Masou gakuen HxH is to Infinite Stratos what Shinmai Maou no Testament is to High School DxD - more sex and t$@* and less interesting characters and story (so far). I doubt I'll bother to keep watching.
Freehold will start watching.
Binan koukou chikyuu bouei-bu love! Love! is like the first season only more so. More shiny, more colors, more nearly naked boys, more frills, more love. Unless the quality drops sharply after this episode I'm gonna enjoy this immensely.
If you really enjoy this, then why did you think you would like the above?

I have been so annoyed by shows that were clearly just "fan service" with the gratuitous boob and butt shots. There were some shows I was curious about, then just turned entirely into that. Honestly, if I wanted to watch a show for THAT reason, there are plenty of websites dedicated to that sort of thing out there.

The Testament of Sister New Devil shouldn't have been a surprise - it's by the same manga writer as Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, which was another anime with gratuitous fanservice shots. Also featuring a 'daughter of overlord' magical boom powered girl with twin tailed hair.
You are only adding more series for me to watch.

I'm not sure what you're talking about: what is it you think I thought I would like?
And why would liking Binan preclude liking whatever it is you're talking about?Alzrius |

When I finished watching Aethetica of a Rogue Hero - which I did purely because of the two-minute crossover omake it had with Queen's Blade Rebellion - I found myself wanting to know whom to call to demand back the five hours of my life that I'd wasted.
By contrast, Testament of Sister New Devil was...okay. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "very good" or anything, but it was certainly a not-unenjoyable piece of ero-filled fluff.

Let's be real, it's just shy of physically impossible to be as good at chasing tail as Kintaro Oe.

Let's be fair... If after 1~2 hours you still didn't know it was a waste of time, it's your own fault for watching the next 3~4! XD

Also, all the girls in that show have very strong personalities... They aren't just "loli with pink hair" or "big boobs with blue hair".

They're just lacking in the brains department (apart from Rachnera).

It is a comedy, after all... Someone gotta have a low Wis score! XD
Well, Papi IS pretty dumb. But then, bird stuff, including being bird brained, is kinda her thing.
I just hope that if the anime ever continues towards a conclusion, they don't pull a Dagashi Kashi on it and push the director's crack ship so hard that the manga wrap up seems like it's out of left field.

Oh, I knew. But I do my damnedest to always finish what I start, if for no other reason so that I can assert that I know what I'm talking about when I tear it a new one later.

..
What...?
No, seriously... What? I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, I just have no idea what this sentence means:
(...) they don't pull a Dagashi Kashi on it and push the director's crack ship so hard that the manga wrap up seems like it's out of left field.
Grey Lensman |
It sounds like at the end of Dagashi Kashi, after pushing one romantic couple for the entire series, they reversed course into the official couple from the manga ending without it making any sense.
It was even worse when I talked to someone who had actually read the manga. Saya (aka: crack ship) appeared in less than 1/2 of the chapters, and important Hotaru scenes were left out entirely.
Grey Lensman |
Ah... I see. Who does Kokonotsu end up with?
He leaves with Hotaru on a dagashi tour after pretty much zero development that way other than they both like dagashi and that he is impressed with her breasts. And absolutely zero development from her direction.
If you want to know how NOT to handle a romantic plot, I recommend it.

ok Thunderbolt Fantasy over on Crunchyroll
I don't really know how to describe it but I like it. There is an artistry involved in this project that makes it a real treat to watch.
Plus Urobuchi as director
with puppets
Urobuchi + Puppets
not going to be for everyone but give it a try
(incidentally Crunchy has decided the 1st episodes of their new shows will be available at 1080 quality with no ads for everyone for those who want to check them out)

Man... Re:Zero can get really freaking dark sometimes... I enjoy the series, but the latest episode was... emotionally exhausting. X(
Very much so. When I first started watching the series (mistakenly thinking that it only had one cour), I binged on the first thirteen episodes. In hindsight that was a mistake, because the series puts so much punch into its plot and characterization that it works better if you take it a few episodes at a time to let what happens digest.

