Based off what it does, I'm estimating around 10 - 12 thousand Gp for the cost. I still forsee the item being very useful, ragardless of the level (though admittedly less useful at high levels).
This is the case for about 80% of magic item in the game.

I'm not sure it's true for 80 % of all magic items. Even if it is, I don't mind low party magic items. What I don't like are magic items that are items that you can't buy at lower levels and when you can buy it you won't because they simply aren't good enough.

There are so many items for other classes that are always useful, even at higher levels.
- All prepared casters: Pearl of Power
- Wizards: Amulet of Magecraft, Amulet of Spell Cunning, Ring of wizardry
- Fighters: Gloves of Dueling, Sash of the War Champion
- Barbarians: Helm of Fearsome Mien, furious weapon
- Paladins: Silver Smite Bracelet, Bracelet of Mercy
- Druids: Mask of Giants, Wild armor
- Etc, Etc.

Saying the new Bard items suck is perhaps not fair (with the possible exception of the robe). If you find them useful depends on the GM, Campaign, Player and what kind of bard you play. I do however find them less than impressive. Especially if you play a bard that focus on melee or archery.

I never been a fan of the cheerful , jack-of-all trades, dude with a lute or a flute, Baldur's Gate kind of a bard. Be it a Gnome, Human or whatever. If people what to play that kind of bard, fine, but a lot of us prefer a more combat oriented bard (even if some of us don't optimize as hard as Treantmonk).
I'm disappointed the picture the new bardic items is painting is the happy, jack of all trade bard with an instrument and I'm disappointed if that is all the book has to offer bards.

Still, The book seems to be very good even if the agile weapon and good bard stuff didn't make it into the book.

I hope there is something in the book for spontaneous casters. Is there?

Any details you can share about how a Page of Spell Knowledge works? Does it only work for spontaneous casters? Can you UMD it, so that a sorcerer, for example, could use a Page with an oracle spell? What is the pricing structure and prerequisites for creation?

Any ranger or Inquisitor stuff?

Any special Greatclubs and or enchantments specifically for bludgeoning weapons?

Zark: yes to both. There's a vest that'll give inquisitors a run for their money against quickcheeser's shirt. Bane Baldric. Kinda like monk's robes, but for Bane.

Makelovecraft : I believe there was a blunt enhancement. No great club that I recall.

How are mundane items organized in this book? Alphabetically, by type category, another method?

Sovereign Court

Any new hot footwear?

Thanks for the info. Sounds cool.

BTW, I now noticed you already answered a question regarded the ranger. My bad.

The most pressing question: are there magic trousers?

Cheapy: Are there new poisons?

So this question isn't about the content... it's about the release date.

I had noted on my google calendar that the pdf was coming out on the 15th, and upon checking today it's marked to come out on the 23rd. Did I make an error in creating my calendar entry (and clearly am going crazy) or was the pdf release pushed back?

The Exchange Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

PDF was pushed back because the shipment to retailers was delayed.

Grizzly the Archer wrote:

I don't know the poisons well enough to spot whether they are new or not.

Blehhhh... this actually has now ruined my week. I was looking forward to having UE and PoP today!

Well BAH that just sucks.

I will suffer the wait.

You can cancel your subscriptions when you don't want some items and then start them again for ones you do want. Of cours if they come out at the same time for the same subscription type then well can't help you there.

Dragon78: The other problem is that I don't like buying the hardcopy until after the first errata cycle. Sometimes not until the second (depends on how much errata is needed).

I'm not interested in hard covers, and even though I recently have been purchasing many of the books, I don't like being forcefully charged for a book that I may not want. I'd rather be stuck waiting a couple weeks, it's not like the world is going to end.

I got my subscriber copy today. The book looks really nice, and there is a ton of new stuff in it. I'd say some of the fearmongering that was going on over this book was a bit overrated.

Is. There. A. Yo-yo?

Azten wrote:

Would be cool if they made a yo-yo weapon.

Bludgeoning damage 1d3/ x2

Can have up to 2 yo-yos (in in each hand), to be used in conjunction with TWF to get attacks with both hands. (Ever see those yo-yo masters that do).

Someone wants to play Cadderly Bonaduce.

The Two-Weapon version of Manyshot... 0.0

Really hoping there is a yo-yo in UE now.

Tels wrote:

I never knew he used them! You learn something new everyday.

So mithril cauldron... does that mean spec material items? Like, i dunno, dark leaf rope? or perhaps an adamantine cup? I've got a improvised weapon master who'd like a nice dr bypassing cup, haha.

