I'm going nuts at work, finding it hard to concentrate I'm so keyed up for the big event! Anyone else as distracted as I am?

That's a mean question to ask this week. Can you ask it again on the 15th?

If you mean ready like, I can't wait for it to get here. Then yes!!

If you mean it like, well prepared and packed. Then no way.

Ugh.. I have to work my last day at work Friday, drive 6 hours to my new apartment where my wife and the movers will be dropping off the last of the boxes to unpack. My weekend will be spent unpacking and trying to prep 5 scenarios. Not looking forward to this.

Not valid: Gen Con is part of your job, the anticipation shouldn't be distracting you :)

I feel about half prepped on my season 3 slots and dreadfully underprepped for the special and Storval Stairs...

Well, considering I've only ever "looked" inside a beginner box once or twice, and I'm running 4 beginner box demos, not really feeling prepared.

At least my other scenarios (save the Special), that I'm either running or overflow for, I've run before. That takes a bit off my mind.

And since I'm apparently going to be getting 6 shirts sometime after I get there, I'm not sure just how many shirts I should pack, or how much room to leave for them on the return trip. :)

Same here the last time I checked it wasn't in my downloads and I don't want to be caught with my proverbial GM pants down like I was last year. This is my second time doing this and I want to come correct this time lol. Also can't wait to see all the GM's, players, and paizo staff again really hope I get to see Todd Stewart really want to pick his brain on Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

I wasn't talking about the anticipation. I was talking about being ready for Gen Con.

Dark Archive 4/5

Seeing as I ran Cyphermage 4x at PaizoCon and am running it 8x at GenCon, I'm already prepped. I just have to prepare for the two specials and I'm done.

Just about to get on a plane and head home from *this* vacation. Will need to put in a few days at work before leaving again for GenCon. ;-)

Grand Lodge 4/5

You people take the fun out everything :P

Let me rephrase since we have a bunch of pedants (pot, kettle, black, I know):

Is anyone else as excited as I am about Gen Con?

I wasn't talking about the anticipation. I was talking about being ready for Gen Con.

As you "not being ready" = "no scenarios on Friday", please ignore us and get back to work. :-)

Season 3 scenario prepped. Check.
Season 4 scenario - waiting.
Kids Track scenario almost prepped.
Kids Track rules - waiting for lesson plan. Still haven't seen Beginner's Box rules though. Hopefully I'll also get a copy in my downloads on Friday.
Stuff for my characters so I can play - almost done.
Short list for what I want at the Paizo booth and vendors booths. Nope.

Oh, and Kyle, with your busy weekend, just think if the scenarios are delayed until Monday!

Yes. Very much so. I am looking forward to seeing old friends who I only get to see once a year at the convention.

This is my first GenCon and I was so excited that I booked my flight a week early on accident! Things have been fixed, but I am so looking forward to this.

I am also looking forward to running 7 games for PFS, both of the scenarios I have assigned to me look really, really fun.

Unfortunatly I won't have much spending money, so I will have to control myself in the dealer's area.

You actually don't technically need any money in the dealer hall, you could spend the entire Con just doing game demos.

Dealer hall is a lot of fun to browse and try new games out, not to mention check out costumes. I actually allocated more time this year to it. Love the dealer hall and it will love you!

My lab mixes are named Guiness and Cider (as in Strongbow). Yes, they would get along very well. :)

Their favorite chew toys have been stuff dragons, so I'm guessing they'd really like a dragnmoon..

Well I plan to part ways with a couple things in the Dealers Hall. These dealers often will jump at the chance to buy some rarer things. Then I will have more money for the paizo booth.

So excited I have not slept well all week. It will be my first Gencon.

I haven't been much excited this year. My 4th GenCon, a lot of the excitement has become old hat. I know I will enjoy it. I know I will hemorhage money in the Dealer Hall (mostly to Paizo). I know I will make new friends and see many I haven't seen in a year. I guess I just don't get excited about much these days.

