Harrowstone or bust!

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 72 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Looking for one or two players to join our Carrion Crown campaign in progress, it is still very early in the first adventure so you will basically getting in on the ground floor.

Posting rate
~Daily during the week with at least one weekend post if possible. If you do not post within 24 hours you can be botted. The game has been slow paced but we are looking to change that. We are interested in following this AP to the end so please consider the time commitment when applying.

Stats and creation
~20pt statistic buy
~No stat below 8 after racial mods.
~Non-standard starting ages are subject to approval by GM which will be unlikely.
~2 traits one of which must be from the players guide.

Source Content
~Paizo Pathfinder content only. Content from outside the Core rules or the APG is by approval which again will be unlikely.
~Core races only.
~Rare firearms at best. Gunslingers subject to GM approval and rather unlikely.

Level
~First Level with standard starting wealth.

General guidelines.
No PVP.

Current party:
~Warrior of Holy Light (Paladin). Blatantly evil characters may be problematic. That said this characters best friend is an (NPC) neutral evil half-orc barbarian.

~Archivist (Bard). Knowledge focused whip using archeologist and academic.

~Summoner. Her eloidian poses as her manservant. People are starting to talk but there has been no spike in torch and pitchfork sales as yet.

Character type:
This is a horror game so the players represent the normality against which the strangeness will contrast. This means that characters that can walk down a village lane and not cause folks to run for their weapons will have a pronounced selection advantage.

MANDATORY back-story:
To be considered you MUST have a connection to the Lorrimer family and a strong desire to uncover what is happening in the village. Again this is a horror game and heroes in horror games poke into things they should not. You must also have a reason why you missed the Professors funeral but something as simple as bad roads will suffice. Please feel free to post rough drafts as the players and GM will be lurking this thread and are quite interested in helping out.
As recompense for your trouble this back-story will earn you a 5ooxp bonus.

Please answer the following questions:
As a player,
1: What will you add to the party?
2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
4: Is there anything you want to ask us?

As your character,
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
B: Why did you miss the funeral?
C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
E: What are you afraid of?

I'm very interested in applying - I'm thinking a Dervish magus right now.

Can you tell me what campaign traits have already been taken by your other players?

Thanks!

This character is was created for and currently "in" a Carrion Crown game that has gone absolutely nowhere so far. Let me know what you think, I can change abilities to make his Cha 8, although he's supposed to be an incredibly grumpy dwarf who likes nobody except for plants. He has a full Carrion Crown backstory and a campaign trait, I can tailor anything else as you need. The campaign had a house ruling whereby Weapon Finesse was automatic for light weapons, so I'll likely change around abilities and equipments to make up for that loss.

EDIT:

1: What will Charles add to the party?
Comic relief, everyone needs an ornery dwarf from time to time. Druids are always useful, and although he doesn't have the animal companion he's got great battlefield control potential with the Night domain giving him an extra spell per day. He carries a great deal of helpful survival equipment used during his time in Virlych, survival and knowledge nature rarely go amiss. He's also a decent melee combatant with armor and weaponry, and eventually wildshape.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
Mechanically he'll progress as a straight Blight Druid, going for battlefield control when possible, but also as a combatant when necessary. The night domain augments the Druid list nicely, especially when it gets access to Shadow Conjuration. Role-playing wise I hope to see Charles make a friend or two, as Lorrimor was his last in the world. He'll also need to resolve some inner conflict around the nature of his power, which is a bit dark and twisty.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
Yes, I won't be able to post from this thursday night through sunday morning, but besides that it should be smooth sailing, and I tend to be on the internet lots anyhow. I've been anxious for the last CC to start up, but it really never did.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
May I please play? :D
What are the circumstances under which this new character is being introduced, just wandering into town late?

A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
This should be pretty well covered in his profile. "I was an old friend o' Lorry's, we used to study at a university together, travelled together once upon a time... Saved 'is skin once too, from a rock slide up in the mountains. Stroke o' luck, that, wish I could have been there for 'im at the funeral, I've been outta touch with the rest o' the world..."

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
"Not that it's any o' yer business, but I was out in the dead lands researchin'. Don't tend to come back to town much, it'd been a month since I'd checked the mail... got the letter too late, my own fault...

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
"Heh, they call that a church...? I don't know... I came here lookin' for the last man I knew well, found 'im already gone. Just been standin' around for a little while now... Not sure what I'll be doin' next, likely headin' back to Virlych, the land o' fun and sweet-smellin' flowers."

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
"Honestly, I don't that much, but it was home to Lorrimor, and 'e was a good man. If I couldn't honor 'is mem'ry by bein' at the funeral, least I can do is make sure those that cared for 'im are alright."

E: What are you afraid of?
"Bwahaaa... been a long time since I thought o' that. The creatures in the dark haven't spooked me fer years, the black, twisting plants, the pools of tar that'll suck ye down faster than ye can scream... that's been my life for the last while... I'll tell ye what makes my palms sweat though, all these people in one place. It's been too long since I've tried to speak to a person... that's what scares me, all these people, their expectations, their unpredictability, their distrust. Ye always know a vampire will be tryin' to kill ye, and a poisonous plant'll do the same, but these people... Ye just can't tell."

Two of the current characters are all Teacher's Pets My Paladin in Kn. Religion and the Bard in Kn. Arcane. The Summoner reskinned a noble trait with GM supervision. So something other than pet would probably be best.

Note: The reskinning was done under the previous, and short lived, GM. Do not count on reskinning or other alterations for your character. Not saying it can't happen but the bar is quite a bit higher. If you need it be positive it is fully justified in your backstory.

Looks good. Just rejigger to get that stat up and answer the application questions and consider your hat in the ring.

Hi Creel,
I wanted to throw my name in the hat, as Maya, a half-elf Rogue who might have some "issues" with the local populace. :)

------

As a player,
1: What will you add to the party?
As a player, I want to really add to the party both mechanically and thematically. I am an easy going player, with motivation to really see the AP through. I am especially curious in the sense that I have never participated in a horror-themed campaign before, so I'm excited about the prospect of trying it out.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
My original idea is to go TWF melee rogue. Hopefully with the Paladin we would be able to make a good Flanking combo for the first levels. Role play wise, I want Maya to maybe develop more on her ex-connection to the Sczarni, and get her to care more about the region. She is good in nature, but she always is on the lookout for power and treasure in the end. I think some good conflicts for her will be choosing between the greater and the personal good.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
Absolutely. I already read the Paizo boards pretty daily as it is, and don't see a problem either with posting frequency or commitment.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
I guess my biggest question would be how has the AP been so far for the party. I have obviously never played it, and am curious how the party is liking it so far.

