Krakens in Pathfinder?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

What are the Krakens in Pathfinder like?

I've looked around, but the Pathfinder wiki doesn't mention them appearing in any adventure paths (and I don't currently have the money to buy all of them quite yet), and I have all of the Monster Revisited books.

So all that I can really find about the Kraken is the short blurb in the Bestiary. They are one of my favorite monsters and I love how Pathfinder has them at the much-more-appropriate CR 18. But aside from a vague mention in the Bestiary about them possibly being the true lords of the deep, I can't find much about them--in Pathfinder in general, or in Golarion in specific.

Could anyone point me towards which books they show up in?

Thanks.

There are a couple mentions of Kraken actually. There's one in the dragon empires books that rules a landlocked nation of slaves. there's another... I think It's in lost Kingdoms, that is reassembling the chalice of Lissala in order to lure people to their dooms to sacrifice to her and revive her faith. they're also in Mythic Monster's Revisited, and I think there's one near Katapesh that makes all sorts of magic jewelry, I forget the source of that Kraken though.

Basically on Golarion Kraken are Singular foes generally ruling over an array of "lesser creatures" they're obsessed with jewelry, usually making their own armbands and circlets, but sometimes trading or buying them from others if the maker is prestigious enough. They're also generally evil masterminds.

...

Crap. I completely forgot about Mythic Monsters (the local game store doesn't get new pathfinder stuff that often). Seems I am missing one.

Sorry about that. I feel sort of like an ass now.

Thanks for telling me where they show up--hopefully I can get our GM to stick one in the next session.

I'm going to go check to see how much money I have.

There's also the blurb from the timeline in the Inner Sea World Guide:

"4700: Over the course of the month of Rova, the eyeless bodies of 13 krakens wash up on the western shores of the Isle of Kortos."

Kraken are the reason Aboleths live in cities. With mutual protection, they can stay relatively safe... but leave the cities and they are at the mercy of the merciless.

Check out Qwoshokk from Mythic Monsters Revisited in the d20pfsrd...

The Kraken entry on the same site contains some ecology and additional stuff from MMR.

There was an Ecology of the Kraken article in Dragon #334.

The perhaps soon* to be published Razor Coast has a Kraken BBEG.

*) Looong story.

You forgot to take into account that many Aboleths take levels of Wizard. The statblock in the Bestiary is a lesser Aboleth, a young adult. The "true" Aboleths would probably shatter any insolent Kraken coming their way, mentally first and then physically as well, most likely using Telekinesis rather than deign to use its tentacles. I believe this claim of mine will be confirmed once the Inner Sea Bestiary is released, as I heard rumours of an alternate Aboleth there that fits my description.

Actually, krakens and aboleths are pretty evenly matched. And both hate it so much.
