Nonlethal damage question

Rules Questions

Is there anything you can do to help offset that -4 to attack 'nonlethally?'

I know there is a merciful spell feat or something that changes spell damage to nonlethal... But I just played in a game where my bard needed a 18+ to hit NORMALLY... Nonlethal wasn't even an OPTION for him that night...

And I have a paladin coming up ;)

He'll kill if he has to, but I WOULD like to play a bit with the nonlethal rules a bit... Is there anything out there?

You can get the merciful special ability for a magic weapon. Or you could choose to use a sap or unarmed strikes, which deal non-lethal damage.

The Bard Buccaneer archetype can do it without penalty.

Grand Lodge

Blade of Mercy trait allows you to deal nonlethal damage with slashing weapons without penalty.

I think there's a trait that allows nonlethal damage at no attack penalty.

Found it: Blade of Mercy, from the Legacy of Fire Player's Guide. It requires that you worship Sarenrae though.

There's also unarmed strike, which is normally nonlethal (unless you have Improved Unarmed Strike, in which case you can choose lethal or nonlethal). The sap and whip also deal nonlethal damage.

Silver Crusade

The Bludgeoner feat from Ultimate Combat lets you attack with any bludgeoning weapon without the -4.

Ohhhh SCORE!!

Yeah, doesn't do much for the gnome the other night.... but hte paladin of Sarenrae?? OHHH Yeah, that's JUST what I was looking for :)

Also, you could dip one level into Monk for your Paladin, and they'd gain Improved Unarmed Strike. A monk can make lethal or non-lethal unarmed attacks with no penalties at all.