As your character,
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
I worked for the professor in the past, doing... "special contracts" shall we say. I was recently asked to attend the funeral. Apparently, he mentioned me in some will.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
I am a former Sczarni, and frankly, getting to the estate unnoticed took some time. It is not in my best interest to let my presence be known.

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
Like I said before, I am very keen on keeping myself laying as low as possible right now. Passing as a helpless maiden and asking to spend the night at the church as a refugee was not really that hard.

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
As sad as it sounds, this area is my home. But at the end of the day, you never know the riches you may yet find at "middle of nowhere" places.

E: What are you afraid of?
What is there NOT to be afraid of in Ustlav, right? Kidding aside, my biggest fear would be facing death defenseless. I'm not exactly afraid of death, but death without a reason, or without a fight, that is true despair.

Backstory Draft:

Maya earned the name of "The Edge" some years ago while working for the Sczarni in Ustlav. She joined the organization at a young age, rising in the ranks and going on the jobs no-one would take. That is at least until some months ago.

The Sczarni wanted Maya to steal an eccentric item from a certain house. However, the client was not a patient fellow, and had hired multiple guilds to steal the artifact at the same time. When she arrived at the scen, three thieves had already entered the house and were all attempting to retrieve their mark viciously. Maya was able to sneak past the commotion, and found the artifact before the rest of the infiltrators. Sadly, the escape was not as easy.

The last two surviving thieves, noticing Maya's entry into the vaults, had teamed up together to kill her in order to stop "that woman" from leaving with the relic. Maya knew that there was no way around a fight, but she came prepared. With her short sword and dagger, she was able to cut through these thieves with relative ease. They didn't call her "the edge" for no reason...

Blood splattered the floors outside the vaults. A door came open and she saw a man. She poised to strike, but he raised his hand asking her to stop the attack. The man introduced himself as Professor Lorrimor, and he confessed to being the client that contracted the different guilds to come steal his relic. He wanted to find a rogue good enough to do private jobs for him, and this day it had been Maya. The professor paid handsomely for Maya's services, but her "private contracts" were upsetting the Sczarni operatives.

A few weeks ago the Sczarni declared Maya an outcast for spending more time doing private jobs than helping the organization, and put a hit out for her for treason. Her contacts informed her in time, and she was able to flee and hide in the more rural areas of Ustlav.

She recently got a message from her old patron. Or at least, his estate. She was to present herself to his house for the reading of his will, where her name was mentioned...

Err, so if there's a racial penalty to a stat it needs to start at 10, but if it doesn't have a penalty it can start at 8? Or just no scores below 10 before adjustment?

Player Questions
1: What will you add to the party?
I will add frequent posting, a laid-back attitude and (hopefully) an interesting character and interactions.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
For now, I intend on staying strictly Dervish Magus. I've never played as one, and I'm intrigued by the class.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
I do!

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
What is the vibe of the group right now? Are players eager to move forward? Do you know why the group derailed originally?

Character Questions
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
I actually know the professor's daughter, Kendra - a bit. I grew up in Harrowstone, but my parents moved us away when I was 14. Kendra and I were schoolmates and often played and did homework together.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
I was in a spot of trouble with the local magistrate of a small village in Anactoria. He made a pass at me one evening and I made a pass of my blade across his cheek. I spent three days in the jail before…I left.

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
Having missed the funeral proper, I've decided to go ahead and return to Harrowstone to see any old acquaintances that remain there and pay my last respects to the Professor.

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
This isn't just a hamlet in the middle of nowhere - it was my home for my formative years.

E: What are you afraid of?
I recognize the cliche', but I'm terrified of spiders ever since my stupid cousin put one down my dress when I was a little girl. I've gotten used to the garden-variety small ones, but the idea of a giant spider is quite terrifying.

Let me know if you'd like more backstory based on my responses.

Thanks!

Looks good Maya.

To answer your question it is early enough in the campaign that the central themes are just starting to develop. Our characters are finding it very odd and more and more threatening. As players I can say we are having a blast though having to juggle the various threads is beginning to be a challange. I must remember to recheck my notes.....

What traits/feats will Maya be taking at first level? Any nonstandard gear?

Charles Hawthorne wrote:

To Charles

Sorry if I was unclear. On the final character, after all adjustments, there can be no stat below 8. So yes with a racial -2 that means a 10 before racial adjustment. Make sense?

Creel wrote:

Maya is thinking about doing Dirty Fighter, as it fits her ideals and "flanker" profile, as well as Making Good on Promises. This last one fits her backstory very well, as she has done many jobs for Lorrimor. Maybe one of these missions went awry and she needs to make good on the job now.

Without metagaming too much, I might pick up a silver dagger or two. Nothing crazy like eastern weaps or armor from UC methinks.

Gotcha... It does make sense, but seems to penalize characters with a racial penalty to a score they don't want, since if they didn't have the penalty they could put fewer points in the score, and use them for something else.

I might as well also ask, since it was in the original plan for the character, can he be middle-aged? Adventurers are always so young and chipper/angsty, it's fun to be old and crotchety and not give a damn.

If not, it'll be okay, probably a stronger mechanical choice anyhow.

Question 2: Please describe a Dervish Magus. It is new to me. Is it simply a Magus focusing on scimitar and the Dervish Dance feat from Qadira, Gateway to the East? Or is there more to it? You might want to reread the Source content paragraph again. Not saying no, but it might be an issue.

Question 4: The game never really derailed. We have just had bad luck with GM and player turnover. This is why I stressed the whole commitment to the AP theme. Things happen and that is fine and expected but we seemed under a curse for a while there.

Question B: I am assuming you mean the village of Ravengro rather that the ruined prision Harrowstone. Will double check w/GM about knowing Kendra before game start. Probably fine.

Portia wrote:

Please. More is never bad. If you do decide to do more then remember to lay the groundwork for the nonCore/APG feat if it is vital to your character.

