Caster becomes unconscious - do his spells stop?

Rules Questions

If a magic-user has cast a spell with a timed duration and then falls unconscious, does the spell effect continue until the duration is expired (or the magic-user expires due to death)?

It should continue (unless concentration is required).

I'm going to agree with Treppa in that it continues even if the spellcaster dies, unless it requires concentration.

I'm thinking of it as soon as they cast the spell, they no longer have control of it's effects (with exceptions like Flame Sphere.) However, the spells you can end you just "wish" or whatever them gone (talking about (d) spells). If they aren't told to end prematurely, they will just keep on going.

Killing the caster who Charmed the barbarian probably does not help the situation. Indeed, you just killed Gunkdar's best friend, that might make him angry.

Spells are, for the most part, fire and forget weapons. Once launched they do their thing unless acted upon. The major exeption is any spell that requires concentration. Almost all end when the caster is rendered unconcious or dead.

Scarab Sages

And they don't forget any prepared spells when they fall unconcious either.
