I think threads that want to limit the freedom to express one's opinions should be banned, and not just on a temporary basis.

Some of these are less "every thread has a risk of degenerating into them" and more "there was one big thread about them once".

I have to add the following topics:

- Is grease flammable
- can I cast unlimited merciful 1st level spells
- I want to play a dhampir without the drawbacks

I just hope you still don't think they are Kill-on-Sight for the Pharasmin clergy.

Are there really that many threads being derailed into discussions of dhampirs?

I also can not tolerate these intolerances.

Were you referring to the 'Monks are UP, no one would want to play one, EVAH' threads, or the 'Waaah, Paizo seems to hate monks; monks never get nice things' threads?

'Cause I'm pretty much fed up with either.

Roberta Yang wrote:

There have been numerous threads concerning the dhampir in the past.

Not nearly as many as those on the Monk and its problems, but still a notable amount.

Why ban a topic...if you don't want to read about it, skip the thread...

The only one of those that actually pisses me off is the subset of alignment threads about Paladins.

And even so, I do occasionally enjoy wading into the sea of stupid that is the typical paladin thread.

Do your own part then. Keep out of those threads when those subjects come up. It's really that simple an answer.

Lazar, just because someone doesn't want to see such threads doesn't mean they themselves have ever taken part in them.

With that in mind, may I ask what exactly was the point of your post here? Because I doubt I'm the only one who's not seeing it.

It doesn't really matter because I will not play in a game where there is a dhampir pc (except everyone plays monsters) and I will not allow one as pc when I'm the GM.

But the fact that 90% of all dhampirs you read about on the forums are divine spellcasters (inquisitors and Paladins most often) shows me that they are not played for good rp reasons but for the "I play a monster but because I'm a follower of an accepted god you have to like me".

Good news: paizo is banning all these threads in about 5 hours.

You are not "the only one worthy" to define what is a good RP reason. One very good RP reason to play a Dhampir is the whole "expert vampire hunter" thing which is a stock for all Dhampir, and it fits considering there are two specific Inquisitor archetypes (one of them is Dhampir only, in fact) for vampire hunting. Also, do you consider the Aasimar and Tiefling to be Monsters as well, despite the Advanced Race Guide giving guidelines on how to play them as well as many other races? If that's the case, then I pity your players and am happy to not be playing at your table.

The point of the post is that volountary action on one's own is generally preferable than trying to mandate the actions of others. Gaming messageboards have been cesspools of argumentation since the days of 300 baud modems. That's not likely to ever change.

Please go on. I wasn't aware anyone had a problem with the monk. Is it because they're the best class?

For me, I'm tired of seeing all the math breakdown of dps vs. classes, monks in armor, or help me make a supah powerful blaster arcane caster who is of divine magic type.

Seriously, it's not WoW, no one really cares if your dps is substandard. Are you having fun? Is your group having fun, then you're doing it right.

You can't have much fun if your entire party dies a boring, meaningless death that also dooms half the world.

According to my calculations, the DPS for fighters is 0 because fighters can't fly and you can't melee what you can't reach.

Can we put "The election" as #1 on this list.

Woah, I thought you wrote "The Eidolon" and not the election. That would have been worse.

The election would be #0

Those threads have been behaving quite nicely and staying in the "Off Topic" areas where they belong. So they really aren't a problem.

Unless you now have a private war with the existence of the Off Topic forum?

So basically you want to ban 90% of the topics? Ok

OK: To whomever "we" are: here is how you enforce your "ban":

Click the little 0 with a slash by it on each thread that has this topic on it. There, "we" have "our" personal "ban" and the rest of the board members have their freedom to post on any topic they have typically enjoyed from the good folks at Paizo.

Is that the remake of "Young Guns" with an all Korean cast ?

I'm GMing for a party consisting of an Aasimar, two tieflings, an ifrit, a suli, a catfolk and a drow.

No, the only race I hate are Dhampirs.
And that is aggravated by all those threats about ppl who want to play them but don't want to accept the drawback of not being healed by normal healing spells. With the worst of all being that some GMs seem to be willing to accept that and ignore this drawback.
But if some player came and asked to be allowed to play a dwarf with 30ft base speed every gm would decline that.

And thus my first posting in this thread that I'd like to see such topics banned.

My favorite would probably be threads that devolve into an argument over the definition of "attack action."

Looking at you 8 page sunder thread....

Yes, I agree on banning all these. But clearly there should be more threads on whether killing goblin babies is evil.

I propose we make more of those threads!

Why stop with Korea? And I think "Tombstone" would be much better remake in that vein?

Can the Asian Guns be played entirely by underpowered Monks? I feel like they should be incapable of flight, be confused on their alignments, and have an eidolon with the antagonize feat....

Jet Li as Wyatt Earp
Jackie Chan as Doc Holiday

I think this just got green lit

Hey, let's talk about Rogues!

Ah, but will the adversial GM allow them to get access to spellcasting? Otherwise, they can't have nice things...

Someone's testy. Did someone pee in your Cheerios?

Guys, I'm pretty sure Rogues are broken and need to be fixed through some focused thought and discussion.

I'm really surprised no one has made a thread about this.

I suddenly have an urge to find a way to make a thread about all ten of these things at once. Maybe about how the Monk sucks because it puts a "Lawful" constraint that really puts an undue straightjacket on eastern religions/traditions, highlighting how frankenstinian the mesh-up between eastern and western fiction really is. That mesh up, of course, lead to getting guns in my medieval fantasy spreading the proverbial mayo even thinner. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if the Monk was good, but in a game that allows such overpowered things like the Synthesis and other Spellcasters, how can any melee combatant keep up? The monk being sub-par for that by being so MAD (I mean, even other Finesse Fighters get Dervish Dance, I mean why are they allowed that kind of BS while a Monk has to spend on three stats?). I'd say that the Monk's Acrobatics an Speed let them actually do something in a fight against ranged or flying foes (unlike basically every other melee-er), but that implies the Monk can do anything but twiddle their thumbs dramatically. I guess you could say that the Monk could just focus on Dex/Wis anyways and be a tank but what are they suppossed to do, buy Antagonize? So the only way they can be relevant is to rely on a feat that we all know is OP and BS. imHo, all these problems are just because of the secret Paizo conspiracy to cater to players that just feel so illogically entitled to play whatever nonsensical thing they want to. YOu have no idea how often I have to shoot them down. It's created an environment where my GM constantly shoots down all my ideas that are, of course, good and perfect in every way and totally brilliant.

But, that's a troll urge, so I shall not make another thread containing all 10 of those points.

But he can flurry with body parts, guns, and spells all at once right?

I think they should just Sticky those topics at the top of the forums and trap everybody there.

Like always happens to Monks...

(Not sure what that last bit means--I just wanted to make a Monk joke.)

We should ban all political discussions. They just breed arguments and have nothing to do with the hobby. Besides its not like a government think tank is gonna scroll the boards here looking for advice. Unless the government wants to regulate DPS.

. . . it was a stupid show. Really? Adrian Monk was just plain out weird. Oh. OH, were you talking about the Monk class?