Unless it is truly vital to the concept I would recommend against it. You can be middle aged no problem but if you want the stat modifiers thaen I will have to go to the GM and clear it. A paragraph or two talking about why this is vital and how it would shake out mechanically and in role play would be really helpful to me when I bring this to the GM's attention.

I would like to put young Hugo of Harrowstone in for consideration (brief character description in profile, will be bulking up later):

1: What will you add to the party?
I will serve mechanically and thematically as a balance between the disparate motivations and desires of the other party members, as well as a backbone of support to keep us going through the long dark. Adventurers are very powerful personalities, but someone like Hugo is a reminder that not all adventurers journey out of a lust for glory, riches or power, but out of a necessity to help the people who live beset on all sides by terrors that on the other side of the world would only play out in children's nightmares.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
Mechanically, my character is leaving Damage at the door. By focusing Hugo's ever growing wisdom onto strategic advantage via buffs and debuffs, I want the party's enemies to feel like they are staring down the barrel of a gun in every encounter...a gun with a Pharasma-powered-Paladin in it.

In terms of role play I see Hugo starting as an uncertain young man balancing his fear and inexperience against his will to see the world bettered by his good work. As the (I assume inevitable) horrors of the campaign unfold and he becomes more knowledgeable of the threats the party face, I expect him to become a grimmer and more resolute character motivated more by the destruction of the unholy blight than the people who suffer under them. After all, there are only so many zombified peasants you can weep over before you start wondering where the Necromancer is hiding so you can kick his door in.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
Absolutely. No qualms at all with the posting guidelines you have posed.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
Which deities have the party members selected and what skill sets have they already started to groove out so I can avoid skill redundancy.

AS HUGO

A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?

My family had little or no dealings with the Lorrimer family while my parents were alive, but we were always aware of their presence and station within the area. It does not serve to pry behind closed doors in Ustalav, and most families keep to themselves. It was only when I started manifesting signs of Pharasma's gift two years ago that I came into contact with them, and even then not face to face, but via a messenger.
They knew of my new found talents and had apparently observed me aiding the few townsfolk willing to let me help. I know not how, for I did not make it widely known. Within a week I received word I was to receive their "patronage" and be given travel and funds to study at the clergy stronghold on the region's border. It was only when I arrived that I realised how...well, hurried the whole thing had been. Hurried and desperate. Still, upon my return to Harrowstone I shall express my gratitude at this new life, but my mind aches over what drove them to notice me in the first place.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
I was waylaid by many more. On my travels back the caravan I journeyed with encountered a roadside village I had passed on the first leg of my journey two years ago. The stench of Urgathoa filled the place like a dense fog *spits*. A sudden illness had whipped through the town and taken half of the population with it. I did what little I could with my new training, anxious though I was to use it, and with Pharasma's blessing slowed a few journey's to the Boneyard. I missed the burial of one man to oversee twenty others. Such is the lady's way. Ironically as the new cleric at that very church, I may very well have led the ceremony had I been there...no matter.

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
This old church will be my new place of work and worship now that I have returned a fully anointed member of the faith. There are scant others in the town with the gift or the wish to work both birth and grave, but we must all serve and stand together. That has never been more true at the edge of the famous Worldwound than it has been in Ustalav.

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
It is my birthplace, my home and now, my parish for as long as Pharasma sees fit to let me keep my bones from her. In my new role I can truly help, heed and give hope to the town.

E: What are you afraid of?
In truth, there is little that walks the night in this place that doesn't give a sane man cause for fear. But more than all its the insidious work of Urgathoa, the Plagueweaver, that gives me cause for fear. Silver for werewolves, stakes for vampires, holy power for the walking dead. Each have their cure. But the faceless and countless plagues, diseases and ills that stalk up from tomb, marsh and black magic? There is scant medecine but hope, hope that a man may wake with as much flesh in the morning that he went to sleep with.

I hope that was ok and worth your consideration! Do let me know if you need anything more from me.

Happy choosing! Hugo

The Dancing Dervish feat can also be found in The Inner Sea World Guide, but I see that too might be nixed. My apologies. If it's a deal-breaker for my character, I completely understand.

Yes - I think I was typing a little too quickly. I can adjust that relationship if necessary. Perhaps I moved away before her family arrived and heard of the great professor from friends or acquaintances who still lived there.

Creel wrote:

Can do!

Creel wrote:

Ah, that would be the Ravengro adjustment to my character backstory too. Incidentally, Ravengro sounds like a potion a wizard would make to bulk up his familiar.

Hugo

Good work. Like the reason for missing the funeral

I have no idea if disease will play a part in the AP but if you are chosen I expect the GM will work it in.

I am asking everyone this. I should have put it in the app. Are you taking any non-Core or APG feats traits or gear?

TO ALL:

Very good work. You are all raising the bar for characters. I see I will need to get better in my next application.

I expect to only keep this open for another day or so. So fence sitters shake a leg.

Going silent for a couple of hours. Keep raising the bar!

I have added a stat block to Maya's character page, so you can see her feats traits and gear so far she is planning to take at level 1. Not final of course, and willing to revise at DM's discretion.

Dotting for interest - will try to get something up later today after work.

I'd like to submit Dantrian Almaeus for consideration!
(The only non-core/non-APG stuff in Dantrian is his archetype, which is from Ultimate Combat)

As a player,
1: What will you add to the party?
I try to be frequent poster in all my pbps and I like to inject dynamic personalities into my PCs. I greatly enjoy playing off others' posts and reacting to the story, rather than simply posting "I swing my <weapon> at <target> for <diceroll>".
2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
The party already has a strong frontliner in the paladin (and also possibly in the eidolon if that's what it's built for) and someone very knowledgable in the bard. Dantrian, as a mutagen-focused alchemist, can provide flanking for the frontliners and support for the casters/skill-focused members. As the campaign progresses, I think Dantrian will become more and more frightened by what is happening to him and his companions sticking with him throughout it could be a deeply meaningful development for him. I also think there is an exceptional potential for really fun roleplay when he finally takes his first level in Master Chymist and his alter ego emerges. The juxtaposition and contrast between the normal looking, selfish snob and the monstrous looking, selfless hero just excites me.
3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
Absolutely! I've been looking forward to getting through an entire AP for a long time but haven't had the opportunity yet.
4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
Dantrian's backstory and some foundational mechanical bits are in his profile - do you want a FULLY complete profile with equipment and skills and every little detail or is its current form sufficient?

