So,
Doing this with no prompt from the Bald Man, but
Winter Fantasy 2013 will now be featuring PFS mods and more!
Sign up info is on the link below. David Christ is a pretty dang awesome dude to work for when you go to Con's, and now he has the availability to offer to us the Pathfinder stuff. DUN DUN.

I typically come to this con and I'd like to judge some PFS this year. However, I don't see the sign up info for judges.

Anyone know how to do this?

5/5

I don't normally come to this ... but all signs point to yes for me being able to make it for the majority of it ...

Being able to sign up and judge would be awesome (I'll even run a table or so of cyphermage if I can)

Silver Crusade 5/5

I want to say I'll go to this for at least a day.

Dark Archive 4/5

Dave is currently in the Hospital having his heart rewired to become a Cyberman, so he can fight Dr. Who. Hopefully sign ups will be heading out next month, normall for Winter Fantasy it's 2-3 to a room, and there pretty posh rooms.
I whole heartedily recommend WF for those who have never been.

We will have lots of cool PFS at the show.
We will have some cool PFS guests at the show.
We will just in general have a damn good time at the show.

Judge sign-ups and event schedules should be going up in the next week as I catch-up on things. Being in the hospital 4 days put a big crimp in being productive.

Upon learning that Mike Brock will be there along with other Paizo Staff AND that we will celebrate his birthday in some manner. I am going to this somehow for sure. At least for a day, longer if I can swing it.

rolls on her back giggling as another is sucked into the vortex that is the traveling GM contingent

Silver Crusade 5/5

You know PFCBG...if I had a ride. I have a higher chance of getting more than a day down there.... It's only another 1.5 hour drive to swing by Kzoo... :P

hrm ... I've been told I'm more than likely flying in Monday morning if the arrangements work ... otherwise I totally would .. cause you'd keep me awake

Silver Crusade 5/5

Or I'd just drive for you. I don't mind driving, especially if I have a good audio book to listen to.

Based on what I've seen...You've never ran one coherently...you might be pretty boring if you did. :P

Is this event kind of a "replacement" for the D&D Experience event that used to be on or near this weekend? In any case it's in Ft Wayne AND will have PFS play? I'm in!

Silver Crusade 5/5

Yes, from what I understand...there is no D&D to experience. :P So, a more "classic" style of D&D will be present AKA PFS.

Food for thought: The last few years, head coordinator not being very sick LFR had a pretty strong holding at U-Con...this year, they didn't even bother to email back the con staff to say they weren't going to be there.

I'm sure Tracy will comment eventually but rest assured we Indiana VOs are well aware of Winter Fantasy. Stay tuned.

Its not a replacement. Winter Fantasy became DDXP and now its back to Winter Fantasy because wotc moved their ddxp promotion to gencon.

PFS Indiana plans on helping as much as we are needed, but at this point, David Christ is taking the lead on organizing.

Daniel, I had the notion of bringing LFR to U-con, then decided I'd rather play PFS, heck I could have premiered my module that I wrote for LFR at U-con, and ran it. Buuut pfs instead. >.>

I've spent the weekend in the hospital and then had one day to recover before starting my new job so please bear with me as I continue to play never ending catch-up.

I think we've had a few miscues along the way and I think I've sorted most of them out with Mike at this point.

I'm taking lead on organizing in the sense of it's my show. It's my bank account that empties out when things fail and my name that gets dragged through the mud if things go wrong.

Now having said that I like good eggs. I reward good eggs. Judges for the show have to process through my existing system because that is just how I track, schedule, and report things. I'll take all the help and suggestions from those in the PFS trenches on who I should use and not use (I know half you guys already). I take the lead because that is just how I work and it lets me protect those doing work for me from taking the hits. It's my job to take the good and take the crap when needed.

So if the PFS Indiana types want to chime in offlist to me and help work out a schedule or offer suggestions then I'm all ears. I'd love to hit 250+ tables of PFS at this show (and I honestly think we can hit that). My goal is to make this the biggest PFS presence in the world that doesn't sit in the summer (PaizoCon/Gencon). I know we have the judges and players to make that happen.

