GM Brayden's "Rise of the Runelords" Recruitment

Recruitment

Potentially looking for another player.

We are at the very first of the first module. We are going through games and prizes at the festival, and first introductory meetings, etc.

PLayer dropped off the face of the earth. He has until tonight (and even then, his excuse better be good after 3 days of no-show, and no reason)

THE RULES FOR SELECTION

#1 - Read the campaign thread called "gameplay" (2 pages of posts - starts at page 1 halfway down). If you like what you see, and want to be a participant, proceed to rule #2.

Why would you want to participare in a campaign that you don't like?

#2 - Read the campaign rules. If you like what you see proceed to rule #3.

Rule #3 - We post a MINIMUM of two times a day. Most of the times each poster is getting in more like 5 posts. If you can't keep up with that pace, this might not be the campaign for you. If you think you can hang with that, and that sounds fun being part of A VERY ACTIVE GROUP then move on to rule #4

Rule #4 - I don't care about your character concept at this point. I want someone that is going to show up, and get posts in, and react with the world. This Campaign is RP HEAVY, and though there will be combat, there is more RP. What is it about your schedule that makes it so you can easily interact with others? Are you self employed, do you post on your phone, during lunch breaks, during school breaks, etc?

I don't care how COOL your character is, if he isn't ever showing up to interact with others and the world.

IF all of this sounds like your cup of 64 oz Mountain Dew, then by all means tell me roughly what you like about the campaign (fishing for compliments, so sue me... ;) ) and what you think you could add to it. Basically, why you want to be a part of it, and why we should add you as a member of what we are doing.

Happy RPing!!!

GM Brayden

2 posts a day including weekends?

Sometimes on saturdays or sundays we realize it won't move along as much, as people are with their families, but we still want the two minimum, yes.

Sometimes people have birthdays or weddings or whatever, and it is fine to put yourself on "autopilot" if you need to. But for the most part, we are wanting players as active as we can get.

Thanks for the reply. Will go ahead and skip out as I know I can never make posts on Saturdays, and Sundays are a bit spotty for me.

Best of luck and have a great game.

Awesome. Good luck finding what you are looking for. If you like what you see feel free to dot the thread and follow along. It is a pretty fun campaign so far. :)

Really interested since been looking for a RotR campaing and seems like this one has just only begun.

. For interest. I can easily make the post quota but am already in a runelords game.
..maybe a wizard...

It has just begun. They are in a festival doing games. They are basically at "the intro stage" getting to know the town and people.

Someone could easily jump in.

How did you do in the other stuff? Can you make post quota, and that sort of thing?

What type of game? A PbP or normal sessions?

I'm not in a runelord's game, but I have been following yours. I can make the two post quota, and I stalk my campaign tab like a drug addict, so I'll be able to stay on top of things.

I'll mainly be able to post during my lunch hour and when I'm at home, most of my posting will be at home though. I will not post while I'm working unless I do not have anything else to-do. (Lunch is typically 12:00-1:00 PM Central time, I get off at 5:30 pm so I'll be able to post from 6:00 to when ever I go to bed (11:00pm or there abouts.)) Weekends are a little less consistent, but I'll give a heads up for any thing that comes ahead of time. July 4th is likely going to be a no-go for me, just a head's up if that's a deal-breaker.

As far as RP goes. I play several character's and manage to make them different, even if the differences are more subtle between some characters. I do find it easier to play certain personality type, but those tend to be more less assertive and more easy-going.

As for what I can bring, I tend to get a little too immersed into the world. If a character's clothes have been ripped, torn or shredded in a fight, they are going to try and get them fixed or replaced. I also do have a bit of a family thing going with several of my characters. (the ones with the last name Whitescale.) I don't know if I can make as interesting a character as Bugsby, but it looks like I'll certainly enjoy RPing with the character. the other thing is I'm used to playing martial types, so making combat decisions shouldn't take that long. (unless I'm mistaken you're missing a front-liner, right?)

Other than that all I have is really, really wanting to play.

I'm really interested in having you join up. I like the family thing you have, and the background for them. I notice that you are in a lot of games, but all of those games are probably not super-active or alive still. If you say you can make it, I believe you.

I think to be like the "Bugsby" character you have to be a drug addict IRL, lol. (He's a buddy of mine.)

As far as people in the group we have:

Xue (played by me) - she is a ninja and will be played as "sneak-attacky" as possible.