As your character,
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
"Professor Lorrimer is responsible for helping to avert a dire tragedy I'd suffered earlier in my more adventuresome youth. His help and guidance have been invaluable to me over the years and I might even go so far as to call the old coot a friend. The details of our acquaintance are a tad personal though, so you understand my reticence to engage in full disclosure here." Full backstory is listed in Dantrian's profile
B: Why did you miss the funeral?
"I was unaware his funeral was even underway! If only I'd resolved to leave my studies and seek the professor out sooner, I might have arrived in time. Regardless, even so, my arriving for the funeral would have still been happenstance. Having fallen so out of touch with the man that I was unaware of his passing is a guilt I will bear for a long time to come."
C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
"Sadness drives men to do strange things and visit strange places they might not otherwise visit. The same can be said for desperation. As it so happens, I find myself both sad AND desperate now. Can I really be faulted for considering faith in such dark times? I should surely hope not."
D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
"A year ago my answer would have been, 'Nothing.' Today my answer would likely be the same, however I find myself slightly more sympathetic to their plight. It is unlikely that I would even still be here if it were not for the good Professor's kindness and generosity. In ignorance I let the man die. I now find myself in the curious position of feeling like I owe him more than I could ever repay. No longer having the opportunity to repay him his kindness directly, perhaps I can honor his memory and assuage my guilt by helping this small community instead."
E: What are you afraid of?
"... What am I afraid of you ask?
<shudder>
Are you sure there are no other questions you would rather ask?
...
No? There aren't?
...
I see.
...
Well then. The answer, simply, is...
...
...
Me."

Halfling Urban Ranger - Tarco Tosscobble's profile is up, even if not quite finiShed. Please have a look!

ABOUT THE PLAYER:

1: What will you add to the party?
I love to role play. I learned from improv that you never say no. You have to roll with what happens to keep things moving. Mechanics are important, rules are important - but the show must go on. Its the story telling that I love. I am open minded about how the game should be played. I'm easy to play with. - I think.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
I always wanted to play a halfling slinger and explore what I can do with a sling staff. This party has a melee paladin as well as the powers and skills of the bard and alchemist. Tarco will provide skirmishing ability, sneaking skills and - I hope - a devastating range attack.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
Yes. I have been frequenting RP boards like this for years. I have learned how to pace myself. Sometimes real life interferes, but I make arrangements ahead of time and stay in touch. I wish the action would move faster...but that's how it is with PbP. We just have to keep rolling.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
Not really. Let's play!

ABOUT THE CHARACTER:

A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
"I grew up as a vagabond in a Varisian caravan among a gang of Scarzni outlaws. Many halflings, humans and other odd folk were among us. We lived on the outskirts of towns, living from the spoils of thievery and burglary. Oh we were all scoundrels and fighters. But it was survival. It was not always enough to sneak and flee...sometimes you had to fight too - and it was with these cut-throats that I learned to wield this here sword and how to fire this slingstaff . One grey night we were near the Lastwall border and we had found shelter in a ruin by an ancient mound. A cold fog rolled in and we were set upon by a horde of ghouls and other wicked undead filth. We were overrun. I saw my mates torn apart and eaten alive! I got away by flinging myself into the river and fleeing through the night to the nearby town of Grayce. I was Infected with a terrible wound - Ghoul Fever. The local Priestess Mabeth found me at her doorstep and took me in. They healed me as best they can....but you have to understand - you never really heal from something like that. My life has never been the same - sometimes I awake in my dreams as one of them monsters - feeding on the flesh of my brothers!

I pledged to server the Church of Pharasma in Grayce. They have a large landhold in those parts. I patrolled it as a warden, keeping the grounds and the temple quarter - hunting undead wherever I could find it. It was around this time that Professor Lorrimer came. He occasionaly visited the Abbey in Gracye for extended periods of time. Oh he knew so much about undead lore and shared it with us. I was aleays eager to learn and spent many hours late at night listening to his stories. It has been a few years since he last came.

Recently the Old Priestess Mabeth came to me and spoke of a dream and summmons from her God. "Something terrible is afoot in Ravengro" she told me. "Seek out Pertros Lorrimor and assist him however you can". She provided me with a rich sum with which to equip myself andI set out with the next wagon train.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
"I didn't even know that the Professor had died until I came, but I found out pretty quickly upon arrival. I am here now to find out what happened to him, and what kind of trouble is afoot in Ravengro."

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
"I am a servant of Pharasma. The Church is the first place I sought in this town."

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
"Priestess Mabeth sent me here to seek Lorrimor and assist with whatever might be haunting Ravengro. It is my duty. And if there is anything unholy threatening this place I will fight it!"

E: What are you afraid of?
"Do I have to recall my worst nightmares again?"

Dantrian

Great job of intragrating concept with the crunch.

More is always good but what you have is quite enough to go on. Just let me know if you are going for any non-core/APG gear.

Checking with GM re archetype. Will let you know when I know.

Ok, I apologize for the length of this, but may I present Alexa Waldgrun - Menhir Savant Druid.

Background:

Being born in Ustalav is never easy. And this is even more difficult when one is born into a small farming community not much more than a stones throw north of the horrific Gallowspire. While Canterwall has a much more progressive government than most of the southern and eastern counties of Ustalav, the fact that the resting place of the Whispering Tyrant is but a few leagues to the south causes continuous unease and concern.

This is the world into which Alexa Waldgrun was born. Born in the small village of Scheidweiler, Alexa learned about farming at an early age, and if she had been like most other young village girls, she would have married one of the boys from her village or a neighboring village and already had a family by now. But, this was not to be the fortune for Alexa. Instead, at the age of 14, she, rather than beginning to see boys, instead began to see spirits and evil. First it was simply detecting the presence of a mischievous gremlin. Then later, it was a feeling of being watched by something unseen.

While Alexa was uncomfortable about these feelings, she did not think much of them and continued to help her family on its farm, raising animals and tending the crops. However, about a year later, she awoke one night and felt an overwhelming presence of something evil, something undead. Now, undead are not unheard of or uncommon in southern Canterwall due to its close proximity to the resting place of the Whispering Tyrant, and the county always has a small garrison of five or six soldiers stationed in Scheidweiler in case some undead crosses the border and makes to attack the town. Sensing this presence, she ran to her parents room and awoke her father. He quickly grabbed his leather armor and sword and left the home with Alexa close behind, sling in hand.

