In the swords and wizardry version are there any suggested class level limits anywhere for the new races (other than half Orc)?

Hello,
I have just got the RC book, and I don't know if this is the forum to ask as the publisher does not seem to have a forum.
I don't get the history of the area.
I get that its left a little vague, and please read the below with the understanding that I understand that I can make it all up as I please. I just thought with the hype that it was a little disappointing.
So who governs the place. There are pirates that must be preying on merchant traffic or there would be no point being there. There must be some economy.
So is the place governed by a Military/Political power or an Economic one. Some info about these people would have made sense.
There seems to be on info in the history which is annoying. Someone must be in control, and this info from the important movers and shakers would have provided adventure opportunity by itself.
The setting alludes to it being a long way from civilization and again this does not seem to ring true for me. Some one must have an interest in the place.
The map appears lite on for settlement info or even a population of the place. Settlements are named but not located, so how many towns are there?
Necromancers are mentioned who ruled the area, but there again is no time line of history. For the size of PS I got the impression it was a very new colony, I was puzzled by the amount of piracy that went with it but the more I read the more confused I became.
I don't know probably rambling at this stage and not being clear, so I will leave it at that and fill in the blank grey area's myself, but I was expecting more. The more being a better history and current situation that would allow me to come up with further adventure idea's or reasons to be at the RC.

Allan

Have you read the Freebooter's Guide? It gives more information, but if you are looking for Paizo like detail it isn't there. That is not FGG style. The pirates to the north are I think left a little vague save the one floating city so that you can include your own like Freeport as is suggested at one point. As for the important movers and shakers the most important of those are included in chapter 1 in great detail. Once you read it things will become clear as to whom is really in charge! That is a rather huge spoiler!

It shows! I'm only sorry I couldn't bring myself to give it five stars. Anthologies are really tricky. The differences and amounts of supplemental material vary so much from chapter to chapter as to make a standardized rating system highly inadequate for the review.

Sovereign Court Contributor

no worries!

The question is which to run first Black Spot or Sinful Whisper? How will that affect the campaign? I was thinking Sinful Whisper would be better first, but I am open for opinions.

Any news about purchasing it from one's FLGS? Or POD?

I think many of us are looking to slot this in to an existing campaign world so the light approach works.

I'm setting this as a more southern "part" of Sargava (the way Korvosa was part of Magnimar but then broke loose) down by the Shackles in Golarion. That gets me the colonial-type power and the pirate lords and the tropical environs.

In my experience the more "history and stuff" a 3pp AP tries to put in, unless they are actually publishing a campaign setting product, the worse it is for me to use the product.

Also, there is a Razor Coast forum on the Necromancer Games site that FGG shares at http://necromancergames.yuku.com/forums/82.

My print books came in while I was out this weekend! Started reading Heart last night. Good stuff! And I even got credits in two of the books, so I get to be alpha geek in my local gaming group for a month at least :-)

Great job Lou on getting it all put together, even when I was helping edit RC I wasn't sure this would ever come to fruition and I'm super happy it did. I credit your diligence and the good karma the whole Pathfinder community seems intent on building up!

Yay! Got my shipping confirmation. Soon this will be in my hands. Soon.

Actually brvheart, I would do Black Spot first.

Reasoning:
I find it far more likely that Captain Riggs would target people without any connections in Port Shaw to "disappear." For good or ill, the PCs will have connections after Sinful Whispers.

Just my take on it. :)

Here's my unboxing of Razor Coast through Glass. :D

Mine arrived today!

Just my take on it. :)

I get what you are saying, but I am having a hard time finding a good hook that would convince my group to get back on a boat to who knows where for unknown reward?

SHOW:
I figure I would almost offer them anything as he has no intention of paying. Except they just went through that with Scorned. With my group I may even skip this one. Not that it isn't a good adventure, I'm just not sure if it is a good fit for them while Sinful Whispers would be ok at least

Of all the adventures in Heart of the Razor, The Black Spot is the one that seems the most out of place. As I said in my review there is a reason that these are optional adventures.

Personally, I am very much looking forward to running "The Black Spot" and will be trying to lure my players into going off with Captain Riggs as soon as they make it into port Shaw. Of course, after "The Wormwood Mutiny", they have their own ship, so he'll simply be paying them to tag along on the expedition.

"Call of the Frog God" is a work of genius, too. I'm glad I sprung for the Swashbuckler package so I could get a copy.

"Angry Waters" looks great as well, and will almost certainly be in my level 10 arc, along with Goodman Games' 3.5 Dungeon Crawl Classic "Bloody Jack's Gold", which I may use as the final resting place of Garr Bloodbane's treasure.

