its true. I'm here at GenCon, at the seminar where it is announced.

My Twitter has more info. Twitter.com/Jonbrazerent

Dark Archive

Score! I've waited for such an adventure path since the Mendevian Crusades were first mentioned.

Awesome! The Worldwound is exactly what I want an AP to be about :)

Are there any more details?

Jon Brazer Enterprises

I just asked, no Orcus in this ap. Sorry.

Worldwound? It's been a while since I followed up on Golarion geography but is that the area where demons or devils are coming through a rift?

Yes. Demons, that is.

Thanks for the heads up, Dale! Very interesting. A demon hunter AP could be very cool indeed.

Did the good folks at Paizo say what the adventure path's name will be?

Based on this thread's title, I assumed it would be "Demon Blight Crusade".

Dark Archive

Not necessarily. When Dale created a similar thread for Reign of Winter (at least I think Dale created the thread), the thread title played on that name but it wasn't quite the same. Something like Winter Is Coming...or some such.

Jon Brazer Enterprises

It's demon blight crusade. And yes I did create the reign of winter thread as well. FYI, I'm at the seminar where paizo will be announcing the new hardcover follow my Twitter to find out.

Dark Archive

Dude, my smartphone's pretty locked on to my Twitter feed! :)

Woot!

This will be for the new Mythic Adventures rule, which will be sorta Epic rules, but not just adding levels to the end of classes. It may well end with some Demon Lord slaying action.

Mythic Rules oh yes please.

It feels like Paizo is tailoring all their APs for me!

I'm putting it out there and I hope they listen:

Please make Pilgrimage a part of the AP. Please make Inquisitions a part of the AP.

I guess what I'm saying is please make this AP.

Although I trust whatever you do will be grand!

Nice!! I thought they might do something with the Worldwound.

Wait. I though you were joking but then I just checked the gencon updates and found out this is serious. Holy crap. I have no words for how happy this makes me.

Did they mention if travel in/through Numeria would be a part of this?

This, and the Mythic rules, sound awesome.

Jon Brazer Enterprises

They talked about numeria. Doing that would require rules for ray guns DnD flying ships. So not this time.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Ah, well, Demon Blight Crusade still sounds awesome.

Sorry if I've been sleeping under a roc for some months....

So Mythic rules will release when? Announcement link? [EDIT] Found it:

Mythic Rules announcement

And DBC will follow Rise of Winter?

Dark Archive

Yes. Shattered Star, then Reign of Winter, then Demon Blight Crusade.

I'm really not sold on the name but that's a very minor issue as long as my favorite part of the Inner Sea region gets its time in the spotlight. :)

Basically, my wish list for the adventure path would be something along these lines (assuming that the adventure path'll spend some time in Mendev before moving into the Worldwound):

- Exploration of the zealous inquisitions that plague the region
- Insight into the many different factions that make up the crusades - Profiteers vs. holy warriors
- Include celestials in the adventure path somehow (personally I'd love to see a villainous celestial, or at least an antegonistic one at some point in the adventure path)
- Dial up the war aspect of a Mendev/Worldwound adventure path. Have the characters participate in a battle Heroes of Battle-style and generally have the crusades be a backdrop for the adventure path
- Detail the cults and allies working with the demonic hordes to undermine the crusades
- Detail the cults, knighthoods, and other allies working with the hosts of heaven to prevent the demonic taint from spreading
- Describe the wardstones, how they work, their guardians, possible threats to the wardstones, a map of their locations
- A history of the Mendevian Crusades as well as the Worldwound itself

Once the adventure path moves into the Worldwound proper, I just expect proper Paizo weirdness and demonic fun. Knowing how James Jacobs feels about demons, I have no doubt that we'll be in for a treat.

And then the demons munch of the PC's. Sorry but most demons just have no social graces at all. Me personally I would make the PC's into favored pets myself. A truly epic and fitting end to a AP. :)

Silver Crusade

Oh hell yeah.

Horrible name though. It sounds like a bad death metal band. Anyone else think the name needs changing?

Totally stoked for this one though. This AP was very high on my wish list.

I vote for

How our great and terrible Dark Mistress came to Rule Golarion.