Outside, the animals were making noises of fear and pain. Rushing to the barn, they found a ghoul which had killed and was in the process of consuming a sheep. She could see the fear in her father’s eyes as he raised his sword. So, as she had done in the past to scare off wolves and other living predators, She grabbed a stone, placed it into her sling and began to swing it about her head. As she did so, she whispered a prayer to the Green Spirits to guide her shot and protect her herd and family. As she did so, she felt a power flow from her to the stone which she launched striking the ghoul between the eyes. In what she and her father could only describe as a miracle, the small stone not only hit the ghoul, but crushed its skull so that it fell to the ground truly dead before it had a chance to even step toward her father.

Upon examining the corpse of the ghoul, it was apparent that some magical power had assisted her. What this power was, neither she nor her father had any idea. With the help of the guardsman who had heard an initial yell when the ghoul was spotted, they moved the ghoul and dead sheep out of the pen and then immediately burned both as was common when undead attacked. One never knows when the monster might rise again and there are more than a few stories of undead sheep, cattle and pigs attacking their owners after being killed by a ghoul.

The next day, Alexa and her father went to the local priest of Pharasma regarding the incident. While the priest had no idea what had occurred, he felt that the stone had possibly been imbued with some type of druidic magic. However, when Alexa told him that she had sensed the ghoul outside before she ever saw it, the priest became very concerned. Living in the shadow of the crypt of the most powerful undead lord in history causes many strange powers to affect people, and few of these are good. The priest told her that he would send word to the temple in Tamrivena.

Alexa never found out whether the priest sent word to Tamrivena or whether the temple responded. For two days later, when she awoke the majority of the village, most of whom she had known her whole life, were standing outside speaking with her father. Some held pitchforks, others old swords or other weapons. In a small village, word spreads fast, even if it is only told to a priest in confidence. However they learned, the xenophobic population of Scheidweiler had reached the conclusion that she was somehow connected or cursed with some undead powers. After a few more minutes, her father convinced the group to disburse, but Alexa knew that her life was about to change. That she would no longer be able to call Scheidweiler home.

The next day, after gathering her few belongings, she said goodbye to her parents and a few friends, and bid the village farewell. First she travelled north to Tamrivena, not knowing where to go in the dangerous and uncertain Ustalav wilds. She found a job as a barmaid and for two years until the age of seventeen, she remained in Tamrivena serving drinks and food to the few who passed through. But always she felt a longing, a need to return to the wild, to the plains and the forests where she had grown up. A need to spread her wings so to speak.

As her 18th birthday approached, Alexa realized that she needed to move on. Her father and mother visited her on her 18th birthday, having made the trip north to Tamrivena to sell the young lambs and to trade for necessary goods for the upcoming winter. After celebrating her birthday, Alexa told them that she needed to leave. She told them that she had been reading and studying and had found that an elderly druid lived several miles to the southeast in the forest. As her powers had continued to grow so that she could perform several magical tricks such as making her sling bullets much more powerful and being able to heal minor wounds, she was certain that she was infused with some type of druidic magic. So, she gave her parents a big hug and kiss and watched as they took to the road back south to Scheidweiler.

Alexa thanked the owner of the tavern for giving her a job and a place to sleep for the past several years, and then left Tamrivena heading southeast in search of the druid. After searching for a day, she finally found his home in a group of gnarly pine trees which twisted around one another to form a waterproof roof. To say that the druid was surprised to see her is an understatement as few other than skilled rangers and hunters wander the wilds of Ustalav alone. With a warm smile, she introduced herself and told him that she believed she had been touched by the Green Faith and wished to learn more about nature, the wild and the druidic way. The elderly druid gruffly welcomed her. He said that he rarely had any contact with humans or any other civilized people any more, preferring to live out his years carefully tending the forest to keep out the evil that continuously sought to infest the land from Belkzen and undead still abounding from the curse that was the Whispering Tyrant. He said that he would help her, but that being a druid was about learning the land, not reading books like wizards and other adventurous professions. Finally, he told her that she could spend a few days with him, but she would have to make her own home if she wished to stay as he was not interested in having a roommate.

Over the next two years, Alexa wandered the woods and plains of Canterwall. She learned about the animals and plants that existed there as well as many others from other places. She also learned that while she was a druid, her powers were rather unusual, likely from growing up close to the evil of Virlych and the Gallowspire. Whereas most druids such as her mentor could move about the forest without leaving a trail and could speak and communicate with the animals, she could sense and see things that did not appear. She could sense fey and undead and other creatures not entirely of this world. While undead were not common in the woods, her ability to sense these creatures allowed her on many occasions while wandering the lands to hide and avoid even having to face the monsters. Or, to be prepared with her powerful sling bullets to surprise the creature if she felt she could defeat it.

During her 20th year, she was traveling on the main road heading south from Tamrivena toward Ustalav’s main city, Caliphas. As she began to pass through a small copse of trees, she sensed some undead ahead. Quickly she slid into the woods and hid from them. However, unlike most undead which move about without any care other than the destruction of life, these undead remained in the same spot for a number of minutes. Then, as she was about to further investigate, she heard the sounds of horses coming up the road behind her. She quickly moved back down the road away from the undead and then stepped out of the trees to warn the riders of what was ahead. The riders thanked her for her warning, but said that they were more than capable of withstanding a few zombies or skeletons which was the most common type of undead encountered in the area.

Although concerned, Alexa said ok, but warned them to be careful, especially since one was an elderly man. Alexa then watched as the group carefully rode forward. About 100 yards down the road, three ghouls led by a ghast suddenly leapt out of the trees and attacked the group. While two of the ghouls were quickly dispatched, one ghoul and the ghast managed to paralyze three of the four guards. Alexa watched as the last guard battled the final ghoul and the ghast approached the old man, tongue flicking in and out while its evil dead eyes and long claws opened and closed as though in anticipation of feeding on these kills.

Alexa had never faced undead of this power before, but she quickly pulled out her sling and spoke a prayer to the Green Faith asking for the power to defeat these monsters. She then swung the sling about her head and released the stone. As had happened many years earlier, the stone struck home hitting the ghast in the side of the head. However, unlike her first encounter many years earlier, the ghast did not die instantly, but rather turned its black eyes upon her, a look of undead hatred on its evil face. As the ghast approached, she loaded a second stone and once again spoke a prayer as she released the missile. As before, the stone struck home, this time felling the monster. Then, as she watched, the old man moved his hands and several missiles of light sprung out striking the lone remaining ghoul and bringing it to the ground.

