Looks like your guide was added to the Guide to the Guides.

Also of note is that Wisdom of the Flesh is the ONLY way to get fly as a class skill.

Thanks for the Fly catch.

Trapper Ranger? Empyreal Seeker Sorc into Zen Archer? - You will need to explain this part lol. What?

Fasrial wrote:

Just a note - at the bottom, under the traits that provide Stealth as a class skill, Wisdom of the Flesh is listed as a regional feat and nto a religion feat (both in the table, and in the "best of" section).

Edit: I notice Secret Knowledge is also listed as regional instead of religion in the Knowledge section.

Thanks. I will fix that.

blackbloodtroll wrote:

This means it is twice as good.

lol. My Bad. My copy/paste kung fu caught me up on the charts.

I took a break on the guide. I will be back at it today.

It's a multiclass build (Monk with Zen Archer archetype/Sorcerer with the Empyreal and Seeker archetypes 1/Arcane Archer 10) that bases EVERYTHING off of Wisdom and can only needs 13 dex and 10 strength beyond "high dex". It's irrelevant to the guide.

Finished the Skill section!

Now I just have some re-organizing to do, but the guide is pretty much finished.

Woot!

^^ That should be "high wisdom", not high dex.

Great job on this. Is this the final version or are there still more changes to come? I ask because I want to print it out but not if there are more changes.

Thanks and No its not completely done yet. I mostly have organization stuff to finish however. I have gone back to work so I will be taking my time finishing it up so feel free to print a copy.

I seem to be having trouble opening the link... It goes to the link and I get some of the art but no real content. Then I get an error about scripts running. Most of the other guides I have looked at from the Guide to Guides have open and run fine, so I am unsure what is up with this one.

Any suggestions or comments?

Thazar: Some computers have problems with Google Documents. My computer has issues with it them as well. I have to use a different computer, convert it to a word doc and then send it to my regular computer.

(I really need to clean up my computer)

You may want to check Scholar of the Great Beyond. The color or your review need to change. Again great work.

Can't seem to open the linked document in the first post without receiving an error that prevents the page from loading properly. All the text turns into string tables, and is unreadable.

Suggestions?

I did a quick search and didn't see anyone else mention it, but Armor Expert really seems like a waste of a trait. At most it gives a slight benefit at lower level after that, you either have Mithral, magic armor, you have so many ranks that a +1 really doesn't matter, or you just don't care about DEX skills.

Bullied essentially gives a monk Weapon Focus for the cost of a Trait

Sovereign Court

Dragonamedrake,

First, thanks for all the work you have put into this guide.

Second, Defender of the Society only works with medium and heavy armor.

Third, I am looking forward to your analysis of the Pathfinder Society campaign traits. Some of my fighters have taken Expert Duelist (Taldor) which gives a +1 trait bonus to AC when adjacent to a single foe. However, I realize now that an Urban Barbarian would make better use of it. Her Crowd Control gives a +1 dodge bonus to AC when adjacent to two or more foes!

Thanks,

Kodger

Armor Expert makes Mithril Breastplate 0 ACP. It would otherwise be -1. That's +2 AC relative the the best armor that can otherwise reach 0 ACP. If ACP matters and medium armor proficiency is available then Armor Expert is better than Dodge once you can afford mithril.

If 0 ACP is not critical it still effectively gives an untyped +1 bonus to four fairly common skills (climb, swim, ride, and acrobatics) which is about par for traits.

Agile Breastplate will do the same thing and then you can take a trait that will help you your whole career.

I don't know, in my experience, with Mithril and Comfort, Armor Expert is a very red trait.

Unless I'm ALSO reading "charming" wrong, you're wrong about it.

"+1 bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy on a character that is sexually attracted to you, and a +1 bonus to the save DC of any language-dependent spell you cast on such characters or creatures"

The wording "sexually attracted" is pretty much certainly used to mean that whenever you use any of those skills, you are male and the person you talk to is female and straight or gay and male that person is "sexually attracted" to you.

Same goes if you are female and the other person is male and straight or female and lesbian.

A character should never have to figure out if someone is attracted to that character for "charming" to work. It simply works by default if the genders are right.

But because sexual attraction rarely comes up, why not just assume that everyone is straight? Some would say that is sexist, but I don't see the problem with doing it in a game (unless some players are sensitive, so ask around the table first if it is ok to assume that every NPC is straight)

Little update:

Thanks for all the advice. I will finish up any loose ends soon enough. I have been hitting the books hard (in a military school of sorts) and will finish it up after its over. I still post on the forums but don't have time right now to sit down to finish up the last little bit. I will though. Thanks again.

Grand Lodge

Thanks for this, I use this guide a lot and its very handy.

With the opening up of Tieflings in PFS you might want to make an honorable mention to Prehensile Tail and Accelerated Drinker for the win. At least I know I have gotten great use out of it;)

Nice guide.

You have "Pustular" listed as a (Race?) trait. The race in question should be Goblin.

Tips and Traits.

