Goblin needed, 8th level frontliner

Recruitment

One of our players has bowed out, due to RL getting too busy. This campaign started with We Be Goblins and continued from there. We've been playing just over a year. I'm willing to play this as high as we want to go, as long as people still want to play.

Before you submit anything, please take a look at the campaign to get a sense of how the goblins interact, their playstyles, etc.

Goblins 2: The Wreckin'ing

Tark is the one leaving, and another frontline warrior type is strongly preferred. This game is a little on the goofy side, and the goblins are all crazy and crude, but with a tinge of humor to it all.

Look over the gameplay and campaign info, and if you think you'd like to play a bloodthirsty, zany goblin, please indicate your interest here.

They're good at what they do, and it's the little comments and asides that give them personality. There are a number of things specific to this game, and I'll go over it all with the selected candidate.

If nothing else, there are some giggles to be had reading this tale of utter weirdness.

I am DEFINITELY excited to make a character. I'd like to play a blue goblin soul knife who was cast out from his tribe that his blue father left him in

Sorry, but no 3.5 or psionics. Also, no guns, summoners or oriental classes.

Hmmm have you looked at pathfinder psionics by dream scarred press? It's on the pfsrd. I could come up with another concept, might take me a minute. Still interested though

Can just take over the character, or is that sacrilege? I can character act. Save the trouble of a new build. If they ever want to come back, they can take them back... I can then take another character or bow out if there is no room.

New build would be with game knowledge, so should be good ay that point.

That would be okay with me, too. He's a tough character with good numbers. Look them over, and if the player returns, you could make something else.

Works. I'll channel Gallagher! I can create a Tarkk.

The Exchange

Goblin King, pure goblin or hobgoblin allowed as well?

Just goblins.

Celeador wrote:

Celeador is a solid choice as well, if he wants Tark. With that question alone, he knows more about Goblins than I do. Just being honest.

I think that if you flip around in the game and the discussion threads, you'll learn a lot about how we operate. The campaign info thread has a brief "chapter" outline.

I'd like someone to look at it and think "Hey, I like this game. I want to play the meatshield. I'd love playing a crazy-fighting, goofy-talking goblin in this particular game!"

There's not much you need to know about gobbies the threads won't teach you.

Enthusiasm and availability are the main things. I presume some knowledge of the rules. If you want to play Tark, read a bunch of his posts and see how he was played. If you have another idea, that's fine, too.

The Exchange

Thats really cool of you Hassan, but I know that your a Great Role player so I woulden't want you to step out of the oppertunity to play in this campaign. I really liked Vonna as well as your Cleric, and I am hopeing that we get to play together in the Second Darkness campaign soon!

Goblin King... tee hee hee, I present...

Skroll will stab and Skroll will bite
Skroll will claw and Skroll will fight
Long-Shanks run and Long-Shanks Cry
Cus Skroll and Steaks will eat you all tonight!

I present Skroll and Steaks! Skroll Stomp'em Goblin Cavalier (Beast Rider / Gendarme) and Steaks is his Tyrannosaurus mount! I see Skroll and Steaks as a large "Meat Shield" able to make powerful charges and deny alot of space using his mount. I thought about what a goblin would want in life, and honestly I don't think theres anything cooler then riding a Tyrannosaurus into battle (Except Tryrannosaurus that could breath fire, that would be better)! Just think HE CAN EAT LONG-SHANKS AND ANGRY HORSES! CUZ STEAK ALWAYS HUNGRY! OM NOM NOM!

Ok, crazyness aside this is my basic idea, if I can somehow get a flaming weapon that will be cool, because fire is always better.

Hello Goblin King! Remember ME! :)

Not sure if she's what you're looking for or not(probably not considering it's just not wise to go looking for her), but I thought: 'What the heck?'. It was just too tempting not to throw her out there. :)

If not, no biggie. Reta will just have to get her revenge some other way. ;)

That's Tark! Barbarian/Gendarme. Except he rides a wolf, and has an earthbreaker (flaming, I think). He likes to bash things flat!

Tark Bashflat!

The Exchange

Yea, very similar, no Barb in the build. If the Goblin King was ok with it, I might take leadership feat for a second "pet" something equally zany and able to burn things! Seeing Skroll as kinda a "beast master" possibly use a whip, kinda a sigfried and roy'ish, I picture Skroll having been horribly maimed several times over.

