Samsaran Mystic Past Life (For Wizards)

I really like this alternate race feature, it has a lot of possibilities. If you max out your casting stat, you get 6 spells from other spell lists to choose from.

Specifically for the Wizard, what are some good spells to grab from other Arcane Caster's spell lists?

Here's what I have so far:
- Cure spells (Witch or Bard)
- Early Access to Euphoric Tranquility, Irresistible Dance, Dominate Person, Greater Dispel Magic, or Hold Person (Bard)
- Early Access to Haste and Maze (Summoner)
- Good Hope, Sound Burst, Arcane Concordance, and Freedom of Movement (Bard)
- Vomit Swarm, Speak with Dead, Heal, and Raise Dead (Witch)

Now the Cure Spells aren't exactly an optimal pick when you only get six spells, but I wanted to mention them anyway because I expect someone else to if I don't.

If you don't know what Alternate Race feature I'm talking about, here it is in this spoiler:

Samsaran Mystic Past Life:
Mystic Past Life (Su) You can add spells from another spellcasting class to the spell list of your current spellcasting class. You add a number of spells equal to 1 + your spellcasting class's key ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, and so on). The spells must be the same type (arcane or divine) as the spellcasting class you're adding them to. For example, you could add divine power to your druid class spell list, but not to your wizard class spell list because divine power is a divine spell. These spells do not have to be spells you can cast as a 1st-level character. The number of spells granted by this ability is set at 1st level. Changes to your ability score do not change the number of spells gained. This racial trait replaces shards of the past.

Early access spells from the Bard and Summoner lists.

Mass Cacophonous Call (Bard 5; this is roughly as bad as Mass Hold Monster, a 9th level spell for a wizard)

Dominate Monster (Summoner 6)

Summon Monster VIII or IX (Summoner 6)

Timely Inspiration (Bard 1 - a really useful immediate action spell - this saves lives!)

Gallant Inspiration (Bard 2 - a really useful immediate action spell - this saves lives!)

Overwhelming Presence (Bard 6)

There are lots more on these 2 lists, as due to being 6 level casters, they get high end effects in their specialties at much lower spell levels (eg 6 as opposed to 9) than a standard wizard...

Those inspiration spells are good options especially being low level immediate actions.

The most powerful thing you can do with this ART is obtain early access to high level spells, but I think I'm most interested in spells that aren't normally on the Wizard's list.

Glibness, Bard's Escape, Brilliant Inspiration, Foe to Friend, Zone of Silence... Summoners may get high level spells early, but Bards have all the good stuff.

Sorry to raise such an old thread, but I just noticed this and had to add at least one spell: Ill Omen (lvl 1, no save to force d20 rerolls). I'm sure there are more spells in the last two years that are great for this now.

Edit: get Bestow Curse at level 3 (witch)

Just remember when you get those offensive spells at lower level.... that means lower save DC's as well.

Does anything stop the wizard from learning the normal level version too?

No but having Dominate Monster as a level 6 spell is frankly far better as you can then easily add Persistent Spell to it or modify it with a standard quicken rod or cast a quickened version with magical lineage.

I don't mean to be a party p**per here, but getting spells that are already on your list earlier than normal cannot be RAI, even if it is allowed by RAW.
If one of my players would come to my table with this, I would immediately houserule it as "spells that are not on your list"