The package cleared Danish customs today! Of course, now the wait becomes absolutely unbearable, knowing that it's sooo close...

Ooooohhh! You are no help Power Word Unzip! Too many choices, too little time!

Wait.

I get it. It's Nick. Go figure.

Let's get the TL;DR up front:

I have bought the .pdf and now I want to buy the Hardcover. Why can't I?

Long story:

I really dig this AP, but navigating the .pdf is turning out to be a nightmare. It takes forever to load because the file's so huge; I can't bring it (or printed portions of it) on the subway with me, because nothing is in one place; for any given encounter near a certain level, I need to scan several places for all the relevant rules/backstory and those places are hundreds of pages apart (compared to maybe a dozen when dealing with one book of a regular AP) which is fine with a sticky note in a book but a pain with a .pdf.

Paizo.com will literally not even sell me the book+pdf combo, and I'd frankly rather pay something less than a Benjamin for the hardcover when I've already dropped two Jacksons.

Can anyone point me to a resource where I can inquire about buying a hardcover _by itself_, especially for _less than_ $100?

I don't think you are going to see it, I'm afraid. It's too big a book for any one but Amazon to sell for less, and I don't know if they will even get it in stock.

Sounds like a perfect project for an obsessed fan, creating a cross-linked wiki for the content, from what I've seen of these conversations. This might be a candidate for the one-chapter-per-file the Paizo hardbacks get due to its volume.

Just thinking out loud, I missed the KS, so I have not joined in on the fun thus far.

Razor received. Holy Pele! The book is totally worth the long wait. Really a stellar product, kudos!

Razor Coast is slated to be done in RealmWorks from LoneWolf, the folks who make HeroLab. It was one of the stretch goals for the kickstarter.

RealmWorks is envisioned (according to the pitches in the kickstarter) as an alternative delivery for GMs to run campaigns and adventures. Now, we have Print and PDF; in future, we will have Print, PDF, and RealmWorks. At least, that's part of the vision.

Any word on the progress on Realmworks as it was due out last month?

They have some demos set up for GenCon.. I would expect there will be some update included.

Realmworks looks a bit behind schedule. They just got out the Early Access release.

They ran into some issues that needed to be fixed before release that forced them to re-code some of their program. In the midst of that, one of their lead programmers and project leads became a father. So he had a lot of downtime that had been scheduled for coding that was supposed to have been done before the kid arrived. They have been very good about working on the quality of the product, so delays were inevitable.

That all said, I really can't wait to get my hands on Realmworks and begin setting up my Razor Coast/Skull & Shackles/Freeport campaign!

Hate to say this, but that was one of the reasons I did not get in on the Kickstarter. I am already running Razor Coast and I did not have enough confidence that it would be ready on time for the start of my campaign. I am going to look at it once it comes out however.

Alex try Nobleknightgames or eBay. What did the addon print version cost in the Kickstarter? $90 I think. Or just send bill web an email?

FGG products forum is on the old Necromancer Boards (here's the Razor Coast subforum), though there's not as much traffic there as here. Past products got some nice enhancements posted by fans and developers there I'd keep an eye on them still.

I think I'll try all three. Thanks for the suggestion!

I got my shipping email from Bill on the 18th of August but still have no book.

Is this a normal delay for getting stuff to the UK?

Is there any way to track shipping?

For me, simply clicking on the label number in the shipping email was enough for me to be able to track my package from the US to Denmark. In fact, the USPS tracking page was, sadly enough, more accurate than the local postal service tracking page.

Oh, and for what it's worth, mine shipped on Aug 5th and I only just received my package today.

I just got the mail that the package is stuck in German customs again. (RA came through, oddly...) *sigh* Oh well, at least it's here! :D

They made a post somewhere that although the shipping was beginning pre-GenCon there was going to be a brief hiatus. Next week their plan is to get stuck in and finish off the outstanding orders. It's possible your shipment hasnt gone out yet.

I got my books yesterday and the overall content looks wonderful. But .. the binding of the main book though was split (if that's the right word) in the back. Also their was a place where some pages stuck together and didn't separate cleanly. I'm not sure the packing was quite enough given the thickness of the book and shipping it to the other side of the world (Korea). If the book was thinner or the shipping shorter... I have know idea what to expect back from Frog God but I emailed to let them know. I'm not exactly pleased to have the issue with the book, that said, Frog God has been awesome just to get this out etc and after a four year wait and I'm very happy regardless! I did wonder if anyone else has had binding issues or any issues with the pages.

What you can expect from Frog God? Let fulfillment know and they will replace it for you. They are very good about that.
