Chill Touch and Magus Spell Combat

Rules Questions

Just a question. Spell combat seems to be focused on single attack touch attacks. How does it interact with multiple attack touch attacks like Chill Touch?

Grand Lodge

Well thier has been some debat over the wording of this spell.
Most have come to the following conclusion.
If you have multiple touches with chill touch you get to use one touch per attack.
Two Schools of thought.
One.
For example:(level 3 magus)
Round one, spell combate to cast chill touch=
make spell strike attack with chill touch vs targets regular ac -2 to attach, then make regular attack at a -2 with the secound charge of the spell.(all this assuming you made your concentration check or cast out of threat)
Round two, spell combate to cast chill touch=
make regular attack first with your last charge of chill touch at -2 (because your casting this round), then (concentration check) cast chill touch and take the granted spell strike with the first charge of the new chill touch.
(you may now chose to refollow step two or)
Round three, standard action spell strike with secound to last charge of chill touch.
Round four, repeat round two.

Secound school of thought.
Round one, spell combate to cast chill touch=
make concentration check, use spell strike at -2 to deliver chill touch
then make normal weapon attack with no charge released.
Round two, spell strike with next charge.
Round three, repeat round two.

(smaller school of thought)
is that you get one touch and that is it

These are the three most popular ruleings
Ask James Jacobs favores the first one but says it is up to your gm to decide. He aslo said if your doing it for PFS just pick a different spell to avoid trouble with rules mongers.

When I started my current Magus I looked over the touch spell rules and saw where others were reading the lots of attacks in one round rule.

The problem is the general touch attack rules don't seem to support this and it leads to a silly number of dice rolls followed by saves at higher levels. Also combined with spellatrike becomes a bit silly.

Our group ended up using the second school of thought and it works fine seems balanced vs other lvl 1 spells.

Spell combat merely lets you cast chill touch while still making a full attack with a one handed weapon.

Now spell strike really looks to address how you make attacks with chill touch.

When you cast the spell you get 1 free touch attack during that round. Via spell strike this free touch attack can be a free (normal) melee attack instead.

Once you've cast the spell, then you can make armed touch attacks via your BAB. Via spell strike this can be your normal melee attacks instead.
