Hmm, so it looks like you can get all those feats in for the Aldori Sword Lord by third level and still dip monk for the Crane Style feats. Good times.

Of course, there are probably BAB requirements and whatnot, which I guess I will find out on the 16th.

The arclord of nex looks real interesting. I love the idea of building constructs and either having an army, having an ubergolem as body armour, or having a cannon golem with a brain siting next to you! If this makes this easier (currently, its quite hard and very costly, min 3 feats as a caster and usually in the hundred thousands to create, plus loooong creation times) Im all for it. Would like to know what that mystery feat is tho ;) What are the prereqs to get in?

golden Legionare looks intresting. Thanks for the work!

Its not a BAB that will delay you from entry on this one, just skill ranks... damn you skill ranks! Damn you to hell! But in all seriousness you don't have to wait long for entry.

Edit: Hence my original question regarding skill ranks.

Craft Construct is a prereq so you wont save on feats there. Also, you have to have that Eye of the Arclord Feat which is the Inner Sea World Guide. If anyone knows what it does can you share what it does?

Edit: Also the Golden Legionnaire has promise with a good party.

Skill ranks and BAB reqs are really just level caps. (Some different nuances)

Have you considered a one level dip in "Unarmed Fighter"? You get improved unarmed strike AND a style feat of your choice. Its something i've been eyeing for my rapier loving Bard.

Eye of the Arclord

You know I searched for it on D20pfsrd and I must have completely missed it. Thanks for that.

d20pfsrd's search autocorrects it to something that doesn't show up

When you type 'eyes of the arclord' into the search bar on d20pfsrd, it assumes you made a typo and searches for 'eyes of the arcHlord' and returns no hits.

It got me too the first time I tried to find it.

Oh, okay. I need to make sure that I make sure it is searching for the right thing before I give up. Anyways, did I do your last three classes justice?

I see that the Blackfire Adept has a strong tendency towards evil, since the only summonable creatures who summon other creatures are demons and devils.

Would Riftwarden be a reasonable prestige class for a First Worlder Summoner to take? Or would any Summoner inclined towards the beliefs of the Riftwardens just commit suicide?

Yeah, man, you've done an awesome job previewing all this stuff for everyone!

I'm glad you got a kick out of the Tattooed Mystic, that was another one I had a fun time writing.

The Prophet of Kalistrade sounds like it's changed a little bit from my turnover, I'm excited to see how it turned out!

Thanks again so much for writing these posts!

Yeah, those two wouldn't work together thematically. While there is nothing that prevents you from doing this mechanically, everything in the fluff says no.

I enjoyed writing the reviews because I know I hate waiting that last week for a new book to come out. So knowing that, I figured I could save everyone else the agony of not knowing anything about most of the material and give you some teasers to tide you over until the 16th.

I really did enjoy the Tattooed Mystic, it is an awesome class. As for the Prophet of Kalistrade I don't know how you wrote it but how it turned out is pretty good for anyone with an abundance of gold laying around.

Well, the Aldori Sworldlord is also a fighter archetype, so no dip that way.

One level dip for Crane Style is nice, but I am really looking at Crane Wing. A 2 level Monk as a Master of Many Styles, nets you good saves, unarmed strike and two style feats that ignore pre-reqs, once you have the appropriate style. It also shores up some weak saves with Monk Good Saves. You can also go either Sohei and get the ability to always act in a surprise round or go Sacred Mountain, lose evasion, but get +1 natural Armor and Toughness as a bonus feat.

It is really a strong dip if you are seeing yourself as a singleton fighter.

Just out of curiosity, which ones did you write?

I wrote the:

Storm Kindler
Veiled Illusionist
Pit Fighter
Bellflower Tiller
Sleepless Detective
Umbral Court Agent
Tattooed Mystic
Skyseeker
and Prophet of Kalistrade

Of them, I think the Veiled Illusionist was my favorite. I'm excited to see how the finished product turned out.

Nice work! I agree with Ben that there were very few changes in the ones I wrote from turnover to final. I did:

Aldori Swordlord
Arclord of Nex
Aspis Agent
Blackfire Adept
Brother of the Seal
Champion of Irori
Daggermark Poisoner
Dawnflower Dissident
Riftwarden
Shieldmarshal

I don't know if I have a favorite, as they were all a lot of fun. Maybe the Champion of Irori or the Riftwarden. So many fun little abilities spread around though. I think this product did a great job of making PrCs that are fun, integrated into the world, and have things they can do that are DIFFERENT than the base classes from which they spring, without necessarily being more powerful.