Handa-kun is ok.
It's a sort of prequel to Barakamon (which I really like), focused on Handa Sei's high school period. The set-up is quite similar to last season's Sakamoto desu ga? except that Handa is the exact opposite of Sakamoto in many ways. Stiff, useless at anything non-academic and entirely unable to handle social situations, yet for some reason his cold exterior and comments made without understanding people solves the situation and makes his opponents better people.
I would have much preferred more Barakamon but it's amusing enough on its own terms.

Besides the 2016 season, my musings on some other series/movies I've recently watched-
Another- is a horror anime (based on a book/light novel, I believe). It was pretty good. I liked the concept better than the execution but it's 12 episodes and you get a full story. Available on Crunchyroll.
Belladona of Sadness- watched this last weekend. It's a very trippy, adult, anime from back in the 70s based on a french novel. The animation, while limited, is beautiful to look at. A very strange film, that again, is very, very adult. I watched the recent blu-ray version released by Cinelicious (bought from Amazon).
Lupin the 3rd- The Lady Called Fujiko Mine/Part 4- I had heard of the Lupin franchise before but didn't know much about it until I read a recent article on Anime News Network that broke down the various shows and movies. I started with Fujiko as it is kind of a prequel but also more on the adult side. Loved the visual look of the show and overall enjoyed it. I thought the metaplot was a little weird and was probably my least favorite thing. Fujiko is available on Funimation. After that, I saw that Part 4 had received favorable reviews- taking the best bits from the various series with the updated aesthetics from Fujiko though not nearly as dark or adult. Having little experience with the Lupin franchise, I still really liked Part 4 a lot- the look, the music, and overall the stories were very good. Again, the metaplot was kind of the weak point for me. Available on Crunchyroll (along with a lot of other Lupin shows).
Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta- Yay! Thanks to the new release from Rightstuf, finally finished watching it. Probably one of my favorite gundam shows. I thought it ended rather abruptly- no epilogue or anything, but I guess that's what ZZ is for. Available from Rightstuf.
Non Non Biyori/Repeat- Ahhh...never in a million years would I have thought to watch this one my own on- a bunch of school girls living in the country and nothing happens. However, I came across it on Amazon and the reviews were very good. I'd also never heard the term "healing show"- there's no conflict so the show is instead meant to relax you. This one, with its beautiful countryside visuals and excellent character interactions certainly is relaxing. The interactions between Renge and "Candy Store" where the best parts in my book. Available on Crunchyroll.
Venus Wars- I'd never seen this 80s classic about life on Venus and a war between two rival countries. I thought the story was a little choppy- trying to cram a lot into 2 hours but overall, as a fan of this type of animation, I really enjoyed it. Available now on blu-ray (bought a copy at Amazon).
My queue is getting kind of long. Still watching-
Turn A Gundam (DVD on Rightstuf)
Kids on the Slope (Crunchyroll)
That I physically own and need to watch-
Dallos (DVD on Amazon)
Eureka 7 (recently bought on sale at Funimation)
Plus all the simulcasts and rewatches of other shows I like. Oh, and getting more Patlabor.

YOU OWN DALLOS? THE FIRST OVA EVER MADE?!
Picked it up on Amazon. Somehow, somewhere, I found out it was the first OVA and directed by Mamoru Oshii (original Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor for those, who like me, aren't super familiar with all the anime directors yet). Based on those two facts, I figured I needed to see it.
I'm looking forward to watching it. Tried once, but a little too much drink made it hard to read the subtitles :).

New release of zeta from rightstuf? How much do they want?
They split the series in 2 parts so it was about 40 for the DVD and 50 for the blu-ray when I preordered for each part. Blu-ray may have gone down a little.
I picked up Gargantia, though I had already seen it, but the price dropped from the 50 dollar range to $35 (and it includes both OVAs).
Rightstuf is releasing Char's Counterattack the beginning of September. I preordered that off Amazon- blu-ray for $23.
