Relax. Who's got a signed 1ed DMG? :)

M

I do not have a 1rst edition DMG BUT I have a 2ned edition DMG signed by Gary Gygaz, Dave Arnson, David "Zeb" Cook, R.A Salvatore, Sean K. Reynolds, A personalized character Drawing by Jeff Easley, and a personalized letter from Danilo Thann (By Elaine Cunningham) to my Favorite Character, and many many more inside one lowly 2ned edition DMG :)

I am sure Sean remembers signing it at one point and giving bubble text to the character drawing in there at Gen Con 2000 :) (Maybe he doesn't as his memory is not as good as it used to be and he might not remember his WizO_Kip (TSRO_Kip) :)

Alas, no signed DMGs here, but do I have the original artwork for the cover for A History of Ashes :)

What is a charter subscriber? Someone who has spent a lot of money over the years on Adventure Paths!

Not that I mind, but I do have some reading to catch up on.

Sometimes I miss my charter subscriber tag. But then I remember having to move all those books and dispel the notion right away!

Oh hell, what's a couple tons of books between friends?

My vast collection of RPG books and art books is why I don't ask friends to help me move anymore. >.>

Hopefully now that I am buying a house, I will never have to move all that dead tree again...

One fewer charter subscriber as of today. A fallen paladin can atone, but there's no coming back once you abandon the charter. :(

Make that down two Charter members.

My wife retired July 1st, and I have been retired for 4 years, and I am really not interested in the next AP, so we are re-evaluating are financial situation.

I know some people who simply could not afford the subscriptions, but wanted to keep the charter status.

So it's a bit addictive (to people with addictive personalities).

Very true.

I couldn't possibly have any idea what you all are talking about. Now, my wife on the other hand ... she might have a very good idea what you're talking about ...

(She has asked me repeatedly when enough minis will be enough :)

When it's enough obviously...

They'll take my charter from me when I go broke or quit the hobby...hopefully neither happens...

More importantly: If you have one, would you really burn it? Besides, it'll take more than that to kill a Lich like me.

Luckily, my phylactery is well hidden...

Inside a signed 1st ed. DMG?

Thankfully the charter part of it's not too hard to keep. Now, superscriber ... that can be quite painful at times.

Yes - I hadn't noticed it went away at first when a couple more lines were added to the requirements... although... the Golem Glow doesn't seem quite as bright as it used to. Well down from it now, but..

The Charter STAYS! :)

Psst... Sara Marie - think you could get the okay to share the current #?

+1 from me on that :)

I don't know the number is as meaningful as you might hope it to be... it's not perfect. I was a Dungeon subscriber at The End and rolled my remaining issues into PF, and continued ever since. And yet. I've never had the Charter tag. Never knew why, never asked. But any discontinuity that ever happened was... odd. I've never dropped my subscription even temporarily, and my bookshelves speak to that.

So hey. The number is X + Y, where X is the number you might get told and Y is some number greater than zero.

Grand Lodge

To gain charter you had to actually subscribe before issue #1 came out, even if you had dungeon rollover if you didn't subscribe before #1 you don't get charter.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Andrew is correct—you had to actually sign up for the ongoing AP subscription before volume 1 was released, not just roll issues of Dragon or Dungeon over into it.

Fair enough. I can't say for certain what my chronology was, except "uninterrupted".

Not that I am or was complaining.

Owner - House of Books and Games LLC

Either way, I'm glad I did. I can still remember being on the fence about it, as I was extremely annoyed at the untimely death of The Dragon; I seem to recall signing up as much out of annoyance at WoTC as anything else.

(My recollection is that The Dragon was the only consistently good D&D material coming out at the time, and WoTC was insane to shoot it in the head. The reason why they did so is obvious in hindsight :)

You are correct. I looked at your account and saw that somehow there had been 2 Adventure Path subscriptions started (one which would grant charter status and one that was outside the parameters for charter status) and you were getting two copies of AP#2. One was returned for you and it was the one that was on the charter subscription. This inactivated the charter subscription and it stopped spawning new items, meaning you didn't get the charter tag.

I have preformed some surgery and you now have your original subscription with its accompanying charter tag back.

Well, huh. Thank you very much Sara Marie. Time is valuable and you just spent some doing something tedious for a customer who wasn't in any way upset.

As usual, the bar at Paizo is so high that we don't even see it.

I never even bother asking Sara about stuff like that because I know that whatever she is doing is the most important thing she could be doing. :)
