An interesting message on the top of the Paizo page appeared...
The paizo.com website will be offline for scheduled maintenance Tuesday, October 16 at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
The downtime is expected to last between 3 and 10 hours.
What do you guys think is happening that might take that long of a time?
Are they replacing those ducks they are always trying to get into a row with ponies?
Did someone forget to feed the Gerbil?
Is the entity known as PostMonster General preparing for his release into the matrix?
Or...
Is the cable man coming and they have to close down to wait for him to come there and the cable company could not give an exact time of his arrival, just some time between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

It sounds as though the Paizo people are not very confident in their security procedures to keep the goblins secure while they are being transferred into the shipping containers. I expect thorough reporting on the epic 10-hour dungeon crawl that is going to be required to get them back.

We're upgrading a couple things. The variance in expected down time is basically, if all goes well, we'll be done in a couple hours. If not, it'll take us longer to roll things back.
When we're all done, you shouldn't notice anything different. No new features, this is just infrastructure stuff.
But I did not see a probability density function or a moment generating functuion so how do you know the varience? ;p

Sure, thought i don't know where in the US Paizo are located.I only know US time zone is about -5 to -8 hours compared to my zone.

We're nearing completion on a major refactoring of the messageboards code. Mostly it's to add support under the hood for Paizo Game Space, but there will be a few usability and appearance tweaks, and I'm hoping it'll perform better than the old code.
I'm sure this is all well and good and if I was 20 years younger it may very well made a lick of sense.
As it stands, all you kids get off my lawn!

Then let me explain using the universal language, Small words SHOUTED LOUDLY!
PAIZO, WANTS TO DO STUFF.
PAIZO.COM CAN'T DO THAT STUFF NOW.
SO PAIZO IS POKING IT WITH A STICK UNTIL IT DOES THE NEW STUFF.
That's why the website went down. there may have been Goblins and Fire involved. and the Sticks may or may not have been Pointy as well.

In case anybody's curious, this post describes some of what's planned for tomorrow's downtime.
