Alternative motivation for Skeletos of Scarwall


Curse of the Crimson Throne


I'm about to start DMing CotCT and I realize I'm looking a bit too much in the future, but none of my PCs are egligible for Serithial. Party consists of:

Half-Orc Summoner (Synthesist) - who'll be fighting with claws.
Tiefling Wizard - for obvious reasons, he won't be using it.
Human Stone Oracle - who'll be using Rock Throwing or spellcasting.
Halfling Rogue - who'll be using brass knuckles and the other reason why he won't be using it is because in our group we have an understanding that in every AP we play, a different PC gets the artifact weapon. And he already got the artifact weapon in Legacy of Fire (Tempest).

So, when the PCs hear from Zellara that they should go to Scarwall to get a weapon... they probably wouldn't be intrested that much. I mean, they wouldn't ignore it, since they're aware that it's scripted that way in the AP, but I want it to make sense for them to go there, not just follow the rails.

Does anyone have any alternatives for what can be in Scarwall that would make my PCs want to go there?

Well the Purpose behind Serithiel is it aids in defeating illeosa and her minions, and illeosa is stupendously powerful, so every bit helps.
Option 1) you could write in Sabina's defection early and have her be the one to use it. (which honestly makes more sense in the large scope of things, her defecting earlier i mean)

Option 2) have the artifact be something else, a wand or a rod?

Option 3) temporary mythic tier for each member of the party?

All in all, you just need to recover something that will help you defeat the BBEG.
