So, uh, did I miss something?
One minute they're barely holding back the zombie swarm from breaking down the barn doors, the next minute, it's morning and everyone's asleep? Did the tree fall on the zombies, thus ending the threat, or was that a dream sequence? I'm not particularly happy either way, but feel like I must've missed something.
Still, I'm liking this season. I'm just confused.

The thing that kind of bugged me was Maggie being hard on the priest. Her father was a religious yet flawed man who she loved very much. Sure the priest did a pretty awful thing and Id imagine most people would treat him like dirt but I dont imagine Maggie would. Though maybe she has just run out of sh!@s to give.

Right there with you, my rainbow equine friend. 'Twas very confusing. I just drink a beer an roll with it. I did try to come up with a good "tree falling in the forest joke", but apparently my brain isn't fully functional yet this morning.
Perhaps a third cup of coffee.....

I think this was supposed to be a be an episode about faith and hope and the loss of both (and regaining it possibly). In Maggie's case she has just been burned to many times and seems to have lost her faith - yet the episode closes with a bit of a miracle. I think the priest just symbolizes that resentment she has towards putting energy and faith in a higher power - so Gabriel gets to be the punching bag.
It continues with the theme with emo Daryl at the beginning of the episode to him coming to terms about both Beth and Tyreese near the end.
Can't wait for the new nemesis to show up on scene - should be good times once the group has something to fight.

I read the comics so I have a good idea of what's going on. nyaa-nyaa. : P
I thought the scenes of the zombie mob in slow pursuit were really good. I think even more could have been done with characters becoming hopeless and lost in despair. Daryl's scenes were well done, but Maggie went much lower in the comic.
Holding the barn door was a good transition, but convenient natural disasters feel like lazy writing. and yeah, it was really confusing.
Good to finally see Aaron and I'm interested to see how the next part plays out.

Once again, I enjoyed....
And I thought it interesting - when Michonne first showed up, she was still very much in a "we've got to keep moving, you can't trust these people" frame of mind. Rick seemed to be in that same place at the beginning, but you could see caution and hope battling it out. And not caution really, but outright paranoia. Couldn't blame him though - the last "sanctuary" they came across tried to eat them.
It was a nice touch at the end, to see hope start to win out when he heard the children playing. My only problem with that - wouldn't the cries of children playing attract the walkers?
Also, where the f~!# did they get all that steel to build their walls? And how the hell did they survive long enough to build them? I guess those are answers we'll have to either wait for, or accept that's just the way it is.

This was a really good episode tonight. I can see a turning point, a new dynamic that'll make things really interesting. As long as they don't make Daryl a bad guy. He's one of my favorites.
I wonder if Congresswoman saw through Carol's bullshit. That was some funny shit.
Congresswoman's son - dead man. Glen's going to f##+ his world up.
His gate guard buddy - dead man. Daryl will end him.
Smoking "My wife cut your hair" dude - dead man. This poor bastard just does not know who he's f$%@ing with. Rick will gut him and wear his entrails as a scarf.
I look forward to the new Ricktatorship.

Wormer, he's a dead man!
Marmalard, dead!Niedermeyer - dead!
The first thing I thought of when I read your spoiler.
Agree with everything you posted +1000.
It's also nice to see the return of Officer Friendly.

Some further thoughts...
On the other hand...f!@@ it, it's Hollywood. Part of that whole industry is powered by the idea of unicorn farts.
How that confrontation at the gate should have gone:
Congresswoman's son: "I was in ROTC. You have to listen to my orders."
Glen: "I ran THROUGH a herd of Walkers, but stopped to rescue Tara, when I was escaping the ruined prison.
Michonne: "I used to keep some Walkers as pets. And I can cut your head off in 2 seconds."
Daryl: I can live off the land with just a crossbow and a knife. Also, I probably used to f&%% guys like you in prison.
Carl: " I shot my own mother's corpse in the head so she wouldn't turn."
Rick: "I tore a man's throat out with my teeth."
And that would have been when that little punk pissed himself.

The people on the show are so dumb. I am now rooting for the zombies to win!
My friend told me the show was good. Now I watch an episode every few months, just so I have more to tell him about how dumb the show is.
Way to roleplay your character, you've got the quintessential annoying Kender nailed!

I think the new story line is a nice change of pace and I welcome the opportunity for the authors to explore "the next stage" of the post-apocalypse narrative. So far the fifth season feels like a breath of fresh air.
It's interesting to see the characters in contrast to 'normal' people and realize how much their experiences have hardened them.
I really enjoyed Carol's acting in the last episode. The scenes where she's 'struggling' to remove the assault rifle and describing herself as a den mother were hilarious! It'll be interesting to see if the congressperson picks up on that, if her people reading skills are as good as she thinks they are.

"Jim you going to live through the night?"
"Sure, Tom go to sleep"
"You lock the door?"
"Yep, were safe."Hours later Jim dies, awakens Tom by biting his jugular......
Koka, koga, tong, whatever they would use the knowledge of ancient scrolls and not consistently make such dumb choices. I have no "secrets".....

Thing is, people die in their sleep frequently. Even in a world with modern medicine and functional hospitals. Especially old people.
If dying automatically makes you come back as a zombie, it makes sense to take precautions to isolate people while sleeping. There's another zombie movie (that I can't remember the name off atm) that takes this into account and depicts residents of a moderately sized city locking themselves into separate (sturdily built) bedrooms and apartments when they go to bed.

Oh lord don't get me started on the prison!
No excuses to have individual cells, no excuse not to secure the cell doors.
No excuses for not setting passive defenses in the open areas, inside the fence.
No excuse to not utilize razor wire to delay the tank, b/c razor wire is a b%*#! to remove from tracks.....

You know.... It just didn't hit me that hard till you pointed it out, but then I get distracted easily; oh hey look flowers.

That was....pretty cool.
But I do like this little secret council going on between Carol, Rick, and Daryl. They are easily my three favorite characters, and to see the three of them plotting the inevitable takeover in such a no-nonsense way makes me happy. Still, if they wanted people to be less suspicious, why did they all come back in the gate at the same time?
Looks like poor Sasha has a bad case of PTSD going on. Here's hoping it doesn't get her (or someone else) killed. Though it probably will.
Ultimately, I can see that the people of Alexandria are in for a very rude awakening. It's going to be interesting to see which ones come through whatever end-of-season shenanigans the writer's have planned, and how those survivors will be changed.

BigNorseWolf |

Eh, it doesn't really bother me. Ultimately you have suspend your disbelief to buy into the idea that a modern military would be defeated by zombies as shown in TWD anyway.
It is nice that the writers seem to rely less on the characters making awful decisions than in previous seasons though.
well, once you do something stupid and nuke a city , the people die, and rise up as a zombie swarm then I can see it happening. Smart soldiers would be pretty much zombie proof... but their ammo depot, tank maintenance mechanic, cook, supply clerk...
it takes 10 people behind the lines to keep one person on it. Take them out and the soldiers are in trouble.
Someone should be out there broadcasting with a ham radio though.

Given the opening scene of last episode, does anyone else think that putting Sasha in a tower with a sniper rifle is a really, really bad idea?

I'd say the best way to fight zombie hordes isn't with traditional military forces, but a large pit and a boombox. As shown quite recently, zombies will happily jump off a bridge in order to reach whatever it is they're chasing, with predictable results. IE the best military setup you could have to clear large-scale zombie groups is a company of army engineers and some reconnaissance troops, ideally in helicopters.
In other news AMC's making a Walking Dead companion series set to take place immediately before and during the zombie apocalypse. That has potential! :)
