Fresh from their successes in Escadar, the heroes bring their traveling circus to the Isle of Kortos—the so–called Starstone Isle at the heart of the Inner Sea. As their circus tours the farming communities in the breadbasket known as the Swardlands, the heroes get a chance to explore the three aeon towers that impart enchanted bounty to the land. Yet all is not well in the Swardlands, as ecological damage and raiding beasts threaten the hardworking farmers and loggers. The heroes must overcome the aeon towers' stony guardians, entrenched xulgath hordes, and a zealous dero murderer before they can confront the xulgaths' alchemist leader and disrupt his disastrous scheme to use the aeon towers to bring ruin to everyone on the island!

"Life's Long Shadows" is a Pathfinder adventure for four 9th–level characters. This adventure, from author Greg A. Vaughan, continues the Extinction Curse Adventure Path, a six–part, monthly campaign in which the heroes lead a traveling circus as they unravel a plot to eradicate all life from the islands of the Inner Sea. This adventure also includes information about the bountiful area known as the Swardlands and the malevolent demon lord Zevgavizeb, as well as new monsters and rules.

Each monthly full–color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in–depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world’s oldest fantasy RPG.

Felt Like Filler

2/5

While Book 2 of Extinction Curse was great, this one was a let down. It just felt really... bland. First, the encounter difficulty was all over the place. This isn't uncommon for sandbox-style adventures, I suppose, but with PF2e's very tight difficulty curves it could be a pain.

Second, the scenarios were really repetitive. Like... really repetitive. Go to a tower. Fight Xulgath. Then on to the next tower, fight more Xulgath. There weren't many other subplots in the book except for the (ok) murder mystery thing that permeated the whole book.

The setting felt pretty boring to me, and there weren't many notable NPCs to play. This whole scenario felt like sidequest filler, which is bad considering it's absolutely integral to the plot of the entire AP. There were some fun moments, but overall I wasn't really a fan.

I find the Part about the Dero (formerly known as Derro) murderer interesting.
Alchemists seem to be the Bad guys quite often, the first Module "The Fall of Plaguestone" also has one.

Ooh Zevgavizeb article!

Maybe we will finally find out whether or not he was qlippoth lord :D Its kinda confusing since its not mentioned in his book of the damned article, but qlippoth lords article mentions him along others

Greg Vaughn is back!!!

It's about time you got America's favorite heartthrob to return to writing adventures!

Zevgavizeb, the dinosaur demon lord. I wounder how James fells about this particular demon lord getting an article all to himself.

I'm also curious to known his relationship with his qlippoth ancestry.

I disapprove of dropping the issue numbers, and hope that's soon corrected.

You'll find them as foes more often than champions!

More seriously, though, villains don't really need "classes" in Pathfinder Second Edition, so we're free to use, for example, "this enemy can hurl bombs, but not other alchemist stuff" and "this enemy uses lots of poisons, but also casts some divine spells, but isn't wholly an alchemist or a cleric."

Sometimes a villain might look very much like a particular character class ("oh, this foe can rage and has all sorts of rage powers and does lots of damage"), but other times not quite so much. I find it very flexible and freeing, from a villain design perspective and an encounter design perspective.

What do you mean by dropping issue numbers? This is #153, continuing the numbering of adventure path volumes from Pathfinder #1 Burnt Offerings.

They only announced completion of order generation this afternoon, so I doubt that they have started shipments yet -- and that is assuming that the warehouse workers are showing up when everyone else there is working from home.

So with the usual delay to verify the auth orders, I am expecting them to either begin shipping or announce a major shipping delay somewhere between tomorrow afternoon and Thursday afternoon.

And apparently they have people in the warehouse shipping those boxes out.

Dark Archive

How about now?

Last I heard they finally got the customer service team working from home and they had to delay shipping a day or two so they could catch up with subscription cancellations and whatnot.

I've got my PDF now. We get a new ancestry that were apparently creations of Aroden to keep him company on the Isle of Kortos, and I am not making the following thing up:

Spoiler:
the Shoony, or basically Pug-folk. Short, squat, and likely to get hit with the "they're worse than Kender and Kitsune combined" bat if they ever hit my gametable.

Is this a PC ancestry? Or just a new race of creatures that show up as monsters?

Ancestry specifically refers to what players can pick to play :3

Anyone mind sharing the bestiary? To be quite honest I want to see the new ancestry, sounds kind of fun.

Shoony are a Rare small sized humanoid. There are 4 heritages in the book. 6 lv 1 ancestry feats, 3-5th lv, 2-9th, and 2-13th. Ability boost are dex, cha and free, flaw in con. His relationship is likely interesting... as he became a demon lord thanks to some meddling proteans.

In my opinion, Paizo screwed up in a major way. The Shoony race should have a penalty to dexterity and a bonus to constitution. They mixed that up.

Is the images/maps on the "interactive maps" tiny and also blurry for anyone else?

For example the image/map on page 3 is formatted to only cover 20% of the actual page. And some of the pages have 2 larger maps on them, making the maps tiny.

Pazuzu is among the demon lords ZVGVZB has comfortable relationship, and is said to be among the group of QLIPPOTH TURNED demon lords... PAZUZU WAS A QLIPPOTH? He is among the strongest demon lords, so that would make sense if it made him older than I thought, but I can't recall any other mention of his previous life as a qlippoth.

So are psionics back soon? The Demon Lord article mentioned them twice.
