was anything of the sort in the 3.5 Book of Vile Darkness?

Lamashtu's Demon Mother's Mask has a number of useful features, including the ability to detect whether something is fertile, and in the case of creatures that are always fertile, if they're barren. Quote: "Creatures such as humans that can breed any time of year always smell fertile unless they are barren." Or, I'm assuming with human females, it's that time of the month.

You can also pay a competent mage to file off the "must worship Lamashtu" requirement to make the "crossbreed with anything" power work--especially useful, for example, if you're a human/halfling mixed marriage and you want to have kids anyway, even if it means wearing the kinky three-eyed jackal mask in bed.

Beyond that, Heal or Regenerate should be able to fix barrenness, depending on the cause, and Limited Wish should certainly be able to.

On the witchy end, there are lots of fairytales where someone wants to conceive a child and they go to a witch who generally gives them a piece of fruit to eat or a flower to grow with the fruit leading to pregnancy or the flower having the child grow out of it in case the prospective mother decided she liked gardening better than that messy pregnancy business.

While it would certainly be possible to come up with a special hex to do this, as a GM, I'd just tell the witch to take the Cauldron hex, Steep Poison (to get the magic into the fruit), Cook People (to make a person into a yummy edible with magical powers), and Forced Reincarnation. Then you'd get a delicious fruit that would get the eater pregnant or a seed you could plant in the ground to grow your own cabbage patch kid, with the soul coming from the person you previously cooked in your cauldron.

Not really, although it makes good sense. As others have pointed out the spell lists tend to be replete with things that involve loud noises, explosions, screams etc. Those spells that might fit, are marginal at best with domestic uses of it being an unintended side effect of it's common use.

Time for a homebrew project or, maybe, the new Ultimate Campaign might include something like this. It would seem to be the place for this type of thing...

*edit* I've always favored variations of Bless for this type of thing, depending on the gods portfolio / interests.

Book of Vile Darkness is 3.0 D&D, not 3.5. And no, there is nothing in it that fits this topic.

This is exactly what the "Book of Erotic Fantasy" is for. Clerics and paladins get a level 4 spell guaranteeing pregnancy (it also grants the celestial template to the child).

I'm not sure if it ever made it over to 3.X , but there was such a spell in 2nd. In the Forgotten Realm's setting it was granted by the goddess Shiallia and the Dwarven goddess Sharindlar. It was first printed in "Prayer's for the Faithful".

Spoiler:

Fertility

Sphere:Creation
Level:4 Components:V,S,M
Range:touch Casting time:1 turn
Duration:special Area effect: 1 creature
Saving throw:Neg.

Use of this spell is often requested as a marital blessing. The DM makes a saving throw based on the caster's level, and success indicates that any creature upon whom the spell is cast who mates within 24 hours has a 95% chance to impregnate or become pregnant. Furthermore, the offspring inspired by this magic is certain to be delivered normally and in good health provided the mother remains healthy and uninjured.

Shiallia also granted a level 3 spell of Ease Labor.
Hope this information helps.

That's equal parts creepy and awesome.

Also, you then get to look at the creepy artwork for having opened a copy of the Book of Erotic Fantasy, ensuring that you don't want to talk about the topic anymore.

*shudder*

Yeah that book really shouldn't have done photography.

As for "day to day living" spells....take a look at witch hexes. Nearly all of them are about screwing someone over for days on end, not for a multiple of 6 seconds.
