Good news indeed!
(just fyi, it's just "trans men." "Trans" is an adjective. "Transmen" and "Transwomen" implies that we are something different from men and women, respectively)
No worries! Easily fixed. Thank you <3

Pretty much the only reason that I can imagine him doing that is because he knows that he f!&!ed up really hard with the flight ban, and if he does anything that actually targets the 'Murican people right after that, the protests will become much worse, and he'll be in danger of not only being impeached, but being impeached in under two months after he was inaugurated.

Methinks Pence are the last cookie in the pack and he's doing this out of spite.

Or just that Bannon's winning the intra-White House war for control over Trump.
Trump never really cared about LGBTQ bans. That was Pence's thing.
Plus, I'll believe it when I see it. Or don't, as the case may be.
As Wei Ji said, the words are weasely and we know Trump lies.

Keep in mind that Trump deciding not to rescind those LGBT protections doesn't mean he won't go the "religious exception" route.

Trump has never really cared about LGBT issues, but Putin hates the queer community, and Bannon HATES trans people. I honestly think this is laying the groundwork for an anti-LGBT event aimed at splitting the main queer community from the trans and/or bi community. Or more likely, Trump doesn't see any conflict of interests in leaving the Obama protections for LGBT federal employees AND pushing through FADA by executive order—trying to have his cake and eat it, too.

I was falling asleep last night and was jolted awake, as if from a nightmare, when my brain reminded me that DT and Bannon are living humans who exist.
I think I basically just imagined them as creatures who also have to sleep, and was struck viscerally, rather than simply intellectually, by the banality of evil. I'm getting tired of all the claims of conspiracy and telling people that fascists aren't crazy, just cruel.

I didn't know that Bannon had it out specifically for us...that's incredibly scary D:

A not-at-all-insignificant percentage of articles published on Breitbart are just absolutely viscious libelous hit pieces written about random trans people nobody's heard of, accusing them of everything from terrorism to pedophilia, and providing entire family trees to stalkers.
Plus they're who started that whole "drop the T from LGBT" thing.

Gorsuch has been nominated for the Supreme Court position. (That is, for the position that should have gone to moderate Merrick Garland.)
In the past, he sided with Hobby Lobby on religious exceptions with regards to medical care. (In that case, contraceptives.)
Per our earlier discussion, this may be why Trump kept Obama's protections for LGBT people. He (or Bannon) knew they'd be gutted by this Supreme Court pick.
Worried now about how the Gavin Grimm case is going to work out. Was hoping that would get going before Trump nominated someone.
And I'm now fully expecting the university I work at to drop the recently announced insurance coverage for gender transition. They started making noises about doing that after Trump was elected.
I'm exhausted. I feel like the Obama Administration was months ago now, something in the distant past.

To shamelessly steal from one of my favorite songs, we need to hold on to what we fight for. To what we strive for: hope, above all. Hope for a better future. Hope to get the closet demolished. Hope that someday we can be who we are, completely unashamed.
We will fight for hope, we will fight for our values, we will fight for our friends. We will fight through this blight and find the light at the end.

Since there will likely be a number of battles over LGBTQ writes in the coming years, he's a good person to follow:
Chase Strangio, ACLU lawyer who specializes in LGBTQ issues. That's his twitter feed.
I check in on his feed once or twice a week to see what's up.

If you've never read the festering trash heap that is Breitbart, I recommend doing so. Just use an incognito tab on your browser so they don't get cookies on your computer. It's good to know what your enemies think.
I know it all too well from the email forwards my crazy racist 80-year-old aunt is always sending out.
She has NO IDEA that her favorite grandson is gay, her favorite grand-neice (my daughter) is queer, or that her favorite nephew (me) is bi.

I have few spoons anymore to deal with such things. Simply keeping up with the news is draining. Considering that ass Milo has been to my alma mater twice, I know too much about it already.

Yeah. Worth doing if you're somehow still in denial about Acting-President Bannon, but for those who already know - there aren't enough spoons in existence.

As expected, Wisconsin stops coverage for transgender medical care, effective today.
Coverage had just begun in January 1st.

More positively, some recognition from the city of San Francisco for the Compton's Cafeteria riot..
Important bit of trans history, as trans people and drag queens stood up to police brutality in 1966.
A bit more on it here and here.
And adding in this picture because it's awesome.

Sadly I am not surprised. Ever since Walker became governor I have noticed that the conservatives have been doing whatever they can to turn Wisconsin into a red state, including some rather questionable and even illegal election day practices.
I could go more into that and other (censored) that Walker and his fellow conservative leaders have done but I'm afraid it would just anger me more.
And the angrier I get the worse my depression gets and I rather try to keep a more positive mindset. (And, believe it or not, making other people's days better always puts me in a better mood.)

So I am trying to figure things out for myself, but this is what I have so far...
I had a friend who was heavily influenced by TERF-style thinking (despite being a decent/good person) and a couple of other friends in the Madison area who were also very critical of transgender rights or 'that it was even a thing'.
I also had a few friends in the Milwaukee area, that were so anti-trans that they make some of the Breitbart folks look downright liberal.
I don't hang around with them anymore.
Every weekend I'd go to visit was an internal roller-coaster of gut-churning nausea (and not from eating overmuch or well, or the water, or anything else).
The frustrating thing is that the parents are talking seriously about moving up to that area, claiming it's 'the best cheapest route' compared to the current state we live in.
I can't broach topics like this in discussion with them.
*will take the hugs with appreciation*

I've been slowly replacing them with higher quality friends over time. Some are here hopefully.

If you're willing to have a straight white male who is more than a little odd, has been described as having a very motherly personality, has two ears that are willing to listen, two shoulders for crying on if you need them, two arms for hugging, and gets the greatest joy in life in getting others to smile then you've got a friend in Hartford, Wisconsin.
And that goes for everyone else here.
(Oh, and if anyone is wondering why I said straight white male I have had some people online think I was a woman and others think I was a gay man and they were shocked to find out I was neither and thought I would be offended - I wasn't. And I'm rambling.)
