Question about Cleric

Beginner Box

Hello,

Can the cleric cast any of the 4 Orison spells listed as many times per day, or can they only pick a certain number of the 4 spells they they can then unlimited cast that day? The Handbook doesn't seem to mention any limit on the number of spells but the pregen cleric only has Detect Magic as a spell that can be cast any number of times per day hence my confusion.

Thanks

If you have 4 orisons slots it means that you choose 4 spells each day, and can cast all of these an infinite number of times that day. You can change the 4 spells each day.

Thanks, but where do I see or calculate how any Orison slots I have?

I understood it as the cleric being able to cast any of the four orisons at any time.

Orisons are a weak type of cleric spell that you can use over and over again as much as you want to, up to once per round. You don't have to prepare orisons - you always have them available.

I am speculating here, but I believe the pre-gen cleric just has Detect Magic as her orison down for space-saving and ease-of-use reasons.

OK thanks, It looks like in the core rules a 1st level cleric starts with 3 Orisons? (3 level 0 spells) correct?

Thanks

Commander_Groo, it's not totally clear in the Beginner Box how many orisons a cleric gets. However, I can tell you that you're supposed to know all of them, you don't have to pick a certain number.

(And yes, in the Core Rulebook you get 3 at 1st level and 4 at 2nd level and higher, but to make things simple in the Beginner Box you just get all four and can cast them over and over. Likewise, wizards in the Beginner Box get all four of the cantrips and can cast them over and over.)

Thanks for clearing things up everyone.
