Let's not forget. There will be some theme park content in PFO at the start, and they plan to add more as they go, though it will remain largely a sandbox style game.

Quote from the first blog, A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step. https://goblinworks.com/blog/

"Focusing on the sandbox doesn't just save time and money, though—we think it's an ideal way to explore the Pathfinder world. In a sense, Paizo's own Pathfinder lines actually combine sandbox elements (by way of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting line) with theme park elements (via the Pathfinder Adventure Path and Pathfinder Module lines). Though the sandbox will be our initial focus, the Pathfinder brand is known for great stories and adventures, and over time, we'll add lots of opportunities for theme-park style adventure into the fabric of the world to give depth and richness to the Pathfinder Online experience."

Only time will tell whether it will be enough for those that like theme park content, like Shifty.

Yeah, see, personally... I'm okay with there being theme park content, as long as it COMPLIMENTS the main core of the game (which is the sandbox stuff) and doesn't overshadow or replace it.

.

I agree, it's always important to have polite theme park content!

:)

But as for the topic at hand, I never played SWG, but I did hear how great the crafting system was for it. I’ve always loved a game where the economy is important and the crafting system is top notch. Both EQ1 and EQ2 were ok, but they definitely had their flaws.

From what I’ve read of PFO, it sounds like it’s what I would like in regards to crafting. I plan to focus on crafting myself, and I am really looking forward to seeing how it works out. Just wish it wasn’t so far away still.

Yeah, one of my best friend's favorite D&D characters of all time was a master craftsman. It really can be a lot of fun to play and can be really vital to a party (or, as the case may be sometimes with PFO, to a kingdom).

Thanks to everyone who has shared their SWG stories, I almost miss not being there pre NGE to have been part of that community. Hopefully PFO can create a similar close knit and passionate community dedicated to making the game a living story for all to share. I have never played a sandbox game, so I look forward to this. :)

SWG Pre-CU/NGE was pretty darn amazing.

One thing I wouldn't want to see from SWG is the slow combat. It just wouldn't be fun in this day and age.

I dunno, while combat could be slow, I also *liked* that it could be slow. Taking down a Krayt dragon? Yeah, best bring a bunch of people and wail on him for awhile. I don't care if he was a tank n spank boss, he sometimes would break aggro and kill a random player (often me....).

Slowly whittling down a monster is sometimes satisfying. Some things should take awhile to kill. It would be unsatisfying to kill a dragon in under a minute.

lol i used to solo ancient krayts. was tricky but doable pre cu by a TKM. I also miss the dark jedi master mining outpost trains on Dant. and the ensuing 4 hour fight to kill him.

I have actualy just started checking out eve online.. and i find it rather lack luster for a sandbox. combat is by far too slow, the skill system leaves much to be desired, have not had a chance to see the crafting system yet. Much preferred SWG and UO's approach to leveling.
