Just recently got into tabletop RPGs with my friends, but most of them are leaving. Two of my friends and I are looking for any group willing to deal with some new players in the Gainesville, Fl area. We've messed around with a few sessions of 3.5e and PF without really doing much, but have read most of the SRD and feel pretty confidant in our ability to learn quickly. Also if there are any online games running we'd be willing to try that out as well.
i am all the way across the country in California. but if you want to get an online game going I would be super stoked to get a game going. I am new to rpgs also, though i have played some 4th edition dnd. i dont really know how online games get started and what not, but im willing to look into it if you are.
Not looking for players, i have enough, but, we use Google+ Hangouts, and it works great. I usually have 3 to 4 players in the room, and 2 to 3 on hangouts, plus a cam on me (the DM) and a cam on the map. I email handouts around etc. I only play with friends that i would hang out with, drink beer with, and smoke cigars with. I trust all my players die rolls, and we mostly laugh, and drink beer.
but, it works very well.
There are very easy ways to get a online game going. I personally use maptools (rptools.net) and a vent server and that pretty much is it. I am in the maryland area so again way far away from you guys, but if you start up a pathfinder game, I would be intrested in playing in it. Let me know firstname.lastname@example.org
@Morphelis: The more people the better; though I'm not sure how to start playing online.
@donnald johnson: I can understand wanting to keep it a game amongst friends; thanks for the suggestion though.
@Lrdpanther: I messed around with maptools a bit, but the lack of documentation maked it really hard to figure stuff out.
@Kristie Schweyer: Saw the website and registered for the forums, but I wasn't sure where to post about inquiring for games in Gainesville.
My son and I are looking for a PFS group to join. I'm in citrus county and hoping to find a game near by (ocala etc...) Weekends would be preferred. I'd consider gainesville, tampa and orlando but really would like to find a closer game.
There is nothing regular in Ocala...yet. Gainesville is a new area, so not as much organized stuff there so far but for Tampa area (includes Dunedin/Clearwater,New Tampa, St Petersburg and South Tampa) we have very regular, well-attended PFS gaming just about every weekend. You can also find a great regular game down in Sarasota, but that might be a bit far.
If you haven't already, sign up for our forums on floridapfs.org and see who you might be able to connect with. We can certainly offer some support if there is a desire to get things going in Ocala, but with our current schedules, we can't get something going there on our own.
PM me with any questions and let me know if there is a good gaming store or location you would like to suggest in your area.
