Sovereign Court

My office has a café that offers some decent low priced meals. Today was their version of a KFC chicken bowl and a biscuit. It was, I imagine, a thousand times better than anything one can get at KFC.

Sweet and sour chicken after a few days of pizzas of various sorts.

1) Chicken marinaded in garlic, ginger and curry powder and then stir-fried with sesame seeds, onion and mushrooms.

2) Grilled cheese sandwich with peekules.

3) Falafel wrap.

4) Vegetarian ham substitute sandwich, carrot and apple.

Sleep schedule still screwed up, so "breakfast" was 6PM last night (tomato soup and grilled cheese).

"Lunch" just now (12:30AM) was big bowl of (instant-ish) spicy pork tonkotsu & ramen noodles (which was pretty darn tasty, Edit: this brand I found at Publix) and a short glass of unsweetened cherry juice.

Went out to eat and got a buffalo-sauce fried chicken burger with generous blue cheese. Got buffalo-sauce tater tots drizzled with blue cheese as a side. I was craving today...

Pork chops and kopytka, fried on a pan.

Half a ham & swiss cheese sandwich
Handful of store brand Jamaican jerk-flavored potato chips

$3 buttermilk & black pepper-battered chicken sandwich
Travel mug of iced water

Finally back on solid food! Over the holidays, my entire diet consisted of chicken broth. Getting old sucks!

2 egg Denver scramble "add egg(s)" omelet kit (new, on sale + coupon)
cup of hot tea & honey

The omelet kit was ok, but it's completely unseasoned, so you also need to add your own salt & pepper. If you're used to cooking your eggs in some kind of fat (like butter), you'll probably miss that added flavor in this. The ingredients are arranged in separate little sealed pouches, so you can leave out an ingredient if you don't like it.

It's right before payday, so three party sized frozen eggrolls and a lean cuisine filled pasta of some sort.

So, Freezer Fusion.

Very late lunch, too-early-to-be dinner:

2 egg American scramble (uncured bacon crumbles, potato mini-cubes, and sharp Cheddar) "add egg(s)" omelet kit
piece of oat wheat toast
cup of hot tea
extra-strength acetaminophen

Mediterranean-style tuna salad
Last leftover cheddar bay biscuit (from the box mix)

Ruskie pierogi and pączki.

Oh, yeah, it's Fat Thursday here today.

Pumpkin pie!

Compliments of my dessert making bender yesterday.

Chicken in Chinese five-flavors sauce served on Polish kopytka. Fried on EU olive oil.

Some left-over four day old pasta with butter.

Dinner is second serving of meat and sauce this time with bean flour noodles bean thread noodles.

Stir-fried smoked tofu with noodles, mange tout, peas, garlic, spring onions and imitation Thai green curry paste.

Pizzas. Pieces taken from one with... Chicken I think, onions, pickled cucumber, and BBQ sauce, one spicy with some sort of Southern European dried sausage, peppers, and some other things, and one with pepperoni and mushrooms.

This weekend, my mom and dad made their usual trek out Troyer Brothers (Farms) and bought 2 50-lb. (2 26.7-kg) bags of potatoes. Both the other two kids have moved out and I only eat some meals with them, so this is two retirees with 100 lbs. of potatoes. So, as also per tradition, they give out bags/boxes of potatoes to relatives, friends, & neighbors, sorta like a potato-gifting Easter bunny or a farmer drowning in a zucchini harvest.

Which has it's benefits... the Latin American retiree couple across the street from my parents dropped by today and gifted them with 6 fresh, hand-made tamales. I had two for lunch and they were absolutely delicious.

Miso ramen soup
Banana

Yesterday, Actual Lady Longears (Diamond Edition) and I made Jollof rice

Nigerian or Ghan..aian?

I put diced meat, diced potatoes, diced onions, and diced mushrooms into a pot of water, added some powdered garlic, and veggie seasoning, and stewed together for some time.

And ate more of it than I should...

The Ghanaian version, I assume, since ALL (DE) learnt how to make it from her mum.

Microwave beef & bean burrito.

30 minutes later, still hungry, so had a cup of (instant) chicken ramen soup

Like a whole pot over the evening... With each reheating it was getting better and better.

Sandwich:
¼ lb. thin-sliced "madrasala curry"-seasoned roast chicken (on sale)
aged Swiss cheese & non-aged red leaf lettuce
sun-dried tomato pesto & olive oil mayo
honey wheat toast

with Maui onion-flavored potato chips (also on sale)
and iced sweetened tea

Probably the most delicious meal I'll have all month

So before weekend I bought four packs of pork chops (hey, there was a promo at –45%, a real bargain turning them into a noteworthy purchase).

Meat. Check.
Potatoes. Check.
Veggies. Che... Oh, crap, the beetroot salad and pickled cucumbers were at their end, serving me only on the first day... Ah, well. I survived to Monday without veggies.

For tomorrow I will be making a stew composed of half a kilo of diced meat, half a kilo of carrots, some potatoes, and a half a kilo of mushrooms. Possibly with addition of higher grade marinated mushrooms that are awaiting their turn to be eaten.

Before weekend I considered starting a perpetual stew, starting with a lot of diced meat, carrots, and peppers, but on day two I added dried peas which completely dominated the stew (and got burned because the stew became much thicker than I thought, what I can say, I am careless cook).

6 inch Italian Sub and a Garden Salad with Chicken, and Water.

I need to start chopping those mushrooms and carrots...

I'm working outside again, so a banana, two cheese sticks, a package of fruit snacks (goes sooo good with the cheese sticks), a peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwich and part of the gallon of water I brought.

And that's what I'll eat every day pretty much until November.

My fat pants are getting tight.

Time for string beans with white rice and an apple.

5.3 oz container of fruit-on-the-bottom strawberry Greek yogurt.

A salad made of lettuce, tomatoes, goat cheese, and some regular cheese...

Meh. It would be much better if I used feta or mozzarella instead of that goat cheese - I didn't like it's taste.

Meh because Mom had to go to the grocery store first before I could get a sandwich...which I'll have tomorrow.

Very late lunch (dunch? linner?):

Small cup of coffee
Everything bagel, toasted, with Mediterranean blend cream cheese
Small cup of fancy chicken ramen soup with fresh chopped soap cilantro and basil

Last few days were my typical fare of pork chops fried on olive oil, with potatoes, and cheap salads (coleslaw and "spring" salad).

Next few days will be probably something rather unhealthy as I will be on convention from Thursday to Sunday (the convention starts on Friday technically, but I will be helping set up a stall on Thursday).

Tomato soup with Ramen noodles, onion, garlic, and Sriracha sauce (for flavor).

Cold fish a la Greek and a few buns.

Spoiler:
Fish fried in a batter, with some stewed vegetables slightly resembling sweet and sour sauce in taste - carrot, onions, tomato paste, spices, and other less discernible veggies.

The Exchange

Taco Johns Taco Tuesday! Ole!

Deviled ham sandwich with mayo on white bread
Mozzarella cheese stick

Fried pork chops, potato salad, shredded beetroot salad, coleslaw. I bought a lot of relatively cheap pork so expect this to be standard fare for the next few days. Although tomorrow I might end eating out in the middle of the day.
