I am planning a new game/campaign in the Forgotten Realms and would love to run my players through Hollows Last Hope and continue on into the Kobold King saga.
But, I love the Realms (call me whatever you want) - at least MY version of the Realms and I want to place Darkmoon Vale somewhere in the Realms.
So, I asking for advice > give me some locales where the Vale would be a good fit in the Forgotten Realms.
Thanks!

I'd just change Falcon's Hollow to one of the Dalelands. You could substitute the dwarf origins of a lot of the ruins to Myth Drannor sites. The Lumber consortium could have moved in from the closest major country. Which one would depend on which Dale you pick, but Zhentil Keep might be telegraphing things a bit.
If your group has fun with the conversion I would HIGHLY recommend running the Age of Worms Forgotten Realms variant campaign. The original is written for Greyhawk, but Paizo has a web supplement to convert it to FR available here:
Dungeon Web Supplements Age of Worms starts with #124.
I ran this for my group, and it was incredible. AoW may actually work better in FR than Greyhawk. It turned out being the last thing I ran in the FR and it worked as kind of a goodbye kiss to the setting.
All this of course is dependent on you running the game in the pre-Spellplague realms. I'm just assuming you're not since you said you like the FR setting. :)

Western heartlands has all you need, as written above. You have Iriaebor as a huge city, tons of little villages, the Zhentarim influence out of Darkhold, forests, mountains, rivers... If you want to add in ancient ruins, the netherese are always willing to provide, and Malarites do well as lycanthropes.

Many areas of Darkmoon Vale are like Yellowstone Nation Park in that there are many natural hot-springs and geysers.
That begin said, the area in and around Neverwinter Wood (as described in 2nd edition) has many natural hot springs and such because of the high geothermal activity under Neverwinter Wood itself.
The isolation of that area and the similarities of Neverwinter Wood with Darkmoon Wood (both being fairy-woods of sorts) also makes locating the town of Falcon's Hollow within this area ideal IMHO, though you would have to alter the whole "Neverwinter Wood has never been logged by men" in order to fit the Lumber Consortium in... But with a little modification, it can be done.
Heck, you could even substitute Mt. Hotenow with Droskar's Crag.