Ok, Gramps. Can we get you a nice, warm cuppa while you run your tables? Do you have your reading glasses and ear trumpet? :D

This will be my first Gencon also, coming right after a M.Sc thesis defense, moving out of my apartment, 1 day break, moving into my new apartment, and then 1 week of orientation for my new university and department which ends at noon on the 16th...

Gencon goals:
1 - Get to meet Nani, James Jacobs, Mike Brock, Mark Moreland, and hopefully lots of other awesome people I've gotten to talk to on the boards since I joined up. (Still not sure about that shady "Dragnmoon" fella though...)
2 - Play PFS at a con for the first time and have fun
3 - Hope that if I end up at any of Kyle or Painlord's tables that I have a "good showing" and/or survive to tell the tale :)
4 - Pray that my first day (Monday post-con) doesn't start *too* early...

So... not really sure if I'm "ready", but I sure as heck am nervous/excited!

Hmm, wonder what a Pathfinder Society Wooden coin costs...

My first GenCon was 1999. That was quite a year for me. I had just met my future wife a month before. I flew out early for a business trip the following week. Drove up from O'Hare on Sat morning. Took a quick walk around the dealer's room then played two 2ed Classic games, got a bite at the pub on the corner near the Arena then crashed in my rental car for a few hours before another game on Sunday morning. I wanted to go back to the dealer room again so I skipped my last game, then drove to my hotel to get ready for a week at Motorola's main site in Schaumburg, IL.

I was outside the dealer room in 2000 for the 3E speeches with my GF (now wife) and went back twice more. I haven't been to GenCon since. Never since it moved to Indy. Ten years! It's been far too long.

I'm really looking forward to it. Not looking forward to the 24 hr bus ride though. And I still need to fully prepare 3 scenarios. I can only use the excuse of not having one of them, as the others are all season 3.

None of these exist any longer. In order for more to be released into the world, cake must be presented at my table (looks in Trevor's direction).

We can have a study group on the way down. I just read the scenarios yesterday, check differences in rules tonight, I will make maps & study the scenarios again this weekend.

Ready? about 1/2 of the way there (ready formy 3rd season scenarios, not for my 4th season ones).

Ironically (or not) most of my GM stuff is packed, but not my personal stuff. Massive laundry batch in the queue for this weekend.

This will be my first Gencon. I am Gming 8 slots and playing in every slot I have free. However, I might drop out of one or two of those to roam around the con (dealer's hall?), since this is my first one after all!

Scarab Sages 5/5 **

Hi I'm Nick.
It's been 6 years since my last GenCon.

I pledge that I will only buy dice and Paizo products from the Dealer's Hall and play as much PFS as possible while trying to hide from the "Wrath of Baird."

Now that's the worst thing I've seen from you Kyle. Really cruel. You will have him miss all the PC-NPC interaction (which he should be able to live through) and get him at the table just in time to kill him. You must be going for the record on how little time a PC is at your table before he dies.

If I had to work all Gen Con, I think I would cry. I feel for you!

Don Walker wrote:

This is a good reason to stay at a hotel close to the convention center! The worst thing that can happen is playing Are you a Werewolf too late and being a "zombie" for my 8am game!

And 10 years is way too long away from Gen Con. After 2009, I said I was only going to go every 2nd year, now I find I'm going every year. lol.

I like flying to Gen Con. I use Airmiles and it costs only $150. Air miles are basically my free flight to Gen Con every year. Saves times, money, and most importantly stress.

This Gen Con is kind of special for me. In 2009 I went to Gen Con by myself. Was fun but lonely. In 2011, I went with a friend. In 2012, 4 friends are coming (including my brother!) to Gen Con, reintroducing them to gaming and roleplaying. It's going to be awesome!

Dam, can't wait until next week. If this thread wasn't here I wouldn't be reminded!
