I like the rules, mostly. It feel familiar but it has modernized features. I can get my friends to play it.

Other systems invariably annoy 1 or more players in our group, so PF is our main point of agreement.

And I do like it.

For me, it is just the community and the fact it is still fairly easy to find a game. I don't really care for Golarion so much, at least as written, and there are just as many rules fixes as things I really dislike in PF (vs 3E). I actually like a more complex game, so I would be playing 3.5 if that were more an option. I wasn't interested in 4E after playing, and not really caring about 5E so much right now.

I think that a ot of the main draws for Pathfider from the begining are lost along the way. Pathfinder is much less and less compatible with 3E, the staff tend to either not answer certain hot quesstions, and are making calls that are not popular or desirable.

The up sides is that they do still have some communication with the fans, are still producing products, hav an open forum, are publishing novels, are pretty open with fan content and 3rd party materials, and the game is fairly easy to learn quickly. More difficult than a lot of games, but a lot easier than 3E and some others, PDF's are cheap, even compaired to other gameline's PDF's.

The down sides, (for me) flavor, there are still plenty of bugs in the system, some very, very old, the organization of material is not to great, a lot of rules are not explained well (reasoning behind them), and there are a lot of inconsistancies.

Being that I ignor Golarion flavor as much as possible and that no system is perfect, a net gain for Pathfinder.

After reading these bits, I kind of expect your subscription tags to say Pathfinder RPG....not Adventure Path.

My friends play Pathfinder. I run what my friends want to play.

I started it while deployed and specifically for the Carion Crown AP. I'm holding it for now even though I don't care at all for Jade Regeant or Pirates, but am interested in the rumors I hear for the next one, (and enjoy the discount). I tend to try to buy hardcovers from local gaming stores, and PDFs here and Drivethru equally. :)

I also meant more along the lines of I can ignor as much Golarion flavor as possibly (or desirable, sort of case by case) as I want, and I don't blame Pathfinder for not being perfect, as no system is, but it is generally better than some others.
