Mmm Cheesus!

The names are very close. Farael is an anagram of Leafar and now he's Fallen as well as lost! DB is definitely on to something!

Wow...ok, now I see it. Good catch Kip84.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Any more words of wisdom from Farael?

Y'know, someone needs to say this.

I read a lot of the complaints threads in the Advice and General and Gamer Life forums, and really, I'm starting to wonder just how much of this is legitimate, real-world complaining and how much is just needless theorycrafting over problems that have never happened. I've lost count of how many threads have popped up about "these players are cheating" or "my players complain all the time" or "my groupmates don't treat me with respect" or any other number of whines. And nine times out of ten, they're from the same batch of people who always post threads like that. They're getting to be just as predictable as all the nonsense, pointless time-waster threads Tensor/Grand Magus/alias of the week puts up. "Oh another thread whining about __________, and look it's by XXXXXXXXX, how did I guess?!?" I should probably wise up and hide them just as quickly as I do the former.

For the love of [redacted]. Are you people and your groups really so [redacted] childish that you can't show each other an iota of respect and a little bit of [redacted] give-and-take? Or is your ego so easily bruised that you're taking every contradiction and argument as a full-on attack on your capabilities that you require a flight to the interwebz seeking someone to lavish sympathy on you? Really? REALLY?

Okay, okay, let's give you the benefit of the doubt. Let's say yeah, your group is this bad. For some [redacted] inexplicable reason, you've shackled yourself to a gaggle of unrepentant [redacted] chuckleheads, whose sole purpose in life is to make your [redacted] day utterly miserable. WHY THE EVERLOVING [redacted] ARE YOU STILL PLAYING WITH THEM??? Seriously?! Are you so [redacted] ADDICTED to [redacted] PATHFINDER that you absolutely [redacted] MUST play with these people? I love the game as much as the next guy and I'm disappointed when I can't play, sure, but hell if I had to make a decision between playing with a bunch of self-centered jackanapes or not playing at all you can bet everything you have I'd drop the game like a sack of bricks. (If you really think you ARE addicted to gaming, you have bigger problems I am not qualified to diagnose nor treat.) Are they holding a [redacted] gun to your or your spouse/kid/whatever's head to make you play? (Again, can't help you there.)

I find it really hard to believe, especially with the availability of online gaming, that these people are incapable of finding another group with which to play - save for the obvious "no one WANTS them to play in their group", which I'll touch on shortly - nor are they in a situation where leaving their current game would be impossible. But even more hard to believe is the idea that these complainers are all 100% shining beacons of logic and decency and their groups of which they constantly complain are the shambling tabletop gremlins that they are frequently depicted to be. What seems a lot more likely is that these guys, especially the frequent repeat complainers, are doing something - that they are conveniently leaving out - to trigger some level of animosity from their fellow players.

I'm sure that there are some among the crowd who are legitimately getting flak without cause, and to those people I give my sympathies, especially since their honest issues are getting flooded over with what I can't help but perceive as overblown, self-aggrandizing, attention-seeking accounts of abuse, ostracization, and/or hostility that are either deserved due to some event or action they conveniently neglect to include, blew far out of proportion to the actual response or interaction that occurred offline, or completely fabricated to begin with.

Especially since 90% of the complaints boil down to either basic expectation conflict - in which case one side needs to adjust its expectations to meet the other, or the group needs to separate because they clearly want two very different things out of the game (a point that could be very strongly applied to certain OTHER aspects of IRL, but that's not a discussion I want to get into in this particular rant) - or stupid simple things like miscommunication or LACK of communication. When your first idea to solve a dilemma like a conflict at the gaming table is to whine online and ask people how to solve it rather than [redacted] TALKING to your player/GM/whatever, you have bigger issues than your table's conflict, you have problems with attention seeking or inability to cope with confrontations. And if your player/GM/whatever refuses to talk or even recognize your viewpoint, bringing it up online is really kind of a moot point because s/he is clearly a [redacted] douchebag and should be handled like one, and anyone with a decent level of intelligence and maturity - which, benefit of the doubt again (which might well bite me in the [redacted] one day), I'm gonna assume most of these people at least possess in SOME volume - should be able to figure out without fifty anonymous echoes on the internet having to coach them through it.

Essentially what it boils down to is a fear of conflict. They would rather "complain anonymously on the internets" than actually do something about the problem. Trust me, I deal with these kinds of issues on a daily basis.

Yeah, you know what I can't stand? JMDwhatever, I just want to tell him off, but...oh, shiznit, you're right there.

I guess that's one of my problems, I'm a bit on the blunt side and not too afraid of conflict... so I really don't understand what the big deal is about pulling people aside and just giving them the layout.