Bugsby - gnome wizard

Iodem - dextrous fighter(archer)

We will also be adding another buddy of mine, and he will be playing a melee fighter (his sisters wedding is this weekend so he hasn't jumped in the game yet). Play whatever you want, but the front liner we have coming into the game is coming back into rp after a hiatus from h.s.

So, he may or may not live very long, lol.

Could not put my words in any better way than AdamWarnock just now. Desire to play and to keep going fuels me.

Saw also that you guys are missing front-line character. Idea of barbarian or fighter came to my mind (human / dwarf) and giving them different feelings as a characters.

Post quote... as many as needed! Sadly at this moment unemployed... huoh, wish to have work or able to find but then... the love for RP and PBP is filled and able to post as much as needed

Great! We might be replacing this character by 9pm MST. So, if that does happen, (and at this point, I have every intention of it happening,) then we'll take a vote on it.

Looking for two players in that case. I'm gonna let my players take a vote. And see who they want at that point. I'm sure a few more will come along the way, but you two are interested first.

Why don't you both come up with some basic character concepts so they have something to go off of?

Thanks for the interest. This is a very fun campaign so far, even with a few lulls because of unexplained character "drop."

Also, someone mentioned holidays? I don't think we will be posting much on actual holidays (July 4th, Dec. 24th or 25th, etc. Also, my anniversary and wife's birthday).

I have a wife and soon to be two kids, and I wouldn't mind keeping them.

So as long as we plan it, and give forewarning, stuff like that is fine. I literally don't expect you to be posting during valentine's day dinner while the special someone is watching. I can't blame you if you do, though! I might be, LoL.

Yeah. but three of them are on life support as far as activity goes and one of the others is the main for a two party game I'm in. I'm glad you like the family thing, but to be honest a guy I gamed with had all of his PFS characters related, so that was the inspiration behind it, though the fluff is my own.

I noticed that you are lacking in the clerical department, so I think I'll go with a cleric of Torag. I'll try and have something up in the next hour or two.

EDIT: Alright, I think I'll be able to give advanced warning in most cases. Only exceptions are going be cases where playing is very, very far down the list of priorities.

I'd like to post interest as an oracle of battle, who can serve as bothmain-line fighter and off healer. I have the character ready to go, she just hasn't been put into a alias yet.

As a player,I post regularly throughout the day, as my work is fairly flexible about mini-breaks throughout the day, plus I usually check the boards at least once after hours. I am currently in 2 other games, one of which is moving pretty slow, and DMing another that moves in fits and spurts.

Here, I shall present Kerdin The Superstitious Barbarian

Since his childhood Kerdin has a huge hatred against the giants. Pillaging and threatening the dwarf kingdoms, there was always need for a patrol to dispatch these creatures out. Kerdin was one of those young hot-head dwarfs who had especially tendency to literally burst to rage. He was always the first one to clash head-on and didn´t care so much of his own safety.

Worried of this young hot-headed dwarf, the elders decided to send him to Sandpoint. It was such a good timing that there would be celebrated a new church so Kerdin could act as a messenger and good-will ambassador from the dwarven kingdoms. Hopefully he would also be able to control his rage and rashness better... to grow to be a better dwarf.

Okay just checking, it's a 20 point buy, 2 traits, and average gold right?

I'm trying to round out my character a little more. Will be up in a little bit.

Sounds good. yes to all the questions.

I think a cleric would hit the spot.

I give you Magnhildr Whitescale.

background:
Magnhildr, or Maggie to those who know her, is one of several clerics that keep the other Whitescales from falling apart. Life on the edge of Grungir Forest is not safe, and even the most careful rangers of the clan wind up getting hurt by some of the meaner denizens of the wood. Magnhildr proved herself adept at the art of healing while she was still young. Her touch even seemed to stop death in it's tracks. She was asked to join several excursions into the forest to help heal those guiding travelers and pilgrims to the villages on the eastern edge of the forest or to Moonwing's Bough. The armor was heavy, the treks long, and she had suffered more than a few scrapes and bruises, but she soon adapted. When she was at the keep she studied the art of armor-smithing. There was something about the ring of a hammer on the anvil that called to her soul. The clerics of Torag that stayed at the keep taught her the tenets of the faith, and soon, the young woman began studying them in earnest.

After a few years as an apprentice to one of the other clerics, she was granted full status as a cleric of Torag. As part of her right of passage, she swore the oath that all the Whitescales of age took. She was told to go out and find where she was most needed. She was sailing south to visit a couple of cousins that had joined the Pathfinder Society when she heard about the cathedral being finished in Sandpoint. She decided to go visit the sleepy little village to see it.