The Exchange

"Stupid beasties! Skroll master! Ow! No bite Skroll! Bad Steaks Bad! *cracks whip and grabs chair threatingly* Down.... Uh oh! RUN AWAY!"

No one gets leadership. You get leftenants. It's in the discussion.

The Exchange

Thanks Goblin King, I'll check it out!

Velag taunts, "If you need big lizard to be tough, you no Tark. Me have fun turning lizard into namesake. heheheh"

Namesnake... Nofeet!

The Exchange

Haha! Streaks not like way stupid taste, Velag, so mabey you safe. But you eat words, Steak eat horses... Horses more scary than words! So Steaks more scary then you!"

Velag says, "Writtens steal words outta head. That way more scary than stoopit horses.. plus, horses much easier to eat. Any idiot can eat horse - just like your stoopit lizzard. A'sides, me kill and eat many lizzards - yours just fill more tummies."

The Exchange

And so it begins! "Nuh Uh! Uhrm... Well steaks can stomp uh hut flat! Can you?! Skroll not think so! Steaks can eat whole dirty longshank writtenz bokies! One chomp! Turn writtensz into Dino-poo!"

Reta could work. An 8th level fighter would work fine. We have an archer, so a melee-focused Reta could be a lot of fun.

They're about to do some spelljamming in space, so a big dino mount might not be the best thing to bring along.

The Exchange

Thats good to know, back to drawing board.

Goblins are small, but fast as humans. They get +4 dex, and darkvision.

They are superior to any gnome or halfling, just on paper. Any fighting that relies on dex works really well.

Cool. I'll get her updated as soon as I can then. It's been a long day today, and I've got a couple other pc's to level up as well, so I should be able to get it done by tomorrow night, if that's cool.

Hopefully I can finish them all up tonight but it's just safer to say I can have it done tomorrow just in case I'm wrong. :P

The Exchange

Still hashing out some ideas Goblin King, i'll have a new idea for you tomorrow. I really liked the fire-breathing t-rex rider though.

Velag says, "Also, me need flanking buddy so me can cut nasty-heads deeper -- rest of party is bow-shooter and witch, so thems no helps."

The Exchange

Alright so I did quite a bit of thinking last night, and after some consideration I came up with a slightly different idea for a "frontliner"

My concept is: Sawbonez (7 Alchemist 1 Master Chymist) using the archetype of (Vivisectionist and Beastmorph) Sawbones is a evil little bugger who liked to experiment on the goblin babies to make them stronger. Though in all honest he will upgrade whoever he can get his little claws on. His discovery's would include Feral Mutagen and Tentacle x2. In combat he would have a total of 5 attacks, Claw, Bite x2, Tentacle x2, along with 4d6 sneak attack damage. His CON would be somewhere around 28-26, so he should have a very healthy amount of hit points. I haven't decided what his mutagenic alter-ego would be, but I'm kicking around some ideas. I'll flesh him out later today, but this is kinda what I am leaning towards, with 5 sneak attacks a round, 3rd level spells and somewhere around 100hit point, Sawbonez is safe at the front.

If you're still looking at some ideas, here's what you get:

27 pt. buy
8th level treasure (33,000 gp)
Licktoads have swim as a class skill and are proficient with dogslicers. You may not be a Licktoad, in which case you don't get that (not that fighter types would care). You get 2 traits. Goblin traits are fine.

They're going into space, acting as bodyguards for a mercane named Cap'n Renyldz. He's supposed to get them the treasure they want, so they're nice to him for now. They may or may not spend much time in space.

You get 2 "leftenants:" Assistants with 5 levels in Adept, Expert and/or Warrior. They get 15 pt. buys and 3,450 in gear. They're not supposed to be much use in adventuring, but they can guard a settlement, crew a ship, start a new tribe, have comical mishaps, etc. You control them, and they're generally loyal, if not awesome followers.

Bump. Who's still interested?

If you have no one else, I'd throw my hat in the ring. Sounds like a blast. Consider this a dot for interest, and I will read through the thread in more detail and post a concept ASAP.

That's fine. I figured there'd be more interest. That's okay. We only need one new player. Hopefully someone who'd really get into playing the role.

