Most MMO players are familiar with the way this works, where you need more and more Rating as you get closer and closer to the top end of some stat.
For example, Block Rating.
Right- there's no inherent reason why the marginal benefit of having a stat go from 20 to 25 needs to be the same as that of having a stat go from 15 to 20.

In the magic thread, people were talking about ways to differentiate between sorcery and wizardry (or any prepared vs. spontaneous casting), and I thought to tie them into a sort of 'study pool', though I suppose it could be renamed to 'training pool' to make it less caster-centric.
The training pool would regenerate like a mana pool, only much more slowly. Sorcerer spells would be cheaper to cast (less mana cost), giving them more castings, but wizard spells would be cheaper to swap out (less study/training cost). The same sort of mechanic could be used to swap out other features. Consider a feat like Weapon Focus: going from [longsword] to [greatsword] would be cheaper than going from [greatsword] to [longbow], and all of that would be cheaper than dropping Weapon Focus altogether and swapping in Deadly Aim.