As soon as the battle was over, she ran to the fallen guards and used her healing powers to revive them. As she was doing this, the elderly man dismounted from his horse with much more grace than would be expected from one of his age. He then bowed to her and said that he was indebted to her for life for the help she had given. He told her that his name was Professor Lorrimor and then he asked her to join them for dinner as they would be making camp but a few miles down the road. Alexa was hesitant, but accepted his offer. As they had dinner, he asked her how she knew these undead were there. She told him that she could sense undead, fey and many other creatures, some of which she could not even see. After listening for a period, he asked if there was anything else she could do, mentioning that he had seen the power her sling stones brought in killing the ghast. She told him that for several years she had been living as a druid slowly learning their ways, although she never felt like a true druid as she was unable to connect with the creatures of the wild as could her mentor and the few other druids she had met in her travels.

The Professor listened patiently and then sat back thinking, slowly stroking his chin while sipping on a cup of tea. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity he spoke and told her that he thought she might be a rather rare type of druid known as a Menhir Savant. That she was just as much a druid as any other druid, just with slightly different powers.

After spending the evening speaking with the learned Professor, Alexa awoke the next morning with a new prospective on life as a druid. She returned to her mentor, the old druid who still had not told her his name. In fact he claimed to have forgotten his name after so many years on the wild. She told him of her meeting with the Professor. When the old druid heard who she had met, his eyes lit up. He told her that he to had met the professor in the past when the professor came inquiring about several unusual plants and insects that only lived in the area. He told her that the Professor was one of the most educated men in Ustalav, if not the entire Inner Sea region, and that if he said she was a druid with slightly unusual powers, then it was likely so.

With her newfound energy, Alexa returned to living under the stars and learning about nature. A few days later, while she was cleaning the small dwelling she had built near the old druid’s home, she heard a pained hooting from nearby. After listening, she found an injured owl with one wing partially clipped. She quickly picked up the owl which simply looked at her with its big eyes. She brought it back to the old druid and he quickly showed her how to heal the majestic bird. Once the owl was healed, she released it and then headed home. However, when she got home, the owl was sitting above her door watching her with its big eyes. She scratched its neck and smiled as she thought, perhaps I am becoming a real druid and being able to communicate with the animals. When she awoke the next morning, the owl was still there, as it was the next day, and the day after than. Finally, she went and talked to the old druid and he told her that many druids gained animal companions, bears, eagles, hawks, panthers and more unusual animals depending on where the druid was from. He thought that this owl had adopted her and was her animal companion.

After meeting the Professor and gaining her companion which she named Spark because of the way the light sparkled off his large eyes, Alexa often thought about the Professor and what other knowledge he might have for her, but sadly never again met him so that slowly she thought of him less and less while her druidic abilities grew. Thus, it was with great amazement that she received a tattered letter requesting her presence at his funeral and for the reading of his will. Unfortunately the messenger had errantly been sent to find her in the Shutterwood to the north, and did not arrive until well after the funeral. This greatly saddened her as she did not even realize that the Professor lived but a few leagues to the west in the hamlet of Ravengro. Thus, she assembled a few belongings and together with her companion Spark headed west to pay her last respects to one of the kindest men she had ever met.

Appearance:

To say that Alexa is a little unkept is an understatement. While she grew up in a village and does bathe from time to time. However, when one lives in the woods, one finds that the need for cleanliness is less than overwhelming. What you first notice about her is the large snowy owl perched upon her shoulder, its eyes always scanning and watching. As for Alexa, she is short and wiry with curly brown hair. Her clothing is principally made from the hides of animals and she carries a staff and sling.

To answer the above questions, many of which are probably answered in the background:

1: What will you add to the party?
- A young lady who is very interested in protecting the land. Although more interested in protecting nature than people, she knows that the powers that corrupt man just as quickly corrupt animals and plants.

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?
- She will likely stick mostly with druid, perhaps a level or two of ranger, bard or rogue to get some additional skills. Since being chased out of her village, she has been a little distrustful of others, but the professor was very kind to her, so she will give other people who the professor trusted the benefit of the doubt. She would love to be the druid to rid the land of the evil of the undead so that she no longer has to worry about sensing them and can get a good night's sleep.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
- I plan on posting daily until the end. I may be out of internet range for short periods, but in 9 months of playing, I doubt I have had more than 2-3 days without a post somewhere on this site.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
- Can I switch out the hawk for an owl as my familiar in the Eagle Domain?

As your character,
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
- I saved the Professor from an attack by some ghouls and a ghast laying in wait to attack.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
- Someone sent the messenger to the wrong forest, I didn't get the message until well after the funeral.

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
- Not sure about the purpose of this question as I have not read the Gameplay thread yet. Due to being able to sense undead, I likely would have gone to speak with the Parasman priests about any undead I sensed on my trip here.

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
- I grew up barely 100 miles from there. What happens here will likely affect my home. Even though I was chased out, I know that it was from fear and a lack of education, not any real dislike. By stopping the undead and evil in this town, it will be one more brick in the wall keeping evil out of my homeland.

E: What are you afraid of?
- The unknown. One thing that Alexa is always afraid of is the unknown because in addition to undead and fey, she can also sense other creatures, creatures which she cannot see. The Professor said that Menhir Savants could sense creatures from outside of this world, but this concerns her. Alexa likes to know what she is facing and not being able to see these creatures scares here. Who knows when it will become visible and attack her or someone she loves. This is another reason she has not returned to her village except on rare occasions at night to visit her parents. She does not want one of these unseen (ethereal, astral, etc) creatures suddenly appearing and laying waste to her family and friends.

Thoughts and comments so far:

After perusing these submissions, my thoughts first turn to Maya, Portia and Alexa. One because they are a Druid, another because they are a Rouge and the third because I find them over all interesting.

Secondly I turn to Tarco, Charles and lastly Hugo. Tarco because a ranger would be an interesting addition/damage~scouting character. Charles again because a Druid in such a setting will be interesting to see how they develop/play/interact and, well...Hugo is a Cleric and healing is always useful.