I really loved the Deggermark Poisoner. I have always wanted to do something with crafting poisons but they normally take so long to make that it made it impractical. Also I didn't include every ability that classes have, just the ones I took as being the highlight of their capabilities so it my still be close to how you wrote it but I just took its major functions a bit different then you had intended. However, I must say both you and Ben did an awesome job with these classes.

Daggermark Poisoner is also one of my favorite :)

More to the point -- Does this prestige class work the same for gnomes, halflings, and other small races as it does for humans and other medium races?

Would someone be so kind as to post the prereq for the Shield Marshal? Do you actually need to be a gunslinger to get into the class or can you just use the amateur gunslinger feat? Also are the Legal Judgments that PDKM mentioned in his preview similar to inquisitor judgements?

Shieldmarshal:

To qualify to become a shieldmarshal, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.
Feats: Gunsmithing, Quick Draw.
Skills: Diplomacy 5 ranks, Intimidate 5 ranks, Knowledge (local) 5 ranks, Perception 5 ranks, Sense Motive 5 ranks.
Special: Must have a grit pool of at least 1 grit point and proficiency with at least two firearms.

So yeah, I think Amateur Gunslinger and Gunsmithing cover it.

Thanks! I'm actually a bit surprised there isn't a lawful alignment requirement but it's nice having it open to a wide variety of characters.

Now if we could get a quick splash of the prereqs so we can plan for the FUTURE!

Also, do all the brawn PRCs get +1 BAB a level?

Riftwarden looks really cool, I'd like to see it's pre-reqs so I can do some planning on how to pick it up with my Sorcerer.

Hmmmmmm? I think you and I have shared the same name on a class, Benchak the Nightstalker. Here is my Tattooed Mystic.

I doubt that they are alike, however.

It's supposed to be a PrC that goes with the Tattooed Mystic archetype, similar to the Winter Witch and Razmiran Priest PrCs in here.

It does riff off the Tattooed Sorcerer Archetype and the Tattoo Magic from Inner Sea Magic, but levels in Tattooed Sorcerer aren't required to get into it (at least, that was the goal when writing it).

Much more magic-themed than alt-monk themed though, yes.

Rift Warden is pretty easy entry. You just need spell focus (abjuration), spell penetration and a couple of skill ranks as well as the ability to cast some specific spells.

Shadow Lodge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 8

Oh! Hey, PDKM, how is the art in the book? Any cool pieces?

Sovereign Court

Benchak the Nightstalker wrote:

All of the art was very well done. Each prestige class gets there own piece making 30 and the Winter Witch has a second in the table of contents (I assume its the Winter Witch) giving a grand total of 31 not including either cover.

Sovereign Court

Its hard to say which are the best but the Hellknight Signifier, Shield Marshal, and Blackfire Adept are some of my favorites.

Can you give any hint on what spells are needed for the Rift Warden?

Berenzen wrote:

Sorry about that, Magical Circle Against Evil as a spell or SLA

Shadow Lodge

What sort of stuff does the Noble scion get exactly, how does the gold mechanic work, and what are some of the prereques? My gf has a noble gunslinger she's been running for a few years now and this sounds pretty perfect for her

What are the mechanics behind the shield marshal being able to enforce the law?

Sovereign Court

Noble Scion: Basically his ability tree builds of the Leadership Feat idea as well a granting him a stipend equal to x*level every level. The stipend isn't huge but it is nice in a gp starved campaign or when you are close to purchasing an item but need a few more gp. As for the prereqs you need either Skill Focus or the Noble Scion Feat as well as a couple skill ranks.

Shield Marshal: Basically when you use one of your judgments (which act like an inquisitors for feats and prereqs but don't stack with the inquisitor class) you can get several bonuses. These range from extra damage, extra AC, fast healing, and a couple others.

Thanks for the quick class descriptions. This definitely sounds like a book worth picking up.

Any chance you could provide details on the Golden Legionnaire's pre-reqs and abilities?

I'm anxious about what the Swordlord and Irori Paladin does.