Maybe we can make more bigger the traits list adding a nerfed version from iron heroes!!

im already transcript the list if u want it!!

i love the flavor for the traits, also the flavor that profession frome tome of secrets give to the characters.

i always start my campaigns with zero level subsystem home made, and gave them 1 profession, 1 backgrownd trait and 2 traits free
added the redhead [Physical] and jaded [Mental] feats from ravenloft as a traits.

all of those with the purpose of start being maybe a commoner farmer who has the needs for resolve some issues and then become a class...

i really love to share all of this with you

Silver Crusade

Judas, I think the point of the guide was to go through all the published Paizo material and review the traits. Adding homemade stuff doesn't really fit the theme.

i know, but theres no home made in this stufss, all of those came from Iron Heroes Campaign...

:3 Sorry!!

tusked race trait from orcs of golarion wasn't in the list, and a very good trait for any 2 handed melee character.

even if it is a bit silly (being adopted by orcs gets you a bite attack)

Is that a third party source? Sorry, I'm just not sure what you're talking about. My point was just that this guide is Paizo-only material.

yes iron heroes is another fantasy d20 system, using the warmachine miniatures game background.

That would be Iron Kingdoms.

Iron Heroes is a low magic variant Player's Handbook, similar to Arcana Unearthed.

yes, im talking about traits from iron heroes, to expand the traits presented in apg. the issue is maybe those traits need to be nerfed.

i know this thread is only for pf traits, but, maybe we can share this one to make a huge list of it from another sources.

I think devastating blows should have a bit higher of a rating. My barbarian has it, and is always making a sunder, spell sunder, or str. based check. The trait increases my odds by 10%, and even if it's overkill, there's not much else for another choice.

oops yep, you are correct. knew i should have looked it up before posting. thank you :)

Reading through this now, great resource!

First time through, I'm only reading the blues and purples... and way down towards the bottom I found the first one I kind of don't agree with.

Cleansing Light (Sarenrae) reroll natural 1's on the die when channeling positive to damage undead. Listed as purple if you're focused on this sort of thing. But according to my maths, this results in an average increase of 0.5 damage per die (so 3 points at 6d6, etc.) Maybe folks who've specialized in channeling vs undead can argue otherwise, but to me this seems way too weak to be purple.

I haven't had a chance to make the finishing touches on the guide but I will take another look at it. Its very possible it looks better then it really is.

I will be getting back to finishing up the last few touches before too long. I hate to leave it unfinished.

Liberty's Edge

I love your guide. Most useful to find traits that give you a specific class skill.

I hope you will add a similar focus (and analysis) for traits that boost a specific kind of save (ie, Will, Fort, Ref) maybe with some subcategories (ie Charm/Compulsion and Fear are subcategories of Will).

Because the way it is done now, I would have to read the entire guide to find this info and I really want to do it quick and efficient, just like the skills ;-)

Great guide. I hope more people see it and use it. I would hate for it to get lost in all the other posts. Things disappear quickly with all the posts being made.

Have no fear, friend. The sticky thread Guide to the Class Guides in this Advice section is the answer to your prayers. Despite its name, it references all worthy guides including this one ;-)

Thanks for this guide! It helps tremendously to have this breakdown. Very helpful!

Is this being worked on any longer? Some recent products have traits that don't seem to be covered.

I laughted a lot by so many notes, ended reading jus for the lols.
TY, very helpfull :)

ZanThrax wrote:

Yeah, this thing needs to be updated. "Seeker" from the Ultimate Campaign book is another blanket Perception adding skill that doesn't require you to be of a certain faction or from a certain region. Seeker, however, isn't mentioned in the guide.

I still don't see any traits from Andoran: Spirit of Liberty. Oregant Desperation has got to be one of my favorite traits of all time.

The traits from PFSGtoP aren't listed. Only 2 actually relate to PFS exclusive stuff. Most are the same stuff covered or obiviously bad, but there are some gems

Fortified is one/day 20% fortification (could be better)
Hunter's Eye is Short or Longbow Profiency (worth taking just for that) and no penalties for the second range increment.
Weapon Style is proficiency with any monk weapon, most of which are exotic.
Fashionable is Highly Fashionable, but with sense motive instead of intimidate (A worthy trade for someone who isn't intimidating, like most good PCs)

Great guide. Hope there will be more work done on it.

You list Keeper of the Veil (Qadira) as Blue. and you state it is great because it is a competence bonus. For 400 gp, you can get a pair of Cracked Pink and Green Sphere Ioun Stones that give +1 competence each on Bluff and Disguise. As this is so easy to buy, I think that a blue rating is too good. At best it is Green, as it gets the skill in class.

Wanted to post a update that someone has messed up this guide.

While the guide is a bit dated, it still has some very good info and I'm hoping someone can fix the guide.

Thanks

Yep, it still looks like someone's been messing around in the guide. Any chance of someone straightening it back out?

I fixed it. It seems someone decided to troll my guide. I do plan to update it with all the new traits and suggestions. I have just been out of town the past 6 months or so. Now that I'm back I should be getting it updated before long. Thanks again for all the suggestions and comments. I will post a new thread when I get it updated.

Thanks! Your guide has been invaluable!
