Liberty's Edge

I trying to figure out what book has Free Station. Free Station is located in the Mwangi Expanse, where the Vanji River and Little Vanji River meet. It's on my copy of the Golarion Inner Sea Map, but I can't find it mentioned in any book. Does anyone remember seeing it anywhere?

I think it's from the fiction in the Serpent's Skull AP. (Probably the first two issues.)

Liberty's Edge

Haven't checked that yet. Thanks!

No doesn't look like it, that AP doesn't go there. The only place I can find is in River into Darkness, which mentions it as a trading outpost not affiliated with the the Apis Consortium. I doesn't appear on the map though, so I figure it was mention elsewhere. Oh well, it's not that important, just trying to quench my curiosity and wondering if my PCs might want to stop there during that module.

I don't have River into Darkness (module #10), but I do have the full Serpent's Skull adventure path. However, I did a full text search of all my PDFs, and only found the following:

Serpent's Skull Adventure Path:
Volume 1 mentions it only in the fiction, pp72-74.
Volume 2 also mentions it in the fiction, on p72 and p75.
Volume 3 also mentions it in the fiction, on pp72-73.
Volume 6 mentions it once on p76.

The Inner Sea World Guide and map folio have it on the maps but don't otherwise describe it.

Lost Kingdoms mentions it on p27, but only in order to give a relative location for the Gutblood Labyrinth.

Since I have PDFs of everything except modules 1-20, I think that's pretty much all the references there are. I didn't search the novels, but having read them all, I can say there's no significant references if there are any.

It's also briefly mentioned on page 30 of Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Heart of the Jungle, as part of a longer discussion of the impact of the Aspis Consortium on trade in the Mwangi Expanse:

Quote:
Though most traders understand that for better or worse, Bloodcove is the best trade nexus in the Expanse, of late several new and independent settlements, such as Freestation farther east along the Vanji, have been springing up in hopes of facilitating trade (and perhaps to splinter off their own piece of the action). Though these other townships are generally run by the Aspis Consortium as well (either overtly, or via infiltrated agents), there’s no question that the elite of Bloodcove have mixed feelings about any hint of competition.

Thanks for all the info!

I went to Heart of Darkness first and found the above quote after reading about it in River into Darkness. When I saw it on the Inner Sea Map Folio I figured they had written more stuff on it.

I also think that's the first time it showed up on a map as it neither appears on the River Into Darkness map or Heart of Darkness map. I figured a third book showed it on a map and that's why it made it onto the IS Map Folio since I thought that the IS Map Foilo complied everything map wise from the entire camping setting up to that point.

I think that's interesting, and wonder if there are other places in the IS Map Folio that were only mentioned in text but made it's way onto the map for the first time in the IS Map Folio. I have a feeling some of the Nirmathis locations come from text.

As I said this was mostly for curiosity's sake. I will probably just have Esteban pass up Free Station, spiting it's name as copycats riding on the Consortium's coat tales. It probably isn't very big anyway, smaller than the older Whitebridge Station(which would be considered a hamlet as it's pretty small itself). Free Station is probably a building with a couple docks. Barely a settlement.

I never thought to look in the fiction of Sepent's Skull. I'll look at it, for no better reason then to get me into the mood and feel of the Mwangi Expanse.

Oh gbonehead this is perfect! Read only the fiction in volume 1 but most of it is set in Free Station. Great description of it too. More of a town than I thought. Might have the PCs stop there after all. Thanks again!