I think that's a catchy title myself.

Hey! It could be decent symphonic metal band too!

I never thought I would actually say this, but a pathfinder AP I have no interest in at all. The whole gate in the frozen north is Warhammer territory, and if I want that, I will go run the enemy within. I hope those of you who wanted this enjoy it though. I mean I've been spoiled for choice lately anyway :D

Is "Demon Blight Crusade" the actual name of the AP, or just a descriptive term?

Dark Archive

According to the OP, it's the actual name of the adventure path. I'm not crazy about the name but I finally get my gate in the frozen north Pathfinder-style adventure path so I'm a happy gamer regardless of the name. :)

Desperation!

Do not make it the fourth AP in a row I'm not interested in.

I'm OK with the name, I was just wondering since "Demon Blight" hasn't really been an established name so far.

To be fair, anything to do with the Worldwound was likely to end up being high-powered. I'll be intrigued to see where they go with this.

Mythic =/= Epic. Have a read up and see if you like new new concept that Paizo have come up with.

If not, I'd be surprised if the AP required the Mythic rules to run. It's more likely that there will be a cut-down version reprinted in the AP and options given on how to run if you want to ignore them completely or use the full thing.

'more likely' -> 'my random thoughts on the matter'

Yeah, it appears the internal playtest for Mythic Adventures started at level 6 so I think they may be looking to make our already heroic characters really stand out for those adventures that scream "You must win or the world dies!".

about time too, given that almost everybody has already come up with their own version of this

Love the idea, i have had them myself, dislike the name

At least it's not double S yet again.

Doesn't help.

Higher power -> less interest. Whether is a higher level cap or a brand new concept to be implemented along the way.

Hope the AP will run completely without those.

This probably will not paste correctly from a post elsewhere some time ago......

Fair enough. I'd be stunned if it didn't as I think that your views are representative of a non-negligable segment of the community. It will probably be the equivalent of playing on 'hard' mode rather than 'arcade' mode :)

Sigh. The mythic tie in is disappointing but not surprising. While I want this AP, the mythic rule tie-in doesn't make my AP subscription a lock... Crap.

I hope the players guide for thsi say "it is highly recommended that good players do this AP, and it is not recommended that evil pcs attempt this"

really high level + epic + big shining heroes

Dark Archive

I admit, at first the Mythic Rules tie-in had me disappointed. But the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
Giving a 15-17th level party (about where you finish up an AP) a stack of +1/+2/+__ "CR" items/abilities so they're able to take on a CR 25 Demon Lord at the end of an AP? (as I understand the Mythic Rules kinda sorta will)
It has some potential and solves a bunch of problems.
Put me firmly in the "interested" camp. Shrug.

It seems to me that there's too many unknowns with both the AP and the Mythic rules to really know what to expect. An awful lot can happen in a year.

I'm adopting the wait and see approach.

I'm going to speculate wildly and probably inaccurately for six months or so.

I'm definitely interested to learn more, and the approach Paizo appears to be taking with Mythic - an enhancement to established 20 levels rather than a bolt-on of additional levels, has me hopeful.

However, high-level Pathfinder characters are already very powerful. I don't know that amping that power level up even further is appealing to me and my players.

If the mythic rules are designed for post-20th play, then they're likely a non-starter for us. At present, it's not an auto-cancel-subscription trigger like I had previously anticipated.

I just REALLY like the AP line. I was an original AP Charter subscriber and it was a really difficult choice a few years back when I had to cancel it to cut back on expenses. I re-upped it at the first opportunity. With Paizo's 10th-Anniversary sale, I finally filled in my "lost issues" from Second Darkness. I'm not eager to cancel the subscription again, but if the mythic/epic stuff is too ingrained in the AP, I can't justify putting up $120 bucks either...

So, I guess I'm in the "interested, but with reservations" camp... :)

First, I'm already excited about this product.

You know what would dial it up to eleven for me? If the AP fully supported running a Lawful Evil Asmodeus-worshipping group through it.

"Return of the Blood War" without ever using the term.

The heroes have had centuries to seal the Worldwound. They failed. Now only the bad guys can save the world.
