That molv 's threads are practically covering the main page of Forum Games

That's one of the things that would be great.

Perhaps an IP ban? Now that isn't permanent since he would access a different comp/portable, but it removes at least one of his devices.
And hope he/she/it isn't using some university network thing to broadcast-spam the forums :/

Remove a spammer account, block their email.

And another one jamming up the Customer Service thread.

Pathfinder Adventure, Rulebook Subscriber

Just go look in the Customer Service Forum, This Guy has started 35 threads within seconds of each other there.

That is a Bot, let's give it the boot.

Then they change to another e-mail account, and make a new spam account.

I think something does need to be done, though. I counted three separate bot attacks with three separate phone numbers, and they are posting more posts each.

The bots can overwhelm manual removal if they choose. Automated measures seem to be called for.

Is it just me or do these seem to be getting more and more frequent?

It is not just you.

It's THEM

More baba ji. Something must be done. The fake documents guy is nowhere near this persistent. :\

It's also worrisome that they're covering more time -- they're posting at about noon EDT, now, which suggests that some new spammers have just come on-line working US hours instead of India hours.

We need an automatic post destroyer for these walking garbage cans.

Since they like spam, I think the staff should send spam (And not the nice kind) their way and see if they like it.

Ah of course... THEM

It would make a lot of sense now wouldn't it. Hive mind and all that.

He *must* be good at the black magic to keep respawning :/

Here's another. Flagging as his posts come up.

And another. Just one post so far, but I think our tolerance is now low.

Doesn't a forum with this many geeks have SOMEONE that can track down an IP address and flood their computer with spam?

I'm afraid I'm mostly a comic & gamer geek- pretty low on the Poindexter Scale. Someone more alpha-geek will hafta take up that challenge. But it would be nice.

Surprisingly it's been quiet from Baba Ji's camp. Maybe they all went to see Amazing Spiderman 2.

I found one Here

Lots. You don't really think he's using his own computer, do you? And, frankly, I think there's more than one of him.

Molvinthebaba is back in forum games...kill it...kill it with fire

Yes, kill it with fire.

I'd be happy if someone nuked it from orbit so we could be sure.

More spam.

Another one here

Another of Baba Ji's minions.

He's back again.

I worked for a company that supported main frame computers, and some of the support contracts were off shored to India. They would work from 1500 to 2400 (or so) so that their work hours coincided with US work hours. This could be a person from India who finished his day job over there, and is logging on in the evening to make a couple of extra bucks.

I would like to float a couple of ideas to help solve this issue of spammers.

1) New accounts only, ie. not an alias of existing good accounts, are allowed to be created during Paizo business hours only and by approval of Paizo staff.

2) While I really dislike the idea of super users, start with a couple off shore, perhaps Steve Geddes (Australia?), and give them permission to "freeze" an account that is spamming. Not clear it up, just prevent them from posting more. When they freeze an account an email is sent to that person from webmaster with some text and how they can be removed from being frozen. Then it is followed up by Paizo staff the next business day.

Revenge of Baba Ji 4: Off topic!

That one's likely to impact the business side a bit more than Paizo would like (if a new customer can't create an account and buy something right away, they're likely to go elsewhere), but with an adjustment could be workable:

- Allow account creation to work, but any posts to message boards are hidden from everyone except Paizo staff until they've had admin approval. That way they can still make posts - especially important for the customer service board - and get responses from Paizo staff.

Although that just pushes the spammers to make what appear to be on-topic posts for their first few posts. Personally I'm still more in favor of restricting the number of brand new topics any poster can create in the space of an hour or so.

Apparently Baba Ji has DIV ORC PROBLEM SOLUTION. Guess they'd need that in the areas around Hold of Belkzen. They can ask him in Off topic.

My 2 cents but I think the "admin allowed post privileges" is a really good idea. Someone can make an account to order products but are blocked from posting until they get approval.

Otherwise, can the board software be set up to block posts if the post contains certain phrases/numerals (for example, the phone number babaji keeps posting). Or perhaps delete/alter/change the post in some way? After all, there's a script here that allows all avatars to change if the word smurf is said, so it seems like that might be possible--but my understanding of programming is pretty basic.

We are brainstorming over here on ways we can get the spam at bay. Currently it's been pushed back by some higher priority projects, but we appreciate all the ideas being brought up. Hopefully we can implement something soon. In the meantime, thank you for helping us isolate these accounts :)

Another new one - molvinathbaba456

Guess who's back, back again?

Man these guys are persistent.

I swear we need a giant can of Raid to get rid of these roaches.

Seriously, how do they keep doing this and why? The ads are totally bogus.

I saw one that was advertising that the solution to all problems is black magic. Spam is a problem.

Anyone up for ritually sacrificing a spammer to the computer gods?

My new theory is that they are trying to get everything read by web spiders for search engines. Basically they are search engine trolling. So they put up a ton of stuff filled nearly incomprehensible sentences but filled with keywords and their web location and phone number.

Oh wait, nm. He totally did.

Also, found this while searching on a lark.

No posts, no reviews, just a profile page filled with the same spam.

Another foul minion.

Forum Games' page is almost consumed again.

Dark Archive

Here's another active one.

Yup, on forum games first page and 1 third of the 2nd is now spam only.