I'm kinda partial to Reta right now. She was a funny character and obviously had a good time in WBG. She'd be fearsome at 8th level. LOL

:)

Now when you say Goblin traits, does that mean both of them can be Goblin traits?

Javell DeLeon wrote:

I think some of them took 2 from the list, so sure.

My idea is something like this:

Lockbox The Unkillable
Level 8 Fighter (Tower Shield Specialist)

A scrawny goblin as a child, Lockbox was constantly being beaten on by larger and stronger goblins, and was nearly killed and eaten more times than he can remember. He started wearing armour, but leather just padded his torturer's knuckles as they pounded him. So he made himself a suit of metal armour out of scraps and cast iron pots. Soon no one's knuckles could hurt him, so they started throwing rocks. Lockbox made himself a big BIG shield to carry, and no one was able to hit him with their rocks. Growing older, and carrying his heavy suit of armour, he gradually became stronger and stronger, until there were few goblins stronger than him anywhere. When he began to find adventurers, and kill them when they came for him, he found better armour, real armour, and became even tougher. Now, Lockbox is nearly unhurtable, and no one can get into his armour, just like his name implies.

Str 16 (16-2) 10 +2 Level 4+8
Dex 20 (16+4) 10
Con 15 (7)
Int 13 (3)
Wis 9 (+1)
Cha 6 (8-2) +2

Feats: Shield Focus, Greater Shield Focus, Dodge, Combat Expertise, Toughness, Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization and Missile Shield.
Traits: Advantageous Distraction, Goblin Foolhardiness
Equipment: Comfortable Mithral Full Plate +2(19000), Tower Shield +2 (4000), Ring of Protection +2 (8000), Amulet of Natural Armour +1 (2000),

AC: 39 Standard, 44 when using Combat Expertise and fighting defensively. Touch:18 Flatfooted: 34
Tank. Nuff said.

He moves at full speed (30) and would make an excellent flanking buddy.

I picture the armour as polished black, with a helmet shaped like an oversized Goblin skull. With the comfortable magic quality it is always clean (nobody's perfect) and comfortable. He can, and does sleep in it, without negative effect. In fact, he never takes it off, with the dedication that only a goblin could ever muster. He will never be caught and hurt again!

In reality, I could probably divert some of his funds from defensive enchantments to a decent weapon, as at present, his damage output would be quite low, and it would be a bit less game breaking as well.

Here's Reta's updated version, here.

I think I read somewhere y'all choose how to determine hp's by rolling or choosing half or half +1. I can't remember. Herolabs has it half +1. Will fix accordingly if you decide to roll with her.

The leftenants will also be taken care of if chosen.

Yes, 10 at first, 6 for her other levels, or 52 before adjustments. I think that's how they do it in PFS.
Or, she can roll for it. Personally, I wouldn't dare.

1d10 ⇒ 6

The Exchange

@Lockbox: I really like your concept! I was building towards more melee friendly with SA and Multi Natrual Attacks, but your AC is Huge I don't think Bonesawz would be able to land a hit on your character outside of a 19! Guys I am going to bow out from the running, good luck!

Velag says, "Lockbox? Silly name. Dwarf words. Me call you Turtle. All that steel, Turtle might be good to hide behind, though him even less sneaksie than Tark!"

He eyes Reta up and down with an appraising eye, "Me like idea of 'nother set of multiblades, it make even more fun to chop-chop-chop... Plus it be even more fun bring own girl with us, not have to save other tribes for gratitude all the time."

Although, OOC, I don't see the cost of the masterwork shield or base armour in the prices for the magic items that make the Lockbox an excellent thing to hide behind... Minor point.

Point taken. The rough figures above also spend all his money without leaving a cent for a bedroll, a weapon, tube socks, or even some food. They were meant to be a rough approximation. He'd likely loose one of the enchantments and drop his AC by 1 in order to be able to pay for those sundry expenses.

I think Reta would be the best fit for this crew. So, Javell, if you'd like to whip up your leftenants and join us on the discussion forum, we'll get Reta hacking and slashing, asap.

Lots of good ideas here, so thanks to everyone for your interest. I'll keep you all in mind should there be another opening later on.

Cool. Had fun with coming up with my submission, so all is good. Enjoy the game everyone.
