Information of D&D movie license details
With deals like that, TSR never stood a chance of keeping up as a company. I could understand lone writer selling his rights for a movie based on a book but doing so with a whole franchise?

Ever heard of Lorraine "This whole dungeon RPG crap part of my company can die in flames if you ask me, but my Bucks Rogers legacy shall live forever!" Williams?

Liberty's Edge

IIRC, TSR sold the rights in the mid 90s. When DnD was loosing big time to the ccg craze. Also, the reason the first movie was do bad was it was that directors first feature. He was the one that bought the rights, he also wrote it. It was based on an old game he played in.

The second movie, while cheesy, actually felt like D&D. It felt like D&D as DMed by a psychotic 12 year-old ("You're traveling through the forest when suddenly a lich attacks!") but still D&D.

The dreaded forest lich! It was the scene where we finished watching and started playing session we were gathering for but the forest lich remained a running gag for a few months.

I didn't know that she was into Buck Rogers. I vaguely recall that TSR did some things for Buck Rogers but it seemed to me that never caught on beyond two or three rulebooks/accessories - and now I see that TSR actually published a number of books for it...

Scarab Sages

Of course it's going to be bad. Still might be fun. Definitely an "evil party" vibe going on.

The dragon at the end of the trailer is definitely just the white dragon from the last movie with red tint.

It was not so much that she was "into" Buck Rogers as much as it was some sort of family legacy for her.

Lorraine owned (or co-owned) the rights to Buck Rogers. As result, TSR had to pump out (and try to squeeze thru the market) Buck Rogers stuff right up 'till the bitter end. Sinking money into an arguably dead franchise (seen anything BR related lately?) was one of many factors that led to death of TSR.

I hope I'm in this.

Sure! Here's your role! Hands the Elder Elemental Eye the Beholder's script from the first D&D movie.

The production values on that are so low I thought I was watching a Bang Bros effort.

Just for that, I'm going to destroy existence.

Only once you return onscreen after pursuing a thrown rock... Good luck with that.

Why would you do that?!

Still, I'll probably watch it. 'tis a man's duty.

We could crowdfund a better film. Pathfinder Movie kickstarter, anyone?
