Liberty's Edge

Otherworld Miniature Indigo crowd source funding event....

Looks pretty awesome. Started today and already reached the $5,000 goal now help get to the stretch goals.

I really like the old school look, but those seem really expensive for unpainted plastic minis.

That is because they aren't plastic. The pictures are of the greens, which are the originals they use to make the molds. After they describe all of their box sets they say they will be supplied with scenic bases are are cast in pewter.

Liberty's Edge

@Sebastrd- Yea as Caineach has said they are pewter.

Otherworld does an extremly good job on their mini's. At least the ones I have got from them they are pretty much "mold line" free. They even send me a miniture and tell me they are going to send me another one but it will be a couple weeks. Because "they were not happy with how the mini looked due to exsesive mold lines". This only happened once with their "mule".

Still wish I kept my Pig Face Orks I sold at Gencon. Nicely painted and all. Just have to get more and repaint I guess.

Probably could keep it down to 25 Orks or so this time instead of going overbaord and getting 53 of them.

Really like their Kobolds as well.

Think it will be interesting to see what some of the strch goals are...

I really like their scenic bases. Got them with their Giants and it adds a nice "heft" for the mini's not to tip over.

Liberty's Edge

Basically if your in at $280 that comes to $70 for a box of 12 miniatures. That breaks down to $5.83 which also includes shipping any where in theworld.

Another bonus is each box comes in a box with foam from Feldherr Cases which if it is similar to their basic box it is a $7.99 value...or regular $15.99 but on sale.

So I think the price per mini is on par for a comparable reaper mini.

Then the "Stretch Goals

•If we reach our initial target of $5000, all levels of support will receive a bonus gift of a 'Weapons & Equipment Pack', designed for converting your characters to suit your precise needs.
•If we reach $10,000, all contributors at Level 4 and above will receive a free 'Treasure Items Pack'.
•Reaching a goal of $15,000 will see all backers of Level 5 and above granted a bonus pack called 'Adventurers' Campsite', featuring bed-rolls, a campfire & cooking pots, and other paraphernalia.
•At $20,000, all backers of Levels 6 & 7 will receive an 'Adventurers' Cart Set', pulled by an expedition mule and piled with adventuring gear, looted treasure, and a fallen comrade.
•Further bonuses will be added later, if required."

Its already at $8,850 so think all the strech goals currently up will be reached easily.

I am liking the project.

Sovereign Court

The reaper kickstarter pretty much tapped me out. Otherwise, I'd be all over this.

Liberty's Edge

Well you do have 26 more days. :O)

At $9,970?

Liberty's Edge

What I want to see in this is miniatures of the same character on foot as well as mounted. Then a person could use that for the "convoy duty" then have the other for the dungeon crawl., etc.

Just think it would be awesome.

Plus finally get that Mule Handler or other obscure character in the fourth box.

Already past the second goal. Think the third goal will be passed with 23 days left....

Of course got email today on Reaper bids...so....decisions! :O)

Sovereign Court

I love Otherworld's sculpts and their old-school style.

But... I've just added minis on the Reaper Pledge Manager and this is a more expensive pledge than reaper.

I wish it was finishing ten days later so that it went into next month's pay-packet.

I like the old school feel of these. But do I have the money? That is the real question. Fo rme, I would need to pay someone to paint them fr me. :-(

Liberty's Edge

Yea. I have been considering upgrading to the Vampire level and getting the extras I wanted instead of staying at my current level and getting the large creature extras from Reaper. The price to to do Vampire and the extras I want is only $12 more than just doing my goul level and getting the extras.

Just don't need most of the smaller minis since have them....

I also dropped a couple of Kickstarter's I was interested in to do the Otherworld campaign.

It helps the the PFD comes out in October formAlaskans. I also have to line up the funds for the Rise of the Rune Lords special edition....

Tight couple of months...then it leads into Christmas. ;-)

Also I really want to get some of these poker chips I can use for various things.

Game Knight Poker Chips

Decisions. ;-)

Very tempted by this one, even if my wallet's not going to thank me for it.

I expected as much, but I wasn't sure. Unfortunately, I have no time for nor skill at painting. Luckily, I have no money either, lol.

A update posted a day ago.

"Well, it has been a great start to the campaign! Many thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. We’re only 4 days in, and we’ve already reached our initial goal and surpassed the first 2 stretch goals. For a small company like Otherworld Miniatures, this level of support represents a significant sum, which will allow us to produce some wonderful new products for you all.

Since the campaign launched, we have secured the services of some new sculptors, including David Soderquist of Bronze Age Miniatures (he’ll be working on the Halflings, Gnomes & Dwarves), and John Winter of Tin Man Miniatures (some females and Elves).

The rapid success of the campaign has also meant that we’ve had to come up with some new stretch goal bonuses for our supporters, beyond the initial $20k level. They will be:

1) At $25k – Level 4+ – A pair of War/Guard Dogs – 1 sitting, 1 standing, wearing studded leather collars & harness

2) At $30k – Level 7 only – Adventurers’ Stores – Crates, boxes, chests, sacks, barrels

3) At $35k – Level 5+ – Magic Users’ Familiars (standard) – cat, crow, hawk, owl, toad, weasel

4) At $40k – Level 5+ – Magic Users’ Familiars (special) – quasit, pseudo-dragon, brownie, imp

That’s it for now. I hope to have another update in a few days, with ‘work-in-progress’ photos of some new sculpts, and possibly the first concept drawings for some of the Demi-human Adventurers.

