Shovels, Camo nets, and pit traps

Rules Questions

A mundane Shovel lets you dig at a rate of 2 cubic feet per minute.

A Camouflage Netting (UE) allows you to cover an object by making a Survival check at a -10 penalty. The check result is the stealth DC of the netting.

Any thoughts on using this as a mundane way of defending a campsite? While setting up camp, 1+ party members can dig a pit(s), Take20 on a Survival check to cover the pit(s), and have a few squares of mundane traps from bandits/animals/etc. In the morning, you just pick up the nets when you break camp.

2 cubic feet per minute isn't very fast at all, when you consider that a 10 x 10 x 10 pit is 1000 cubic feet. so, one person is going to spend over 8 hours digging one useful pit.

A 5x5x5 pit would be 125 cubic feet, taking 62.5 minutes of work to dig.

A 5' pit is more than enough to cause problems for attackers. If you were staying put for more than 1 night you could always expand the pit.
