Afternoon folks.

May your day be free of paradoxical confusion and hysteria, and wisdom gained during the course of it.

Computer Saga:
So the computer was making loud unhappy fan noises when I went to bed, but the gpu was holding steady at 44C and the processor across all chips at 30C. Woke up this morning and computer was NOT making loud unhappy fan noises, but gpu was reading at 63C and processor readings were at 24C... *headdesk* Getting a new card, hopefully in the next week or so, hopefully machine can handle it.

Sorry to hear that, Wei Ji. But at least we tried.

Hey, it's still working at least!

Which is a far cry from it blacking out randomly and emanating disturbing heat levels!

And don't forget:
'I really need that new GPU, the old one is already dying'
is always a better sounding justification than
'I need more power for gaming'
;-)

To be fair, though, there are plenty of non-gaming activities that require a good graphics card. Such as Movie editing, real-time video ( with real-time communications, like in the military ), graphics rendering for scientific research, and so on.

About to leave for work. I'll be back on-line at about 5. And today, I won't forget to announce my return, like I did Yesterday.

But non of those would have worked for my encouraging reply ;-)

I'm back, here at work now.

It felt appropriate, given everything that's happened.

Have a good night, Feytharn.

In about 7 hours. I don't get home until after 1 AM Eastern Standard Time.

So tomorrow is off again...my Trans friend I was going with canceled on me. He forgot he had a job interview tomorrow night. I am very uncomfortable going by myself. Sigh.

It is okay there will be other things like this I am sure.

Sorry to hear that. Keep your spirits up. There will be other opportunities, I'm sure.

Just got home. I have a few minutes before I go to bed. Thanks Selene and Wei Ji. It will be good to be just a player again.

A few people have asked me for the link. It's been suggested that it's not against the rules to post it so I'm going to share it here. If it is, or if it's better to start another thread, I'll do what's right by the rules of the boards.

Here's the link.

I had my intake appointment today. They drew more blood. I expected that. They are also setting me up with an audiologist. I would rather see a neurologist, but they are also thinking that I'm probably right. All the symptoms are pointing that way.

I really want to thank everyone for their kindness. Even if you can't, or don't feel comfortable with it, I would be grateful if you just shared it on your social media or with friends/family offline.

On another note, the VA has a bunch of signs all over the place about how much they are there to help vets with LGBT issues, including things like voice training and transitions. It's nice to see support like that. It's not like it's hidden. There are signs in every single room I was in.

Sorry for not being on-line for two hours. The guard I normally relieve got pulled to another site, so I got pulled in for a couple hours of overtime.

Reason:
"This? Oh, stupid allergies are getting me something fierce and there's not-a-thing I can take for them, because the side effects of everything I could take for them are worse than struggling through them and can even make me more ill. However, in the efforts of preventing any possible biologicals spreading around, just in case..."

Leaving for work soon. Be back on-line at around 5.

Finally, back on-line. Hotspot being temperamental.

Year at college almost done! The depression sure is....something, but at least I'll have less stuff to do to get in the way of positive thoughts.

Hugs for all y'all :)

Thanks for the head's up, John, and hope folks have an enlightenting day. Be safe and careful out there.

But... the thing about the beak on those masks is you'd stick a bunch of fresh flowers and herbs in them to overcome the corpse stench... So... that sounds bad for allergies...

Actually, it may not be the hotspot. My tablet is getting better response than my laptop. I'll have to do something to speed it up. I'm open to suggestions.

Nevermind. I took care of it. :)

So I was able to speak to the VA and the earliest appointment I can get in is June 1. That would be 3 more weeks without income. I'm able to sit. Even though I get really dizzy, I can work while sitting. My job requires me to stand, but I have a lot of training to do still and it's all computer training. It's hard to think when I get really dizzy. I'm also being tested on things that I have been doing in my head for 15 years. The few things that I don't do regularly would require me to spend a little more time on. I normally get the training done in about 10% to 15% of the time. That means that even if it takes me twice as long I should still be able to get everything done in a very reasonable amount of time.

I'm going to talk to the store manager and my pharmacist (I'm a pharmacy technician) and see if they are good with this plan. I'm also going to talk to HR and see what options they can come up with.

My pharmacist wants me to see if the VA will write a prescription for a water pill so I can start taking that right away. The over the counter pills aren't doing anything, but the prescription ones might and they are a normal part of the treatment. Valium is also a normal part of the treatment, but they probably won't want to write for that without a diagnosis. I could, theoretically, have the psychiatrist write for it since it's also for anxiety and I have anxiety and PTSD that's already been diagnosed. I just don't feel comfortable with that plan. Then again, my anxiety is starting to increase without income so it's not unreasonable.

Bob, I think it's good that you're being proactive and dynamic about all this.

Meds can be a good thing or even necessary to help the brain come back to its senses. Obviously they should not be self-prescripted but then I think you already know about that

I wish you the very best