Personality:
Her god may be serious, but Magnhildr enjoys a good joke or festival. She is calm and keeps her head, even under pressure. She prefers to keep plans simple to limit contingencies, but she isn't afraid to think on her feet. She considers her skill in healing an extension of her persona as a protector. Reasoning that healing the wounded is the same as protecting their life. She doesn't accept handouts, instead, preferring to work hard to pay off the debt.

Appearance:
Magnhildr is 5' 10" with a lean, toned build. She wears simple clothing that fits under her armor easily while still giving her mobility. Her red-gold hair is worn in three braids, the largest going down her back to the small of it, and the other two coming down before her ears. Her eyes are gray and intense, but there is a sparkle of laughter that never seems to go away.

Feats: Endurance, Touhness
Traits: Sacred Touch, Armor Expert
Domains: Protection, Artifice.

Adam and Kerdin/Galrian.

We decided we wanted both of you to join. Just one problem, I can't figure out how to do that, lol. (My first time running a PbP on the paizo forum, we always did it through email posts. )

Any pointers there?

OPENING UP ANOTHER SLOT AS OF 5/11/2012.

PLAYER GOT A PROMOTION AT WORK, AND HAS OPTED OUT OF PLAYING DO TO RECENT WORKLOAD.

Same rules apply as original post.

Grand Lodge

I missed out on this one the first time around, but I am still interested. I can post regularly throughout the day, and at least once a day on he weekends. I am a dedicated player and have never dropped a game that wasn't declared dead by the GM. I also run a game on these boards as DM Bigrin, and my players seem to enjoy it well enough.

I'd like to submit a dual-cursed oracle of battle. Layanna has been set apart all her life by both the blessings and curses of Iomedae. She has remarkable skill at arms, can function as a battlefield medic, and handles social situations well. She strives to follow the precepts of Iomedae, but is not as self-righteous about it as most clerics or paladins.

background:

Justine Arodel was born to serve Iomedae in battle. It was known from the very beginning. How else could an infant with cloudy white eyes and supernatural haunts have managed to survive in such a small community as Winter's Hollow? Born the daughter of the owners of the only inn in town, Justine's birth was heralded by a visitation of a shimmering figure - a woman in shining breastplate and carrying a radiant sword. The form spoke only 3 words: "Guard my trust".

Throughout Justine's life, she has been the victim of whispers - both the unnatural voices that follow her everywhere, and those of her peers who cannot abide the fact that someone as obviously cursed as her would enjoy a goddess' favor. Not that she saw it as a favor, not really. She worked hard, trained hard, adn drove herself to be the epitome of what she saw a champion of Iomedae to be. Strong in body and in mental acuity, she gave herself over to the studies of the arts martial.

When her older sister was taken by drunken mercenaries, it was twelve year old Justine that forced them to release her...with a frying pan. When the halfling thief raided the homes of Winter's Hollow, it was Justine that caught him and forced him to return the goods to their owners, and serve time in the community as recompense. And when the robber chief Corazon threatened her father with a glowing red poker, Justine grabbed up her practice sword and ran the villain through.

At the age of 17, Justine felt Iomedae calling her out to go into the wider world an serve her will. Saying goodbye to her parents, she strapped everything she owned to an old pack and headed out. Her skills with weapons and the gifts given her by Iomedae served her well in her initial encounters. Now,it seemed as if there was something more the goddess had planned for her life...

Edit: I just saw that your player that is leaving is a man of skills. If you'd prefer a replacement rogue, I'd suggest you look at Brennan Darkblade I could easily redo the traits for this campaign. Just let me know.

Welcome Layanna, I am going to leave it up to my players.

How is your game going? Is it a homebrew or PF module?

Grand Lodge

It is actually the Second Darkness adventure path. We are only a short ways into the first part, but my players have been doing some pretty good RP. The first part is fairly RP-heavy, but I have been trying to keep things moving along. I think it's going pretty well.

Were you interested in Layanna or Brennan? I am happy to play either one.

Everything is up to my players. I'm just the captain of this ship, they do the steering.

Who they pick and why is completely up to them, but you know how that is :)

Grand Lodge

Aye, that I do.

Layanna, they like Brennan the Rogue. And all have voted. Go ahead and dot the campaign thread, so we can add your char. Then we'll discuss in the (discussion) thread how to bring you into the story. I have some ideas.

Do you still have an opening. I would love to play. I am currently unemployed and searching for work from my computer, so I have no problem posting often. At some future time when I do get a job, I still have no problem posting several times a day from my phone.
