Making a Magic Quiver

Homebrew and House Rules

In our game the Ranger has been doing exceptionally well but when it comes to random loot she's been getting the short end of the stick. The other players are sporting +2 weapons, magic bracers, mithral fullplate... the list goes on. Not that the game is magic heavy, but the random rolls have been favoring everyone in the group but the lowly Ranger Archer.

I want to fix this because, like I said, she's been a sport. Not once has she complained or sighed that the randomness hasn't favored her so I plan on slipping in a magic bow for her and have the Wizard who is funding their next mission for them (go collect rare reagents I'm running low on) fashion her a magical quiver.

It's a non-standard item so I'm not sure how to work up the costs and such (in case someone else wants to make one of their own).

Basically using the Ranger spell Abundant Ammunition, I wanted to create a quiver that was never empty (of non-magical arrows). Depending on the level of the caster maybe even increase it make enchanted arrows too. I don't find the concept of unlimited enchanted arrows (in the +1 or +2 range) game breaking.

For now, I'm just going with non-magical. Abundant Quiver is a 1st level Ranger spell, so what would the cost of something like this be?

Sovereign Court

How about instead, any arrow stored in it for an hour or more, becomes temporarily enchanted (the magic fading within minutes after removal)?

Unlimited enchanted arrows is not necessarily game breaking, but that is because the bonuses will not stack with the ones from the magic bow you intend to give her. I would not bother with what I believe would be a significant price increase just to get a bonus that will not stack. I could try to do the math for that though if you are set on it.

I would estimate the simple price for a quiver that creates infinite common or masterwork arrows at 4000 GP. This is based on the rules for pricing a magic item that provides a constant spell benefit: Caster Level(1) x Spell Level(1) x 2000GP x Duration modifier(2). I would probably price it at just 1800 and not more than 2500. This is based off the perceived usefulness of this item and the line below:

I am presuming "Worth" to mean usefulness. Otherwise, this is a redundant line. I am using the price for an Efficient Quiver or the Bag of Holding I as my baselines. One would allow a PC to carry sixty arrows, and the other would allow them to refill a standard quiver from the bag after every fight. Both of those items are also based on a much higher level spell. I am leaning towards the 1800 myself as this quiver does not provide any of the other useful functions of the Efficient Quiver or Bag of Holding. That is just my two copper though.

Side Note: Twenty arrows only cost 1 gold. Why not just give her an Efficient Quiver? No math, and it gives your ranger a neat way to hold her bow too.