The Exchange Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

... adamantine cup? Like the man-bit protection sort? Sounds a bit chilly.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Special material items are usually really easy to find out as long as the item has an actual weight listed. A 1/2 pound cup is going to require 250 gp of Mithral and weigh 1/4 pound.

My Wizard in Kingmaker had a solo encounter with a Mithral Iron Cobra. After I killed it, I decided I wanted to turn it into a Staff and give it some Charming abilities and now I've got a Staff of Jafar. All I had to do is calculate how much Mithral I need from the Cobra I killed. A Mithral Iron Cobra has a 3,000 gp increase over a regular Iron Cobra, this means the Mithral cost 3,000 gp. That means there is 6 pounds of Mithral available to work with. A quarterstaff weighs 4 pounds, so I've got an extra 2 pounds of Mithral laying around in my workshop.

Mithral Quarterstaves aren't 'rules legal' because quarterstaves are made of wood and wood products can't be made of Mithral, but I could really care less.

Grizzly, I knew where to find the list, but I'm not keen on cross referencing the UE ones.

There's poison stuff in there though!

Here:

Quote:

Poisoner’s Jacket, lesser

price
12,000 gp
Aura faint conjuration and necromancy Cl 5th WeIght 3 lbs.
Three times per day, the wearer of this dark jacket can create a
vial containing one dose of any poison from the Core Rulebook
that costs 300 gp or less. The jacket’s poison always looks like
a murky amber fluid. This poison becomes inert after 1 hour.
Construction requirements Cost 6,000 GP
Craft Wondrous Item, minor creation, poison

ok, the jacket you showed says it's the lesser version, i'm assuming there is a more powerful greater version?

Yep! I think that one is the same as a lesser jacket, but a poison up to 4k once per day. It's quite a bit more expensive (58k). But only need to use it 15 times to make it pay for itself :)

Just noticed this from the PFS Additional Resources page, what does the "blade of the sword-saint" do? Is that another katana like the blade of the rising sun?

It was described earlier. It's expensive, but lets the monk count as unarmed.

Colour me curious but wasn't that what the Ki focus weapon property did?

Question about the item Vampiric Gloves. It does not state at what level the vampiric touch is cast at. So how do you calculate the SR and damage? Or are these intended for characters with the spells already?

Caster level 5th, the level of the magic item in question.

Does the book allow you to easily roll random items sorted by minor, medium, or major? In other words, I have a Kingmaker game going on and I would like to roll a random minor item or two that includes all items from the book. Can I do that pretty easily?

DukeRuckley: I don't have the book yet but others have stated they split up the groupings even further. Short answer: Yes, Long answer: Sorta.

I am expecting it is something along the lines of Minor table A, Minor table B, and Minor table C where each table is a higher value of that table's stuff.

This is to fix the problem that the minor table covers items from 25gp up through 7,500gp

- Gauss

Ah, okay. That's actually not a big problem because you could just as easily roll to determine which minor table to start rolling on.

Too bad I can't get my copy until after our first big kingdom building sessions. Maybe I can convince sometime to pre-roll me a bunch of items so I don't have to use the old Core and APG tables for this session!

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

The tables are split as "lesser minor", "greater minor", "lesser medium", "greater medium", "lesser major", and "greater major". Potions, scrolls, and wands are also divided into common and uncommon categories.

So, if you have a scroll, you roll a d100 on a table classified as lesser/greater minor/medium/major; that gives you a spell level. Then you roll once to see if it's common/uncommon arcane/divine (45% common arcane, 15% uncommon arcane, 30% common divine, 10% uncommon divine). Then you roll on the appropriate specific table to see what spell.

No, the ARG came out awhile ago. This one is Ultimate Equipment.

Did Grapplers get any fun toys?

And by that I mean stuff for characters focused in grappling rather than the disappointing Grappler Mask

Some armor enhancements.

Anaconda's Coils belt is going to be awesome for grapplers. Think about what anacondas do to their prey. Now imagine that on your grappler. 18.5k.

The Immolation Shirt is a potent tool for grapplers. (Also potent defense for people sick of being grappled.)

I gots a question.

I'm trying to write a 'what can I buy in town this week?' program, and so here's my problem

Cities say things like '3d4 minor/1d6 medium' (that's Sandpoint, for example), and that works fine for potions, scrolls, and wands (because you can use the CRB tables to get the level of the thing, and then the UE table common/uncommon to find out what kind of thing it is'. The problem is with UE's new 'least minor/lesser minor/greater minor' system for other kinds of gear.

Plainly put, of a town's 3d4 minor magic items for sale, how many are lesser minor? Was this spelled out in the UE somewhere, and I just missed it?
