Rules Questions

Ring of Foe Focus:

Quote:
The wearer of the ring can, at will, designate any one opponent she can see as a particularly dangerous foe. She gains a +2 bonus to her AC and saving throws against attacks made by that opponent until she designates a new enemy.

What type of action is this? Generally a command-word item would be a standard action, but I've only ever seen "at-will" used to describe cantrips/orisons. So is this a standard action or a non-action?

Also, do you have to maintain sight of the target once designated?

And this bonus seems to last indefinitely until you set a new target, so it persists over time...

Ring of Swarming Stabs:

Quote:
...when the wearer is flanking an opponent, he can as a swift action deal an additional 1d6 points of damage on a successful melee attack against that opponent. This is a sneak attack for any effects that reduce or negate such damage.

Does this stack with sneak attacks granted by class abilities? It doesn't say yes, but it doesn't say no.

Conduit Rod:

Quote:

Once per day as a free action, when the wielder of a conduit

rod casts a spell with the electricity descriptor, she can teleport
anywhere that spell’s effect, but is otherwise unaffected by
the spell.

So for Sheet Lightning, that's anywhere in the 20' burst. For Lightning Bolt, anywhere in the 120' line. However, Chain Lightning is targeted. So does that just remove this spell as an option to use with this rod's ability?

Mnemonic Vestment:

Quote:
she may use a spell slot to cast a spell from a written source (such as a scroll or spellbook) as if she knew that spell. The spell must be on her spell list, the same spell level or lower than the expended spell slot, and the same type of spell (arcane or divine) as the spell slot expended. The caster must also understand the written source (such as using Decipher Script or read magic) and be carrying it. Activating the robe is not an action, but casting the spell otherwise works as normal, including casting time, providing components or foci, and so on. Using a mnemonic vestment’s properties does not consume the written source.

Without going into the "omg why even bother with a wizard" reaction...

Based on the bolded section, I assume that the spell would cast using your CL and caster bonuses?

Looks like I ran out of edit capability...I guess I should have fully read through a couple times before building the question list.

Earth Root Boots:

Quote:
The wearer gains a cumulative +1 circumstance bonus to her CMD (maximum of +10) for each round she does not move from her space.

Is this really supposed to increase CMD globally? So not moving increases your defense against Dirty Trick, Disarm, etc. on top of the logical Trip, Bull Rush, and Reposition?

1) I'd say standard action as per the activating magic items general rules, and you keep the effect indefinitely until you change it.
2) I would say it is a seperate damage roll, initially you make the attack and inflict damage then as a swift action you activate the ring and get the additional damage.
3) Yes and no? As it is targeted it would remove the option if you couldn't end up in the targets square. The no part is, it could be possible to end up in the square of a significantly larger creature, so the spell might work with that in mind.
4) Looks like.
5) Yes.

Actually, it didn't occur to me yesterday, but you can enter any target's square, you just can't end your movement in it. So I guess you probably could teleport into a target's square (provoke an AoO), and then take a move action to leave the square.