Whoa.

The Exchange 5/5

If anyone can do it, Dave can. He's got the track record to back it up.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I just put in vacation time for this. I will be there all 4 days now. I will help with PFS HQ or GM. One or the other, every slot.

Hmm. January travel.

I've wanted to do WF for a few years now.

For those thinking about WF let me put it how I do for others.

Take all the RPG gaming of a Gencon.
Put all your friends there.
Take away all the Gencon crazy.
Cut your costs in half for hotels and probably by a 1/3rd for food and drink.
Add in all the industry people you'd love to talk to but they are now calm and having fun and are accessable instead of crazy (aka Gencon).

Now surround the place with a ton of snow and cold so you have no excuse not to just stay inside and game, drink, and have a blast for four days.

I spent one afternoon last show playing Talisman (original of course) with Stephen and Bulmahn (and a crazy Matt James). That night I had beers with Rob Schwalb while we twisted his arm to not game again that night and stay with us.

That's Winter Fantasy.

Dave

<insert here - I have nothing against Gencon in any fashion and will go every year till I die (or my wife tells me to get back in the basement) - it's just not the best time to chat with people at times>

5/5

Well ... if the airlines would get their <redacted> out of their <radacted> and give me a flight Thursday night I'd be there earlier... but so far looks like part of Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday

Silver Crusade 5/5

Fly in Wednesday?

Couldn't get Thursday off work ... I have the option of driving in Thursday night after work ... it's only 7 hours O_O ... but winter roads hrmmmm

Silver Crusade 5/5

Call in sick on Thursday?

5/5

lol .. not with vacation the next day ... they track that

Silver Crusade 5/5

Call in sick both days then...
Don't you ever try and subvert the corporate plutocracy?

I'll second what Dave said. I've been to lots of WFs but missed the last 3 (when it wasn't even called that) cos there were no games to interest me and I can drink with Dave at other shows. Just not Gen Con most of the time.

When I told my kids Dave was taking this show back from WotC, and there would be PFS, there was unanimous "yay" and similar words.

My vacation time is approved. Two of my three kids are coming too. Both are willing to GM, though one of them will be only 14 and Dave's rules say she's not allowed to. So she'll hopefully get to help out in other ways (Dave, please email me back about that).
For those of you who don't understand the significance of a dad bringing two kids to a con - we're travelling to Fort Wayne from Australia. That's how cool we think this con is.
My oldest would be coming too, but she has uni stuff to finish so she can graduate. So, 2014 for her.
Hoping to see lots of you there

You planning to make an appearance Doug? That would be awesome and I know Amy would love to say hi to you

Scarab Sages 5/5

If they do a kid's track it'd be pretty awesome if David could have your daughter run that. My son got to play one session on Sunday at Gencon and it was the highlight of the con I think. I think an early-teen would probably have fun teaching a handful of kids how to kill monsters and take their stuff.

I'm just trying to treat Thea's ache for gaming and friendship that only a good con can cure. I want to ensure she uses the proper time code for her missing work. :P

As fun as this con appears, I'm sad to say that I do not expect to attend due to family commitment.

My wife Tracey and I should be there all 4 days.

I am happy to do some GMing if needed.

Really it all comes down to hotel cost.

I should mention that I've been looking forward to a chance to GM for Dave since the LG days...

Waiting for volunteering to open...

Can we get an Eyes of the Ten schedualed for this. I would like to come and play, perhaps GM a late night session, something evil and hard. But mainly to play.

Scarab Sages 5/5

I GM'd for Dave back in 2008(?) whatever the first year of 4e was at Gencon. It took me a little bit to remember where I recognized the name from when I first saw the announcement. Anyways, I'm hoping to be around Saturday/Sunday to GM depending on work and whatnot.

:-)

I'll give you the same advice I gave Thea...Call in sick to Winter War and come to WF! :P

Should be there, not sure how much yet as I have to consider if I want to take just Friday off work or more.

I would be willing to run Eyes of the Ten if it gets scheduled
