I'm wondering why you can only be a member of one alliance. I certainly understand that if you're a member of an alliance, you can't be a member of an opposing or enemy alliance, or an alliance with an opposed alignment. However, why shouldn't you be able to be a member of both the Pathfinder Society and the Knights of Iomedae, for example?

It could be a balance issue in the game? I don't think some alliances would like that you have other allegiances either.

There were quite a few of us who were really pushing for the devs to let us be a member of pretty much as many Social Organizations (Chartered Companies, Settlements, etc) as we wanted. The more I think about it, the more I think they're probably trying to keep the data model design simple so that reads and updates can be very optimized.

What is the difference between an alliance and a guild?
My personal definitions:
Guild - Group of players who call themselves a Guild.
Alliance - Group of players who call themselves an Alliance. Usually a group of Guilds.
Since both of those exist solely outside of the game, there's no need to define them in in-game terms.
Inside the game, there will be Companies, Settlements, and Nations, and those will have very clear definitions in in-game terms.

Ah, I see. So an alliance can consist of multiple guilds. Now I get it

You "necro'ed" a number of very old threads...

As in, reviving a very old, "dead" thread.

Ah, I get it now lol. Yes I came into the game pretty late and didn't understand some of the things people were talking about so I figured I'd read the 2 and a half years worth of blogging on the goblinworks site. Tedious yes, but I'm much more familiar with what's going on now. I'm nearly half way through

I'm terribly terribly confused. Is there supposed to be a blog entry titled 'Live Through This'?
'Cause when I follow the link at the top of this thread (and I have done it with 2 different browsers on this machine and on my tablet over a semiseperate network) the most recent thing I see is Rushing the Land posted May 2, 2014.
So, what am I missing?

The blogs used to all be listed in reverse order on one large page. The link at the top of this thread was created at that time and thus now just points to the current blog. The older blogs can be found by looking at the archives (on the right of the Goblinworks site) based on month and year... November 2012 for this one.

@Pax Sentath, most of the older discussion threads have broken links that only go to the goblinworks.com/blog top-level page. I've thought about creating a post that lists all these old blogs and gives links to the blog itself as well as the discussion thread, but I'm not sure how much value that would have. Ideally, the links at the top of each discussion thread would be corrected, but that would require quite a bit of work from a Paizo employee and I'm not sure they see the value in it either.
What I've been doing to find the older blogs is looking at the post date for the discussion thread and then clicking to that month and year on the sidebar on goblinworks.com/blog. The list of blogs in Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links might also prove useful for finding the post date for the blog you're interested in.

Oh, I should fix that. I'll probably spend some time on it today.
Well, if you're going to be looking at it anyway.... the Join Together with the Band blog seems to have disappeared entirely.

Ouch, looks like I missed it during the great blog post transfer from the old site to the new. I've found it in my back-ups and added it back in. It should be live again when we make some changes later in the day. Please feel free to PM me or post if you find any other missing posts.

Great! Thanks Taylor.
I recently skimmed through all of the blogs again. That was the only one I noticed missing. Further, the 'monthly' and 'by author' totals both add up to 79, out of 80 total, so once this one is back online you should be all set.
