Hey - creating a thread for people coming to our fair city. You locals post some stuff!

I thought of this as I shopped at the farmer's market this morning. As I picked out some fresh cherries and strawberries it occurred to me that I was going to miss the farmer's market next Saturday because Paizocon was... But WAIT! PaizoCon is AT the Redmond Town Center, literally right next to the Farmer's Market. Which got me thinking - Hey - I can just step out the door and pick up some fruit to nosh on all weekend.

So if you're hankering for fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, and crats, stop in next Saturday between 9-2. Just look for all the people carrying yummy food. They've got some food vendors there as well, so you can pick up some lunch. We had some of the wood fired pizza today. Yummy.

Any other suggestions? Malt and Vine seems like a no brainer, sure lots of folks will be over there. Three Lions for the brit-beer/futbol crowd.

I'm really looking forward to visiting the farmer's market! I don't normally get to.

Having never been to Washington, I just don't know what to expect!

Nice tip thank you

For the Redmond Saturday Market:
Since most of you won't have a way to cook any of the offerings there, fruit is your best choice. I've been going nearly every weekend since I moved here and it's certainly become part of my Saturday routine. The ready to eat/hot food sold there is great, especially the brick oven pizzas, the crepe booth, and the tamales (anyone who brings me a [veg]tamale for my game on Saturday gets a free bonus-something).
There are also plenty of preserved foods/sauces/jams/etc available from some of the booths. While I'm not normally a fan of canned tuna, there's a booth there that sells just that (their boat is based out of the area) and it's easily the best canned tuna (or fish, for that matter) I've ever had.
Also, while I'm not a buyer of non-food stuff at farmer's markets, there are quite a few other vendors on site that sell art and crafts from regional artisans.

Here's a link to the market's website. You can also subscribe to get the weekly email sent out on Friday that says specifically what's going on each weekend.

Okay. I'm a coffee drinker. I could just use the hotel coffee, but being out there can someone give me some tips on coffee and what local shops are around.

Absolutely! Coincidentally, there's a great coffee vendor at the market. He has fresh French press there every Saturday. Roasts his own beans and sells them if you want to take some back with you.

For the other days and local coffee shops, you can't beat Victor's. http://www.victorscelticcoffee.com/ It's about a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

Here's the map to the Redmond Town Center where the hotel is.

I was thinking of going over on Tuesday, grabbing all the restaurant take-out menus, and scanning them in. I could throw them up in a public dropbox folder if folks were interested?

Sounds like a lot of work, but it would be much much appreciated! :)

Victor's is cash-only, so please keep that in mind. That being said, it's the Greater Seattle Area. You'd have to try really hard to *not* find a place to get your caffeine fix.

Chiming in after taking a look at the map: I do recommend a Pinkabella cupcake to pair with coffee. The salted caramel is pretty much the most delicious I've had.

Absolutely! Margo the owner, is an old friend. I knew her before she was the "Cupcake Queen of Seattle". Seriously - she has like 5 shops now. If you stop in and she's there, tell her Pete sent you. ;-)

PS: Peanut Butter/Chocolate FTW

Btw - speaking of treats, I forgot to mention the PIE LADY at the Saturday market. YUM. "Never Trust A Skinny Cook". :-)

lol!

I was giving a tour to a candidate for a job and she, being from Detroit area, asked me why so many cars are lined up at all those little sheds? :)