Yes, the naming of the characters is in descending order of how my views are towards people being accepted.

I am deeply sorry Master Dantrian Almaeus. Now, I most certainly do not want to seem hypocritical since mine own character is possibly dealing with things that man was not meant to know (Being a Summoner) but your character would seem to be developing into something which I would think would cause the party far more harm than gain.

Of all the people wishing to join, and again I thank you all deeply for your time and effort spent *Bows*

Much cheers to you and yours.

Yup take the average.

Here's my submission, all ready to go.

Leon is very tied to the history of Lastwall. Just about all the answers to your questions are in his profile.

Posting from my phone now. I'll give a more detailed post later.

Leon Ravencourt:
Hello! And I wish you the very best for your chances to join our group! (^_^) Just a small thing, though I realize that putting information into a phone can be hard/trying...but 'Weapon Finesse doesn't do what you've placed upon your character page.

It does this. Weapon Finesse

I hope the link and information helps and look forwards to a more polished and 'finished' page.

Much cheers to you and yours.

As an FYI, Alexa would be more of a Dex/Wisdom druid. Obviously capable of melee, but focusing on the sling. If the DM allows it and you want more melee, she could take Dancing Dervish/Weapon Finesse with the scimitar or pick up a level of ranger/rogue to gain another light weapon usable with weapon finesse.

Sorry that I did not do a crunch, but sort of ran out of time - gotta get some work done today.

Aw, what the hell. Hat....ring.

Feel free to apply but PLEASE be as quick as you can and note any class/archetype/feat/spell/gear you take from any source other than core of APG.

Make with the typing.

"Groundskeeper" was his job with the the notable Church of Pharasma in Grayce - a township in Ustalav near the Lastwall border. Its purely a fluff designation - it has nothing to do with his Class abilities - other than reinforcing his "rangerliness".

I just realized that my halfling slinger concept might involve some "non-core source material" (Halflings of Golarion), although the feats are all as easy to reference on the PFSRD website as anything else, and they do not imbalance the game or anything. I don't think the slingstaff would be nearly as fun without some feats to make it work well for halflings....and a bow-wielding halfling ranger just doesn't seem as interesting to me - despite the fact that he would be mechanically very similar.

I hope you can accept the halfling ranger with that in mind. Thanks.

Even the Urban Ranger archetype is from the APG. But I can easily make him a traditional Ranger and use core traits to "Rogueify" him. I have no problem with that - but Urban Ranger just fits a little better.

Here is a link to his "Ammo Drop" Feat
Ammo Drop

Sorry - I missed the part that it was anything outside of the CRB and APG that would have to be approved, I usually use the PFSRD site which has all the main PF rules compiled - although with errors occasionally which have to be carefully checked.

My plan is to take the Eagle Domain which is from the UM. I believe it uses all Core/APG spells except for Eagle Aerie which is the level 6 spell. Essentially, I get a domain and a familiar instead of an animal companion. I also get domain powers which are useful, but a little weaker than most (rogue evasion at level 6, but only when flying).

As for feats, the standard Spell Focus(conjugation) and Augment Summoning are what I would take. Can never have strong enough allies. I would have to look beyond that as I have not played druid enough to know at higher levels what would be best although the Superior Summoning from UM looks good - summoning a second critter to fight for you is never a bad thing.

At this point I have not really chosen every feat beyond there, I am sure I will run through a thousand potential builds before we get past level 3.

As for spells, I do not see many from UC or UM which I would expect to use frequently. Perhaps Ray of Sickening. Most of the UC and UM spell are very situation specific, so they are the type I might memorize if we knew we were walking into certain environments. The cold spells for instance if we knew there was a tough monster with weakness to cold.

For gear, I imagine she will have hide armor or a hide shirt depending on the AC/Dex effects. Wood shield, sling and a staff or club. Eventually she will upgrade to a scimitar. Most likely will have a healing kit and not much else. And lots of GoodBerries, you can never have too much stored healing. I have not looked over the rest of the equipment, but I don't plan on asking to allow her to use an Earthbreaker or some strange eastern weapon.

Dantrian's profile, if it isn't 100% fleshed out, is darn close to it now. As far as skills go, he does have Disable Device as a class skill as well as a rank in it. So, yes, he could certainly be a trap-springer/disarmer. He'd also be able to create alchemist fires and smokesticks and the such on the cheap, as well as antitoxins and cure potions.

No. And thanks for asking.

But if "Ammo Drop" is not acceptable to the GM (and I really hope it is), I can take the racial Warslinger trait from APG and replace Ammo Drop with Point Blank Shot. I would lose the "sure-footed" ability ...but that's not the end of the world.

Creel,

I did some more work on the background (see profile). I wasn't too happy with the interaction between her, Lorrimor and the Sczarni. I like the new version much better, and provides a potential plot hook should the GM want to use it.

Thanks, and good luck everyone!

My application would be for Harlen Vilnus, a sorceror with the undead bloodline. For a place like Ustalav, that seems like a good choice.

Harlen would be a native son of Ustalav - hailing from the county Vieland.

Don't have the character put together yet, so I understand if that excludes me. Thank for the consideration.

Spoiler:

1: What will you add to the party?
I like to get into the character and make him very active - hopefully in a good way to party dynamic. Otherwise, I can post usually every night without too much trouble and otherwise just want to get a chance to interact

2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play? Playing this particular template is something that I want to see develop, as I have never seen it done. In terms of roleplay, I see it as a character who searching for answers, and he's a little afraid to see he findst himself. This may be a journey into darkness for him that isn't going to end well.

3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?
I think it depends on how well the Pbp is flowing, and not just because of what you as a DM do. It could be the chemistry between players or how we tackle the story. I am very interested to see it through, but it would be disingenious of me to say that I can commit to the whole thing.

4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
Do you feel like there will be more straight RP conversation or is combat expected to play a bigger role? Just wondering.

As your character,
A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?
Harlen has heard of the Professor by reputation, and is hoping that he can shed some light on his condition. It comes as a great shock to him to learn the man is dead and his funeral has already taken place. Now he hopes his daughter might have some book or person she can recommend that might be of help in getting him more information.

B: Why did you miss the funeral?
Traveling from Vieland to Ravengro is not a simple task for a bookmaker's son with minimal coin and trying to avoid anyone who may think he's some kind of evil spirit.

