hm. I'm all for ensuring that the person is not a serial complainant, but this is going too far. That said, this is the post we're talking about - make sure you take a lick of salt before reading.

I would like to see some more information on this, but this seems consistent with a lot of other law enforcement abuses.

There's one born every minute, I suppose. This practice should be reexamined. Didn't something similar happen with Waco?

I wouldn't call it abuse, at least not around here. People misuse/overuse domestic abuse to herculean proportions, something like this has been coming for a while, but not that I agree with this per se.

Yup.

During the Clinton administration Christian fundamentalists, "militia" members, or bikers where the targets of choice. Then, like now, vets were also seen as potential enemies. We're not all McVeigh, but some administrations don't see it that way.

(Reuters) - The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.

And during the Bush administration, it was environmentalists and peace activists.

At least the militia types tend to be heavily armed and make lots of threats.
And you know, occasionally blow up government buildings. No need to worry about them.

I didn't go through that list in detail, but I didn't see any.

That's a big difference.

It's an expansion of the policy. The CIA used to be prohibited from spying in the US, for example.

Probably none. How many deaths by militia members other than McVeigh?

Besides, I don't know what you guys are arguing about. IIRC, they killed Weaver's wife and dog under Bush I.

Well, if you're offering, I'll take all the megabytes you've got.

In the meantime, you've got me with the first article, although, I should say, we were talking about political murders and that appears to be a crime of a passion that was committed by a militia member. Although he does sound like a piece of shiznit even before he murdered his girlfriend...

I have seen the second article before and I was never able to tell whether they were actually self-professed anarchists or if that was a media tag put on them. Anarchists usually don't equal "militia movement," so I wonder what the story really is.

In the other meantime: Theodore Kaczynski

I think they just did that...

But it's not just militia, ex-military (and ex law enforcement) have a pretty strong tendency towards the types of suicide that take others out with them.

To be fair, campaigning Obama stated that his administration would have "an unprecedented level of transparency." He didnt say that it would be more transparent. So, not a lie. It IS unprecedented.

Something about that first story sounds familiar and bogus. Hopefully morwe investigation will yield something more than a quickie-this-never-happened settlement.

These are great news. The unwholesome persecution of political activists has been pretty ruthless. Good that once in a while something like this happens.

But fear not, intrepid citizens. Your noble government will see that they are held to the same standards as you! Why, I bet the process to put them on paid administrative leave has already begun and will be completed within a matter of weeks!

PS- we need you to pay your fair share in taxes, citizen. These dynamic raids and civil suits arent free, you know.
