Godsmouth definitely has a bigger story and deals with much bigger implications, such as the history of the church of Pharasma.
However, I think Everflame is simply more fun. It's an old-school dungeon crawl with a simple story that is actually a bit clever and fun. As a prelude to Runelords, I think Everflame fits better, since most of the themes of Godsmouth have nothing to do with the AP. However, Crypt of the Everflame fits the old-school adventuring style much better I think.
Also, Everflame is about as "straight-forward" of a dungeon crawl as it gets, as it's fairly linear in its progression. Godsmouth is one huge level that can essentially be tackled like a sandbox. There's no real sense of a "right or wrong way" to go.
In my case, my group proceeded to head straight for the BBEG within a couple of hours, bypassing most of the dungeon. It made the rest of the adventure a tad bit anticlimactic, but still entertaining.

Sounds like Everflame might be the way to go. We basically just want a fun adventure to do before we get immersed in ROTRL.
We'll put off Godsmouth for later. Thanks for the input!
