Pathfinder Society Clarifications - Please Help!

I'm just starting to play Pathfinder in their sanctioned Pathfinder Society games. I've read through the resources, including the Pathfinder Society guide, but would love some clarification from you guys who know better.

1. I have a 4th level and 8th level chronicle sheet from Gencon when I played PFS for the first time. I used pre-gens for both. I am just about to start playing in a sanctioned game (a 1st level ninja) and was thinking about taking those two chronicle sheets and using them to get additional gold. I don't really get how that works and I'm worried that, if I do apply them to get additional gold, does that mean I can never play those scenarios to get PP and exp? How does that work exactly?

2. If I GM a game, but also have played that same module with my character, my understanding is I apply both chronicle sheets to my character (1 of each) - is that true?

1. You have to wait until your ninja reaches the appropriate level to apply those chronicles to him. You don't get any of the benefits of them until then. However, once he reaches the tier those chronicles are for you can immediately apply them and gain all the benefits.

2. You can earn one GM chronicle, and one player chronicle, but they must be applied to two different characters.

1. Under the current rules, you must wait until the character reaches the level of the pregen to apply the chronicle to the character, you cannot simply take the gold and forget the PP and exp.

2. You can apply the module under played credit to one character and under GM credit to another character, but not both to the same character.

Apparently, you can apply both chronicles immediately to a new 1st level character, but you must reduce the gold earned on both chronicles to 500gp.

Jareth I was checking the guide. I am not 100% sure that you can apply both chrons to the same "new" first level character. Simply because once the character gets their first chronicle I don't know if it still counts as new.

At the very least you could use the level 8 chron for the new lvl 1 character and hold the level 4 one until the character reaches the right lvl for whatever sub tier you played at.

For what it's worth I would say that there is little harm in letting someone apply upto 3 pregen earned chrons to the same new lvl 1 character.

See, that's what I was reading - it seemed I could take pre-gen chronicles and add them to my first level character to score some starting gold (limit of 500 gp per chronicle). But then, I must assume, I can never play those scenarios with my character.

Also, what modules are allowable to play for record? Can you go all the way to season 1 and work up?

Thanks for the help!

You can find the sanctioned modules listed here and scenarios here. Retired scenarios are no longer allowed for credit, and have their own separate listing. All non-retired scenarios from Season 0 onward are allowed for credit, although earlier scenarios require some adjustment due to the evolution of the campaign. The Guide to Organized Play lists what you need to do to run Season 0-2 scenarios.

Firstly, you've played these scenarios, so you can never play them for credit again. The fact that it was a pregen character is irrelevant, you can only play each scenario once for credit (your first play-through).

Secondly, you say you have an '8th level chronicle sheet'; do you mean you played a 7th level pregen in a scenario run at tier 8-9? In terms of applying the sheet, it's the pregen's level that matters, not the scenario tier.

In terms of applying these to PCs you've created yourself, as it says on page 6 of the PFS Guide to Org. Play, you have the option of applying a chronicle sheet from a pregen to a brand new character with a reduced gold award, or you can hold them to be applied when the PC reaches the level of the pregen that played it.

Lets say your chronicle sheets are:

#6-66: 'Tide of Absalom', played with a 4th-level pregen, earning 1 XP, 2 prestige and 1800 gp
#9-99: 'Among the McGuffins', played with a 7th-level pregen, earning 1 XP, 1 prestige and 5000 gp

If you want to apply them both to the same PC, you could:

- Apply #6-66 immediately, giving the new PC 1 XP, 2 prestige and 500gp (plus starting gold), play the PC for several adventures, then apply the sheet for #9-99 as soon as the PC reaches 7th level (giving the stated XP, PP & gp reward on the sheet)

- Apply #9-99 immediately, giving the new PC 1 XP, 1 prestige and 500gp (plus starting gold), play the PC for several adventures, then apply the sheet for #6-66 as soon as the PC reaches 4th level (giving the stated XP, PP & gp reward on the sheet)

- Play the brand new PC as-is, then apply the sheet from #6-66 at 4th level, and the sheet from #9-99 at 7th level, both giving the rewards stated on the chronicle sheet.

You can't apply both chronicles at 1st level (thereby starting your PC with 2 XP and 1000+ gp).

All clear?

Crystal clear! Thank you for breaking it down for me.