Thanks again for your superb support!

Richard Scott
Otherworld Miniatures"

It's at $17,486 right now with a little over 22 days left. So doing pretty good.

I'm going to be buried in unpainted minis, because I did reaper and now this, and I can't afford to have them all professionally painted.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The plus side is, by the time you finish painting the first shipment, the second will already have arrived. Bottleneck? I don't know what that means...

Liberty's Edge

I have yet to finalize my Reaper order myself....trying to decide how "back logged" I want to get.

Sovereign Court

better hurry and lock your Reaper order ... I think they end the window pretty soon.

Liberty's Edge

Yea locked it today.

Liberty's Edge

$21,406 with 19 days left.

Liberty's Edge

$22,246 18 days left.

Liberty's Edge

$27,181 with 13 days left.

I saw the furry hat on that half-orc sketch and I had to take the plunge- skipping the henchmen pack, though.

Liberty's Edge

Yea the half orc is pretty nice. Hope for more of similar quality of some of the later models.

This one has been a given from the start. I just needed to figure out how many of the miniatures i actually needed. Turns out it was all of them. Pledged.

This is sitting at 36K with 4 days to go. Another stretch goal was added to the 55K mark. Lets go people, give til it hurts :)

Liberty's Edge

The number of miniatures your getting if we reach all the goals....

10 Familiars-cat, crow, hawk, owl, toad, weasel Have been REACHED, still $4,000 to go for quasit, pseudo-dragon, brownie, imp, homonculus

48 Figures from the 4 different boxes- REACHED

Hireling Bonus Pack 3 Figures-REACHED

War Dogs 2 (1 Standing, 1 sitting)-REACHED

Dwarf Mercenary - $9,000 to go

4 Slain Adventurers - the gruesome remains of the Fighter, Cleric, Magic User and Thief from DAB1 $14,000 to go

Seated Magic-user model - a variant of the DA1 Magic-user, remodelled to drive the 'Adventurers' Cart from the $20k bonus. $19,000 to go.

Weapons & Equipment, Treasure Items, Adventurers' Campsite, Adventurers' Car REACHED

So TOTAL FIGURES at $280 Pledge level

57 Figures-
2 Dogs-
Weapons & Equipment
Treasure Items
Adventurers' Campsite
Adventurers' Car

Equal to 63 different packs if they were being sold like that, comes to $4.44 a figure size pack.

If you have seen Otherworld Miniatures before you know they are of HIGH quality and great poses and very little to no "flash".

Plus 4 Cases from Feldherr Cases US & Canada not sure if it is just foam in a box or one of their MINI Cases.

Not only do you get this large jump on this figure line from them but I am sure it will infuse any future release of miniatures for this line.

Silver Crusade

OW makes the best miniatures. I have some OW Shriekers, a Shambling Mound, and Slimes, Oozes and Jellies sets I, and II on their way! After I lost my Grenadier Shriekers, OW was the only way, and their sculpts are far superior. Everything is in metal, unless physics says otherwise. I can't stand resin or plastic. I also make sure all my bases are metal too. :)

Support OW!

Belnor.

I have to pass because of budget reasons, but the sets look like they will be great. If I had not already burned my budget on the reaper kickstarter, this one would have gotten my money.

Liberty's Edge

@Danielc- yea I posted that on Otherworld that I suspected this occurred for a lot of people.

In fact with my Reaper pledge, Sword and Wizardry pledge (three family members on the SW pledge), Numeria pledge, I am looking at dropping my collectors edition of Rune Lords coming out in November.

Also a move Dec 26th to Portland from Anchorage Alaska.

Liberty's Edge

$40,700.

Well on the way to $45,000 goal.

Means $3,500 in last 24 hours so here is to the continued climb to $55,000 for the magic user driver.

51 hours left.

But the RotRL CE is going to be shweet!

31 hours to go and almost to 45k. New concept art has been added as well.

Liberty's Edge

Yea that is why I have not officially canceled it yet.

I really want the RotRL CE but.....probably well sell left arm but we will see.

Mainly if can nail a house down for living down there probably be in a better position to know....

If only it had extended past October 31st (i.e. payday)... I would have bought a complete set.
But, alas, I can't afford it. I do wonder what the pricing will be afterwards. If it'll be their current £5 for a single human-sized miniature and maybe a set of 4 for £15?

Liberty's Edge

I hope it close to comparable to their monster lines for prices afterward....

GentleGiant.

I'd email him. Maybe you can get in at $10 level and he will allow you to pay $270 remaining on the 31st. Richard seems like a real down to earth guy.

It's worth a try anyways.

Liberty's Edge

$2,509 more to get to the final $55,000 goal.

Four hours to go.

Liberty's Edge

ONe more funder of level seven and it will be at the $55,000 goal.

Sovereign Court

They reached all of the stretch goals, pretty sweet.

I couldn't fit this in my budget this month but I'm pretty sure that I'll pick up a few of these when they go on genreal release. I especially like the sketch art for the illusionist, gnome illusionist/thief and half-orc fighter/cleric.

I've been satisfied ever since familiars stretch goal was reached. Cool that the other stretch goals was achieved as well.

I can't wait for these mini's to be delivered. By far the mini package i'm looking forward to the most.
