Two Weapon Fighting

In Crypt of the Everflame the pregenerated character Valeros does 1d8+3 damage with his longsword and 1d6+1 with his shortsword. Why doesn't he add his full strength modifier to his off-hand attack damage?

Strength Bonus: When you hit with a melee or thrown weapon, including a sling, add your Strength modifier to the damage result. A Strength penalty, but not a bonus, applies on damage rolls made with a bow that is not a composite bow.

Off-Hand Weapon: When you deal damage with a weapon in your off hand, you add only 1/2 your Strength bonus. If you have a Strength penalty, the entire penalty applies.

Wielding a Weapon Two-Handed: When you deal damage with a weapon that you are wielding two-handed, you add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus (Strength penalties are not multiplied). You don't get this higher Strength bonus, however, when using a light weapon with two hands.

That is just how TWF works. You only get 1/2 your Strength modifier to damage (rounded down) with the off-hand. You can get around this with the Double Slice feat, but it sounds like Valeros doesn't have that yet.

You need Double Slice to be able to do that. Off-hand attacks always only get 1/2 your Str to damage. It's in the Core. Look up the Feat and Two-Weapon Fighting in the Combat chapter.

He doesn't have Double Slice?

Oh, Valeros, you suck mechanically, and are also a douchebag.

hmmmm double slice, was that available when valeros was built as a preen?

most of the iconics suck these days compared to current rules sets... I havent looked lately does Seoni still have Varisian tattoo feat?

Cheers, I couldn't find that rule. Can you give me a page number?

I don't have the book handy, but the PRD is set up the same way, so you'll find it in the Damage section of the Combat chapter.