Yesterday, many turkeys were eaten. Let's have a moment of silence for them.

Meh, turkeys are generally a&~!$!@s. I say good riddance to those lost in yesterday's hunger games.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Hunger Games....lol, I get jokes.

"May the odds ever be in your favor"

Burps prior to his moment of silence.

That's better, more room now.

And I am not one of those. Well, actually, I am, but not right now.

Feast your eyes on this, unbelievers!

All this means to me is that JDM031's theory seems to stand validated. Anklebiter did too much bubble, bubble bubble forgot the password to continue the Lanfear the Lost guy. And this new guy he is trying to prop up as Lanfear while he seems a little strange and out there clearly has no idea what you are talking about. Is there something extra special in your bubble bubble lately causing hallucinations perhaps?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Well the main ingredient of <bubble, bubble, bubble> is THC which is a mild form of LSD. So like obviously.

With all the Hostess snacks being snapped up by panickers and speculators, he may be going into forced withdrawal from the lack of complex preservatives and artificial flavors?

Or maybe he has been targeted for mind control experiments by evil USPS employees?

Sorry I am back.

Been busy as of late you know.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I pulled a muscle in my back...this sucks.

Sorry to hear that JMD031. Pulling muscles is awful ... in fact I think someone should do something about that and make sure this does not happen any more. Are muscles should be enhanced so no longer do they pull and strain. Honestly we have so many advancements in life can't they fix this sort of thing already?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I never feel like I'm getting ahead any more. I'm probably going to have to rethink my priorities of work.

Those of you expecting a rant will be sadly disappointed...this time.

What about next time? Can we pretty please get a rant?

I feel like ranting about the dearth of rants.

At your request....RANT INCOMING!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Welcome back rant fans! Today’s topic is supposed to be about Purple People Eaters but I think it is a (expletive deleted) topic but here goes nothing. First things first, what the (expletive deleted) does this have to do with anything? I mean I know there is a (expletive deleted) song about it, which I’m not sure if they are singing about a “one eyed, one horn, flying, purple people eater” or a “one eyed, one horn, flying, purple, people eater”. In case you didn’t get that last part, I’m basically asking is the quantifier “purple” mean that this (expletive deleted) song is about a monster that eats purple people or if it’s about a purple monster that eats people. It’s completely left (expletive deleted) ambiguous to (expletive deleted) people like me off. Anyways, I personally want to find out whoever suggested this as a topic and (expletive deleted) kick their (expletive deleted) (expletive deleted). I don’t think I’ve ever had a topic I’ve ranted about that I could not care less about. Seriously, what the (expletive deleted) do I care about Purple People Eaters. I’m not purple, so I feel I’m safe there and if it has something to do with Purple monsters who eat people, I’m sure I’d be able to see them a (expletive deleted) mile away and would be able to get away from them. If not, I’m (expletive deleted) dead, so what do I care. The only good thing to come out of this (expletive deleted) topic is that I’ve gotten to use the phrase “expletive deleted” more than I usually do. On that note, (expletive deleted) it! Rant over.

Tune in next time when I rant about…”Pushy Monkey Kings”…(Expletive deleted)!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Ok...so I get it. You want more rants.

RANT INCOMING!!!!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Welcome back rant fans! This rant is about “Pushy Monkey Kings”. (Expletive deleted), what does this have to do with the price of tea in (expletive deleted) China. Whatever, we’re moving on. This topic was suggested several months ago so I’m not even sure what the original intent of the topic is supposed to be or what the relevant current event that might have sparked it was. In the literal since this topic implies that somewhere is a country run by monkeys who are impatient. That is a funny thought. Seriously, just try to think about that without smiling. If you say you can, you are a (expletive deleted) liar. Of course if you think about, we are being run by “Pushy Monkey Kings” in the metaphorical sense. I would consider most of the people in Congress to be “Pushy Monkeys”, the King part is a bit debatable. Something tells me this whole topic was suggested as a means to just (expletive deleted) me off. Seriously, what could I possibly have to rant about “Pushy Monkey Kings”? I don’t live in a jungle, nor do I even live in a place that is ruled by a monarch. I just thought of something else to add to the image of a Monkey King and that involves the flinging of (expletive deleted). Can you imagine the UN with a “Pushy Monkey King” flinging (expletive deleted) all over the place? That would be (expletive deleted) hilarious. If we are still taking in a “metaphorical” sense, then I guess I’ve already had a rant about “Pushy Monkey Kings” when I ranted about “Dead Middle East Dictators”. (Expletive deleted) I hope that the next topic is way better than these most recent ones. Rant over.

Join me next time when I rant about Canadians…Oh Canada, that will be a fun one.

That and it would be nice if the (x) voter tag wasn't basically a waste of time.
