IIRC Gary and Co. mentioned in the past that break others guidelines is good enough.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the future of construct allies. . .The Enforcement Droid, Series 209, or ED-209, are a fully-automated series of constructs created by Omni Consumer Products. Currently, the units are programmed for urban pacification, but OCP has also negotiated contracts with the military for use in war.

Get one for yourself today!

I don't know why, but first time I read this it was "Programmed for urban petrification".

That would be an interesting typo in the code I suspect....
"Hey boss.... you know how the last guy said that sorting this was like straightening medusa hair? Funny he should use that turn of phrase..."

Jeez, don't remind me. Last medusa job was hell.

In all seriousness Paizo Crew, do you folks have a drinking game built around this yet?

Because if so that sounds dangerous.

Weekend spammer strikes again.

And another just posted in Website Feedback section...

EDIT: Flag flag, flag, the stupid spammer! This one does not follow the rule of three, apparently. It had a one total fail by posting in Paizo products section and one reasonable hit with Homebrewed section :P

Twenty spam posts in 24 minutes. Fortunately, it's easy to flag them all from its profile page. :P

FYI, this isn't spam for a real company, it's a scammer who tries to get's people info to steal money/steal identity/etc.
I discovered that with a Google search, they change their name/etc but it's always the same pattern.
They appear to be operating out of Cameroon, from the capitol Yaounde specifically.

I think a good approach may be creating a relatively broad 'filter list' that scans posts.
When it hits, the web staff is alerted to the message with an option delete the post and kill the account.
When normal posters who happen to trigger the filter list come up, there is an option to 'whitelist' real forum members.
(whitelisting from the filterlist, still subject to flagging, etc)

I am not really sure if the scammer is reading this, but I will just say that I don't think they are technically skilled in internet-fu,
meaning that they would not be able to bypass certain technical means to bar access to them, if that's clear enough.

I had a good laugh when I saw they posted on a schizophrenia support site...

Where's the NSA when you need 'em?

When these topics pop up, please don't respond to them. Flag them, and even post a link to them in this thread, but every response to one of those threads is an additional post we have to remove. Thanks!

That's what I thought. I used to try to discourage people from doing just that, but numerous people replied "No, you're wrong. Paizo does not have to individually delete these posts, they can delete them all with one click."

So I'm glad you're making this clear,

Perhaps a Black Flag (or miniature Jolly Roger flag) can be used specifically for such message board contaminants? ^_____^

I hope you've got some "ban every thread started by user X" code. They're back with gusto - about one post every fifteen seconds for the last fifteen minutes. Ugh.

How did they start threads in the Product Discussion forums? That's super weird.

Ooo yeah. I've never been allowed to do that. :(

I really wish we could track these douchebags down and beat the crap out of them instead of just flagging their crap.

That would be a great movie. A bunch of Paizo fans go to Africa to beat up some scammer.

Holy crap! I woke up at 0630 CDT and every thread through Legacy of Fire thread had the same a*@*~%% spamming. I tried to flag them all but ran out of time after the first ten or so threads.

Hey, that Priest Sangoma is good, his/hers spambot at least hit advice section!

Ok, that one is devious... It (or more probably some actual spammer instead of bot) placed its ad into the wishlist.

It might mean that soon an ability to flag user accounts might be needed.

Is anyone else experiencing a series of popup ads on the site.I keep getting flash ads up every time I go to a new page.

I don't get any popup ads here.

If it only happens on your computer on one specific browser it could be malicious script that settled in your browser.

Not just spammy, but frickin' racist too.
