Is the spell BLEND over powered

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

What do you think?

At the least it is awesome.
Probably better than vanish if you have decent stealth.
Best rogue choice for major magic talent?

WOW... I can't believe that one never stood out before when I read that book. That is absolutely INCREDIBLE... I am actually stunned. For a 1st level spell....

10 mins a level, and being able to use stealth without cover or concealment? that is hugely beyond most* 1st level spells in power level...
The +4 stealth is just a huge dollop of gravy. And yeah, wicked good choice for major magic for rogue for sure. Even a ninja would make fantastic use out of that.

*EDIT: the only reason I have to say 'most' instead of 'all' is Color Spray. But yeah, wow.

Grand Lodge

You still need to be unobserved.

Yeah, but if you have a high perception score (which I assume you would want anyway) you can usually see them and -prepare/start moving in stealth- way before they can see you, and so it doesn't take away much from the fact that it is still ridiculously powerful for a first-level spell

So the only advantage of vanish is you disappear even if observed.

I am taking this so my magus can scout!

Guys what book is that spell in?

Advanced Race Guide.

Advanced Race Guide. Elf spell.

Blend certainly fills a needed niche, but I'd hardly rate it as overpowered.

Compare it with its closest cousin Disguise Self - same basic spell type, same duration, both affect both you and your gear, yet Blend only grants a +4 Skill bonus whereas Disguise Self provides a +10 Skill bonus. Blend fails on turns you move faster than half speed, and ends completely if you attack - not so for good ol' Disguise Self. Both spells are handy for infiltration type situations, but whilst Blend can potentially prevent you from being spotted at all, Disguise Self gives you more leeway to do things (such as run, or knife the guards in the back once they turn away from you) and still keep going.

So while it's a lovely spell for the right sort of character, it hardly breaks the curve.

IMHO, natch!
