What did I get myself into!?

Liberty's Edge

So in my campaign, the addition of Scribbleface as a friendly NPC ended up with the PC's saving some of the Licktoad goblins (those who agreed that Scribbleface's writing heresy was not as bad as Chief Gutwad's horrible mismanagement of the tribe). Now it looks like they're going to have to take the tribe away from Sandpoint, to keep their commitments to Mayor Deverin. So essentially, once they finish the swamp, they will be bringing along a wagon of Goblins. They already calmed Shaelelu, which was really well roleplayed, but obviously other NPC's will have problems with this situation. The players convinced Shaelelu that peace with those Goblins who would accept it was the only way to a long term solution.

So what did my party get themselves into when they get back to Sandpoint? Will the town accept their solution of taking the remainder of the tribe far away? Will the tribe settle down in the Churlwood (or elsewhere) or keep with the Caravan. How does the Caravan react?

Liberty's Edge

I think there's some serious awesome potential here, I want some advice on how others would handle the awesomeness...

Well if your bringing a good amount of goblins, you could give them npc classes levels, mostly expert, and have them fill most of the odd jobs on the caravan. What's more entertaining than a multitasking cook/entertainer goblin?(i know they cant do that but it's awesome anyways) With that the caravan's reaction is pretty moot.

Just don't let them scout.....or do let them scout....depends how often you want that giant dragon flying overhead to go unnoticed.

Shadow Lodge

Let the gobins take over Castle Brinewall?

Its BeBes Kids+Gremlins+Are We There Yet? Awesome!

Just remember to pack enough food. Goblins can eat. And eat. And eat some more. And still eat more.
As long as you provide food, they should be happy enough to follow orders; as long as they remember them, anyway.

But you're going to run into one problem. Horses. The caravan is pulled by horses. Goblins hate horses, while they are alive. Can you feed them enough that they accept horses, given their mental condition?
That I do not know.

Liberty's Edge

I'm thinking that if the Goblins stay with the Caravan, I could run a "We Be Goblins!"-like little side-track adventure in between each module of the adventure.

Have a "fire season" happen in all the towns that you pass throught, once you leave?

Little side adventures sound good. perhaps if not everyone can play someone can run 2 or so goblins. They would be great for wrecking havoc on enemy camps and distract others.

"Oh it is just a goblin. No way those rats will be any problem."

in our campaign we have an entirely non-human party and kids are playing so i allowed negotiations with chief gutwad after agreeing to supply the goblins with fire works and vengeance vs tsutumo, the goblins joined their caravan.
so began "King" gutwad and is fire breathing goblin acrobats (rita bigbad, poog, chuffy, mugmurch and ted). it has been a riot so far, in the shows gutwad sits in his throne glaring while the rest do acrobatics and fire breathing.
i ruled that as long as they're part of the caravan then it has the scavenger caravan feat, also they have same consumption as medium creatures (i ruled that small creatures only consume half as medium, same as encumbrance i believe).

That I do not know.

You could potentially substitute other pack animals as a solution to this. Perhaps the carts are pulled by oxen, or camels?
