As to the drizzt issue, I actually enjoy the legend series even still. in the last 2 I've read everyone in the "party" besides drizzt and guen have been killed off, so now he's rolling with some elf chick with issues. It feels to me like salvatore is outside his comfort zone and exploring new characters along with some new facets of some older characters which still have ways of being around.

Salvatore is setting his stories in the Forgotten Realms "present", so we're talking about a century and a half after Icewind Dale. It's kind of the same feeling watching the new Avatar series, Legend of Korra which is 75 years after the original Aamg stories. Only one of the old gang is left, and she's not long for this world.

tat crazy elf chick does not im,press me that she'll be around for long anyway.
I expect her to die in the enxt book.

though if she doesnt I would be suprised either

Anyone can die in a Salvatore book. As a certain barbarian mainline hero found out the hard way.

So I guess the question is, can she stay dead?

I think their +2 to dex helps out with balance.