C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?
Professor Lorrimer was his last chance to speak to someone about his condition who seemed like a scholar. Now, he's resolved himself to the fact that maybe clerical specialists may be his only choice - despite his misgivings about death.

D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?
Dreary as it may be, it reminds of home. When you grow up in Ustalav, a certain amount of such gloom is actually comforting. If its people need help, he want to aid them.

E: What are you afraid of?
Two things - death itself is one thing. Not dying, so much as what death will mean to someone touched by the grave. The other (less so) is people - what is wrong with him that scares people to hound him and will he ever be trusted again?

I've added the following to Portia's profile. I want to clean it up - and can - but I've got to head out for the day.

I look forward to seeing who's selected!

Background:

Portia grew up, the daughter of an average-at-best wizard in Ravengro. He studied countless hours, seeking to improve his craft, but achieved less-than-desirable results. While frustrated by his failures, he become obsessed with little Portia when she displayed something of an aptitude for the arcane. He invested a considerable amount of money in getting her talented tutors and trainers to help her become the wizard he was unable to become.

Unfortunately, Portia preferred other pursuits - dancing in particular. She stayed away from the formal Ustalavan dances, choosing instead to explore and experiment with exotic dances from Qadira and Varisia. An older Varisian woman who wore brightly colored silk scarves took her under her wing and taught her these dances. Her father was angered by this "distraction" - so much so, that he uprooted his entire family to Caliphas so that she (and, to be honest, he) could study from the "brightest arcane minds in Ustalav." Even with the uprooting, Portia still frequently managed to sneak away to dance with the numerous trade caravans and carnivals that came through.

When her father passed away in her 18th year, she mourned him, took her inheritance and began traveling. The first place she visited was her old home, Ravengro - particularly to see if her Varisian friend was still living. In a sad stroke of fate, she arrived on the very day of her funeral. She had died from an infection that had taken several other lives - it was determined that her belongings and her home needed to be destroyed to contain the threat. In an effort to hold onto a final memory of her's, Portia snuck into the quarantined house and stole a scarf - a bright pink one she remembered fondly.

Coming out of the home, she was caught and threatened to be put to death for carrying the disease out of the home. The Professor happened to be passing and rescued her, saying that he had requested the scarf so that the disease could be studied by his peers at the University of Lepdstadt. The guard allowed Portia to keep the scarf and her freedom. Portia was overcome with gratitude for the Professor. He smiled broadly and said it was nothing. He turned to walk away, but paused and turned back. He said that he may have need of her assistance in the future and he hoped that he could count on her should he call. She nodded eagerly - she was willing to do anything for him in that moment.

Here's the character with background. Still working out the character specs.

Much cheers to you and yours.

Yeah, he was originally submitted to a game where Weapon Finesse was houseruled. I'd actually forgotten about that. Thanks.

-Posting rate-
I can be counted on to post daily. Even more than that most days. I occasionally go away for the weekend, but I will always give notice when that occurs. (I'll be away this weekend, for example)

AS A PLAYER

Spoiler:

-1: What will you add to the party?-
Leon is a frontline fighter concentrating on defense and mobility. Basically he's a tough-guy fencer. He's also clever and quite knowledgeable about undead.

-2: How do you see your character developing both in terms of mechanics and in role play?-
Right now he's a novice at his work, overzealous and eager to prove himself. He's been trained but not tested. I see him becoming much more sure of himself, and much more devoted to his cause as he sees the true horrors of the world. Mechanically, I'm headed toward Duelist. I plan on taking two levels of Flowing Monk on the way to simulate a fencer's knack for defensive mobility and counter attacks.

-3: Do you feel able to commit to attempting the entire AP?-
Absofreackinglutely.

-4: Is there anything you want to ask us?
When can I start?

AS A CHARACTER

Spoiler:

-A: What is your connection to the Lorrimer family?-
The professor was one of Leon's tutors and a long-time friend of the Ravencourt family. Leon even lived in Harrowstone for a few years as a youth. (you'll notice that Leon has more than one Campaign Trait. He's very closely connected to the story.)

-B: Why did you miss the funeral?-
The pigeon was late. Leon rode like a bat out of hell for four days but still didn't make it in time. Leon didn't even know the professor had died. The last message he got was that the professor needed help!

-C: Why are you currently in or very near the local church to Pharasma?-
Pharasma is the patron goddess of the Ravencourt family. Many Ravencourts are priests, Clerics, Oracles and Inquisitors of Pharasma.

-D: Why do you care what happens to a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere?-
Because Leon used to live there, he owes it to the professor, and because it's his job.

-E: What are you afraid of?-
Failure. Disappointing his family. Not being strong enough or good enough to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

Ansha here, submitting the elven magus and agent of Kyonin, Tahlaera Silverbow.

1: I add wit and pinache, obviously! :D Seriously though, I like to think that I add a great deal of roleplay/atmosphere to a pbp game, and also am quite active on the boards. Posting multiple times a day is rarely a problem for me.

2: I see Tahlaera going straight magus. While she has her investigative aspects, her primary role mechanically is that of a front-line or support fighter with some added magical firepower. In roleplay, her primary role is a cross between a detective and a bodyguard.

3: Yep. No problems here. The only reason I've ever left a PbP is because it died before I did. ;P

4: Nope!

The answers to these are in Tahlaera's background, in her profile, but here are the highlights:

A: Tahlaera is a former colleague of Professor Lorrimer in their shared hunt for the Whispered Way. She has worked for him as a sort of bodyguard before, and even came to be something of a family friend before he died.

B: Tahlaera was on the trail of someone(s) connected to the Whispering Way, and she knew that the Professor would want her to maintain her focus on the task at hand--so she stayed on their trail, in his memory. Only after she completed that task did she return to Ravengro.

C: Kendra brought/sent word for Tahlaera to meet her there, knowing that Tahlaera was named in the will but unable to be present at the time of its reading.

D: Tahlaera doesn't care so much for the hamlet, as she wants to make sure that whatever problem arose in the hamlet doesn't spread, eventually making it a problem for other realms nearby (namely, Kyonin). She also wants to know what happened to her friend, the professor, and to avenge him.

E: Tahlaera is secretly afraid that if she were to die fighting the undead (a real possibility in Ustalav), her corpse would be reanimated and she would be forced to watch as she turned on friends, allies and the values she holds dear, a prisoner in her own body.
